For me, Dazzler herself was born and raised in Cheeseville.  It's like someone said, "We need a disco-based character, because all the kids are into that disco stuff.  So what can we do?"  "I dunno, how about someone on roller skates?  I mean, sure, Iron Man's rocket skates were the lamest thing he had..."  "Lets have her convert sound to light, so she's a walking, er, I mean skating disco ball?"

Which came first, Dazzler or Xanadu?

  2. Most of the builds based on Marvel Characters, especially the X-Men.  Because their powers aren't reliable they powers can only be created with either limitations or side effects.

Cyclops Energy Blast always being on comes to mind.  Dazzler can only use her powers if they is sound for her to convert to light, although she does carry a radio with her (And roller skates.)

To a point I guess

But since the mid 80's till now I have yet to see a single computer or console based RPG.  Several decent tactical games and a plethora of mind numbing shooters.  But no RPG's.

But I will agree keeping them off the streets is good though we'd have little fear of them becoming supervillains :bounce:

The ultimate example of which is The Big Bang Theory.

You know Sheldon became one after he got the Nobel Prize.

I am nearly there, I do watch some TV, but I haven't played a computer/console game in years every since they quite making them.  Or at least anything I find remotely interesting.  And don't ask me about my opinion of CRPG's or their non-existence as actual RPGs.

I get bug-eyed looks when I try to use a book, any book as an aid in descriptions.  People will actually say "Oh, I don't read, is there a show or game that is like it?"  AAARRFGGGHHHHHHHHHhhh!!!:ugly:

Role Playing Games like Champions or Dungeons and Dragons are social games where people get together to go on an adventure together.  People who like to do math, and use pens and paper.  The internet has made is possible for people who aren't capable of social interaction to play games as their favorite superhero and never actual physical meet another human being.  Which is general a good thing because it keeps them off the streets or becoming supervillains.

Just like we're all surprised that superhero RPGs haven't seen a boom in the last ten years while the MCU has dominated cinema. Or surprised that the massive popularity of Star Wars in the late '70s and early '80s didn't help sci-fi/space opera RPGs roll past fantasy RPGs (D&D in particular) in the marketplace.

There just doesn't seem to be any correlation between what is popular on tv or in the movies and what is selling big in the TTRPG industry. I don't think there ever has been, to be honest.

I guess that means that the nations supply of pale lonely virgins is in short supply.

What--no one thinks Picard will make Star Trek cool again?

Not even the return of Seven of Nine will do that.  If they had focused on Ryker commanding The Titan with a few characters from Deep Space Nine and Voyager it would have kept the franchise going, especially if they skipped Enterprise and Star Trek Nemesis.  What we get now it Zombie Entertainment.  The mindless body of our beloved Series and Movies hungering for rating or box office only to be shot in the head by the utter indifference of the audience.

So many Star ships, yeah but this is both the Empire and Star Wars.

The mole? I like the way Pryde handled the mole. I.e. the Empire ain’t stupid.

The Sith cultist were to worship Palestine and do other things.

The same way you justify a Death Star. And I think it was to show that this time the Empire finally learned not to put all their eggs in one basket so to speak.

Actually no, in Dark Saber novel (now Legends) a Jedi student Dorsk 81 threw an ENTIRE fleet of Empire out of system. He died but still. Galan  Marek in the video game (which is cannon) pulls down a Star Destroyer.  So not really over powered.

    Of course ymmv 😁

Does this mean we can't trust Kitty Pryde in the X-Men movies?
