  1. Oh ya, the faster you are, the more often you get distracted. If my system went down every second and people could easily take advantage of it, I'd switch to Linux.
  2. Yeah, it seems that way to me too. Or I might not have remembered or explained it well. Anyway the guy holding his action could um blink yeah that's the ticket.
  3. By ignoring page 235. It seems to be a crummy rule. How about "If he uses his Held Action during a Segment in which he would have had a Phase, that Phase is lost because he can only have one Phase at a time." On the other hand, someone argued on the Cybergames boards that it shouldn't be done that way because if Character A has a higher DEX than Character B, Character A should have a chance to prevent B from using his held action by timing his move just right. E.G. if B is Holding until A closes, intending to Martial Throw A, A should be able to attack at the top of the Segment that B has his next Phase with impunity. I don't know if I agree with that, but that was the argument.
  4. Based on Vanguard's thread on the Hero Designer board, maybe Continuous isn't necessary. Apparently Persistent covers that.
  5. IMO the simplest way to build the power is with the optional rule in Fred that says you can turn off an Always On power by spending lots of END and perhaps concentrating too. Buy the Telepathy 0 END Persistent Continuous Always On Communication Only and when you want to turn it off, you can with force of will and GM permission.
  6. I voted yes. Fully invisible to sight and hearing; maybe not to mental.
  7. I think I'd do it with a BODY Drain, because Transform isn't supposed to kill people. RKA is good, too...
  8. Have some! It's good. Supervillains use Linux
  9. I'm sure there's a mess of free zip utilities on the Web. If not, you can just get the trial version of Winzip and not have to pay for it until later.
  10. Definitely energy. Chemical reactions can convert chemical energy to heat, light, or electricity, and it ya can't improve 'em by adding STR. I don't think attacks get much more ED than that.
  11. OK, it's not two Brians, it's a Brian and a Sheila.
  12. hit (Mandarin xie) (http://www.mandarintools.com)
  13. Steve, do you have any plans to publish The Ultimate Chucker?
  14. My critique: I don't think you want Only In Hero ID on your Presence to affect the Base Characteristic; that means you have 0 PRE in civilian ID. You don't need to do anything further to represent his transformation; that he needs to get angry to power up is part of the SFX of the Only In Hero ID limitation. By concept your Accidental Change doesn't limit you in Hero ID; maybe you should have an equal valued disad such as Distinctive Features and use one in civilian ID and the other in hero ID. Rivalry with everybody and wants to beat them to a pulp?? If I was a not-very-powerful brick that had trouble powering up, I wouldn't go around picking serious fights with the likes of the Hulk. But then, I'm not overconfident, either.
  15. I agree, it's a big problem when you're told your character's deluded. But any sufficiently advanced science will have to be able to explain magic or else it's incomplete. Or looking at it another way, if your magic is reliable and comprehensible enough that you can cast spells and huck energy blasts, it effectively is science. It's kind of thin, but we can say that the gods and sorcerors of legend used the x-effect or something similar themselves. That's better than being insane. OK, magic gave me an IQ of 500 and instinctive knowledge of technology. No problem. It's only bad if the GM assumes that magic can't help a gadgeteer create technology, or that technology can never be improved much over what we have today.
  16. Unified origins: At first, all the metahumans get their powers from one source. But Warp Boy, Captain Tachyon, and their ilk don't take very long to start attracting attention from the Time Patrol, the Centaurian Empire, the Dungeon Dimensions... Pretty soon more diverse origins start popping up. That way you can have a sudden emergence of supers without restricting imagination too much. Another possibility is having the emergence tied to an extraterrestrial visitation. The aliens have explored distant galaxies and strange dimensions and have worked out the unification of general relativity with sorcery. They get weirder stuff than we can imagine free with their breakfast cereal.
  17. By SFX I meant an anchor and chain, by being what they are, will feel drag from moving water no matter what, if any, Power they represent. That said, I'm starting to think NC Stretching sounds better than STR or Clinging; the ship still needs some way to reach the bottom in order to Cling to it or use its STR. I thought of Ranged Clinging when I first saw this thread but it seems kinda wonky to me now.
  18. Missile Deflection, Limited Power: character takes full effect before defenses as if incoming attack were a cold-based attack.
  19. "Buy off Vulnerability", as a Power, Costs END, Must be Aware of Attack, various flavor limitations like Gestures, etc.
  20. If so, that's in the realm of SFX. If you don't buy that, how about Knockback Resistance?
