Actually, the books were out long before the video games AND the plots aren't the same. The makers of the games claim they are continuations. the series is actually just based on the books, spurred on, no doubt, by the popularity of the games.

It has been a while since my family got together due to the pandemic, but old sibling rivalries die hard.  Over dinner my sister who is married was noticing my unwed sister had gotten some new ink, which she feels is a bad influence on her kids.
"Three new tattoos?  Those are pretty permanent you know."
"Yeah, well three kids is pretty permanent too." my younger sister shot back.
There was a moment of tense silence before my 7 year-old son piped up "Technically, both can be removed with lasers."

I don't think anyone here can relate to this, though... 

Whilst on winter break in Colorado, we got to see Sing 2 in the theater. It was a rare example of a sequel that is better than the original. 

I first watched Neverending Story when I was in my 30s, so I suspect that the scene had less of an impact on me.
 
Up, on the other hand, came out the year that my wife passed away, so watching the opening sequence triggers a mixture of joy, melancholy, and sadness whenever I watch it.

I've heard others make this case before, but I don't see it.  Other than having white hair and the name White Wolf, very little can be said to be directly taken from Elric in my opinion.  Sapkowski stole from Polish history and literature for stories.  There is no Order/Chaos dichotomy (Chaos is more pronounced for TV).  Geralt is a monster hunter, Elric is mainly a mercenary.  Any other character similarities draw from general loner hero adventure tropes.
 
If written well (as with every other media), an Elric series could be successful.  Doom Patrol is filled with characters who are depressing and filled with self-loathing like Elric, and it's doing pretty well.  He's not Thomas Covenant gloomy, but he's close. 
 
Wait, nevermind, nobody's close to Thomas Covenant depressing. 

In a lot of ways, he reminded me of Tommy Lasorda - you may not like all he does, but his knowledge and passion for his sport never wavered and always came through in everything he said.

Almost finished the Witcher Season 2. Thinking that if I ever ran Fantasy, I’d still some of the concepts from it. Thinking of the conjunction is an interesting one to use.  I did like in the books on how it points out the humans are a-holes to elves BUT the dwarves point out that the elves were like that to the dwarves first. 

So many culture references came from this movie(Notably a band's name). Falls into the so bad it's good category for me and young Jane was a hottie.

One of the last, best links to the old NFL.  The only reason Belichick is generally considered the GOAT is because Madden couldn't continue with the air travel;  without that who KNOWS what he'd have done.
 
Oh, and then all he did was win the sportscaster Emmy.......16 times.
 
I got tired of him eventually, but hell, as long as his career was, that was inevitable.
