The Cage Opens

Re: The Cage Opens Something I see possible is that the aliens have become stagnant and don't want the apple cart upset in the least. In that case, humanity has a severe edge through intuition and thinking outside the box. A book I highly enjoy that explores something like this is The Excalibur Alternative by David Weber. You can read it free at here. It's based in the same universe that David Drake created for Ranks of Bronze (which I also enjoyed).
6. Re: Help with modifiying the Green Lantern Oath/Earth Mythology Only thing I wonder about is the name of the civilization as Edonia and then New Eden. New Eden's Knight implies that she is from New Eden. What about "The human spirit still survives"?
7. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares Mega-Lo Mind After being thrown through a dimensional rift, a pre-reform Megamind decides to take over his new earth home through unbounded capitalism and opening a chain of discount stores.
8. Re: Religion and Faith People can come up with a reason to disbelieve anything. To take the opposite example, I heard a story recently about Houdini debating Sir. Arthur Conan Doyle about magic. Houdini prepared a trick using a magnets and a chalkboard and said, "I tell you that what I do might look like magic, but it is a trick. Nothing more." Doyle did not believe him. He still believed the chalk moved by Houdini's magic.
9. Re: My characters This will be the last one for a while. Christmas is coming, and this also completes my core characters. Though I have spoken to Juggertha about a later one. This is Twindove the Wild Elf (or Arcadian as they prefer). I'd say she looks good for just passing 90. She is a member of the spider clan in good standing as can be seen by her tribal colors painted on her face. Her face paint is 3 narrow strips like a mask around her eyes (light green, dark green, brown*). She is a nature friend and very protective of animals and the earth. She loves violent weather--especially high winds and thunder storms. Her first appearance will be in the upcoming anthology. Shylocke Averyson meets her in "The Contest." No romance, just friends. He's still kicking himself for sending Elaina north. They also meet another wild elf, one who doesn't wear the paint...

17. Re: My characters Blown away is all I can think of to describe opening this one for the first time! Juggertha@hotmail.com really outdid himself this time! This is Blane and Grimthol Freeman, brothers. Blane is the prophet while Grimthol is the knight. The picture comes from the climactic scene of "My Brother's Keeper" (still to be finished). [Trying to figure out how much I can say without spoiling the story.] Grimthol proved himself to be a natural fighter and scholar. He enjoys study more than most of his age, esp. research in theology. He grew up in a religious family, but had a vivid encounter with the Father during the mission to escort Hanna to Castle Osias ("To Cleanse the Leper"). Blane is a promising prophet of the Father whose ministry has been held back by a feud with Grimthol. He is known for his devotion to the Father, compassion for the downtrodden, and zeal against servants of evil. The foot in the foreground belongs to a summoning mage (they wear grey but he is in shadow). As you can see, the brothers have made their way through several minions and summoned monsters and now face the Big Bad. I didn't tell Juggy the expressions I wanted this time. He did better than what I would have said, though. Grimthol's look is "Let's finish this, Brother." Blane's look says, "Brother, our Lord has already won the war."
18. Re: Box II from Alpha Flight I'm not sure if this was mentioned, but Box had the limitation that Jeffries had to keep it together during the transformations. For example, while traveling in a cave to find a cure for the sick Northstar, Northstar got weaker and had to stay in one place. Aurora stayed with him even though she was afraid of the dark (at that point, if the twins touched, their lights went out). Puck told Jeffries to leave his arm behind as a lamp for them. Jeffries said the robot had to transform as a unit and nothing could be detached.
19. Re: My characters Here is Hanna bet Shimeon! Painted by juggertha@hotmail.com. She will be debuting in "To Cleanse the Leper" which is still several stories away. Chronologically, it will be after "My Enemy/My Friend" and maybe after "My Brother's Keeper." Hanna is Hedaic, the Jewish analog in my setting. She is extremely devout and comes from the Holy Land. She was sent as liaison between her group of holy warriors and the Knights Luminar. Unlike most, she wears the tefillin on her head at all times. She only wraps the arm bands at specified prayer times. Hanna is also very compassionate. She will only fight to defend herself or innocents. Even then, she hates to take life but sees the necessity against some adversaries. Don't view that as a weakness. She knows how to find weak points in armor and can debilitate foes several times her size with a few well placed strikes. She is not calling forth a fireball in the picture. She is praying and HaShem is showing his approval of her devotion as happened in Acts and a few times in the Rabbinic literature.
20. Re: WWYCD: I've been relaunched/Rebooted! Bolt was still in high school. This would rewind him back to the time his powers first manifested. Oh, that would mean that he's still dating Nicole for the first time and hasn't hurt Tracy yet. Find out if Tracy has also been rewound. If she doesn't remember how he dumped her, break it off with Nicole, wait a few weeks, then make a play for Tracy. But will that mean that he can't get Nicole away from her abusive stepfather? Related, will that mean that Nicole again joins Monstrous Regiment (a villain group themed around movie and mythological monsters) when she manifests next year and will he be able to pull her out of it this time? If Bolt hasn't become part of the Crew yet, he won't have a costume yet. If so, it will be close, maybe more silver striping on the sides. That's not far off of his own world. They've been around for close to 20, but the first wavers stayed secret until more and more people manifested. The Crew was already pretty diverse, but if Null Space had gone from atheist to Christian and/or Guardian Angel done the reverse, Bolt[/b[ would be totally weirded out. But the more important question is what about the villains?
21. Re: God of Redemption What about a carpenter? He helps people rebuild their lives. If necessary, the carpenter's tools can be used as weapons.
22. Re: The Last Action (Super) Hero Garrett, will be the hero. In his down time, he will look into the novels, comic books, and movies to see how much of his real life is reflected. He hopes to find information regarding a few mysteries of his life and adventures (mainly missing comrades). He will store that information away in case he gets home. Bolt, would love the chance to be the first super hero of a world! He'll protect the world. If it means not going home, he will deal with that later. He'll miss his family and friends, but he's pretty used to not having many close friends. After making his presence known, he'll start checking for alternates to people he knows.
23. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares Mustrum Ridcully gazes into the omniscope and realizes the giant red eye is a demon from the dungeon dimensions intent on breaking through to another world. Ponder Stibbons' investigations reveal this other world has wizards. Ridcully and co. grab staffs and go lend a hand (After all, what good are the powers of the cosmic universe if you can't occasionally make things go splat). Gandolf the White is of two minds about the new help.
