I’m going to admit something no guy is supposed to say..........I can’t stand the taste of beer.
   I’ve had people try to convince me that I just never had the right type or brew or whatever and I’ve had to taste a lot of stuff I didn’t like to appease them.  So let’s not make this one of those sessions.
   When I do drink (I keep VERY strict rules for myself about how or if I’m getting home) I either go with sweet drinks like rum & cola or sea breeze or good quality Irish whiskey. This keeps me from the power drinkers, because I can switch out the first two with non alcoholic substitutes over the course of the night or I can insist that “You don’t pound 25 year old whiskey.”

Actually, Stephen Pastis nailed that one.

I have the impression that all the Pac-n schools' athletic director offices junked a lot of tradition grubbing for every television nickel they could get starting in the 1990s.  It got to the point that Husky ticket holders here in Seattle didn't know the time of day of their games until a couple of weeks before each game, and you lose a lot of your base that way when you have a late-start game.  And that grubbing for TV money actually devalued the money that came in, over the long haul.
 
A case can be made that Steve Sarkisian ruined both Washington's and USC's programs in the four and two years respectively that was he head coach at each school in the 2000s.  In that context his hiring at Texas makes me hear Palpatine's voice saying "We will watch your career with great interest."

And the context made it SO much worse.  GW TD called back on review, 1st and goal at the half yard line, made it 2nd and 6.  They DIDN'T score.
 
But on the flip side, give the Raiders credit for forcing the turnover and coming back...once to tie at the end of regulation, then to get that GW score.  Can you spell "coverage breakdown'?  I knew you could.  Welcome to week 1.  And a boatload of injuries, as I understand.
 
Anyone else note that the networks put both stadium debuts (with actual fans in the seats) in prime slots?

Pariah has to stifle the urge to say, "Betcha can't put your tongue on it!" to his students after any number of chemistry and physics demos in his classes.  The one with magnetic levitation of a ceramic superconductor (which has been bathed in liquid nitrogen) is about the most benign of them.  To his credit, for that last one the urge is strong only when faced with a kid with a tongue stud.
