  1. Re: Foods for those that just don't care anymore Hopefully something involving research about heart disease. In other news ... my wife and I hit the Taco Bell drive-through on the way home from the clinic today. She tried one of the new Potato 'Loaded Grillers'. Potatoes, sour cream, cheese, bacon bits. "Like a loaded baked potato ... in a tortilla." GENIUS.
  2. Re: The cranky thread Went down to Columbia, MO to get a fistulagram and an angioplasty. My fistula was too badly degraded for the angioplasty to work. So, I have to rush to surgery Monday so they can implant an artificial graft, or else my fistula goes kaput. They may not even be able to fix it, and I don't have another good place for one, which means I might be stuck with a catheter, again, after getting my previous one removed just a couple of months ago. I have successfully and literally worried myself sick. I just threw up.
  3. Re: The cranky thread Leaving the clinic today, I was telling myself that I was just going to go home and eat at home, instead of hitting a drive-through. I was repeating, over and over in my head, "Just go home. Just go home. Just go home." I pull out of the lot and immediately go to Burger King, barely even aware of what I'm doing. Why do I have no willpower?
  4. Re: aggrovated over flash/Blindness No, I think 'I run circles around this guy sticking him in the back every time' is more ridiculous than 'let's double-team this guy'.
  5. Re: Outside the Box powers If the person with this power isn't wearing the skimpiest costume in history, something is very wrong.
  6. Re: Fox of Crime info Two more reasons I wish I hadn't lost my copy of Classic Enemies ...
  7. Re: Requires a Roll question You add up the whole limitation value for all limitations on the power before doing the math. In the second case, you would do the math for a -3/4 limitation.
  8. Re: aggrovated over flash/Blindness If I were a protagonist in a fantasy story, I would. They would probably succeed at that, because they're awesome. I'm not. HERO rules are not supposed to be realistic. They're supposed to model cinematic action. That said, I generally houserule out the 'attacked from behind in combat' modifier, no matter which genre of game I'm running. If someone wants to do that, they can make an Acrobatics check and go for a Surprise Move.
  9. Re: But I don't want Grond to be a pushover... Nobody said that. Anywhere.
  10. Re: But I don't want Grond to be a pushover... It's probably not an issue; Grond is (and has always been) a fairly easy target for Mentalists, though the modifiers for trying to manipulate him when he's massively honked off can make it difficult. The first post says 9 ECV, 12d6 of Mind Control, which is certainly not ridiculous in any standard superhero game.
  11. Re: But I don't want Grond to be a pushover... I have no idea what you were trying to do ... but it didn't work.
  12. Re: But I don't want Grond to be a pushover... It's Grond, and he's being set up by VIPER as a patsy. Why would he *not* start the fight utterly honked off?
  13. Re: But I don't want Grond to be a pushover... Firstly, considering Grond's usual mindset, any Mind Control command other than 'smash something' is going to be a really high target. Last I checked (5e), Grond is only vulnerable to Ego Attacks, not Mind Control in general. Plus, he's going to be constantly Enraged if not Berserk (don't have access to his stats right now), which *really* hoses any Mind Control command other than 'smash something', even with Grond's 8 Ego. The simplest solution would be to give Grond some Mental Defense. If VIPER is intentionally using Grond as a distraction, they could probably trick him into putting on 'this pretty headband' (and this being VIPER, it'd be painted with green scales, difficult to detect). Alternately, they could have a plainclothes psi-agent or hired supervillain hanging around, cowering behind cover and paralyzed with fear (heh heh), while using Mental Defense Useable By Others and other mental powers to cover him, and possibly steer him in the right/wrong direction ... maybe even using the Mind Control to direct him to smash the good guys more tactically, which could be a tip-off that something's going on.
  14. Re: Hit Locations, too high or just right? Heh. Gotta tell this story now. Way wayy WWAAAYYYY back when I first started playing Champs, in 4e, someone in a game took a shot that did BODY damage to him. The GM liked to roll location for that; no effect on mechanics, just for flavor. Of course, it came up as location 13. Now, this player was the biggest ... whatever the male version of a slut would be. Horndog? Whatever ... you get the idea. Anyway, this sent his player into an absolute tizzy, as he interpreted this as meaning he'd been ... emasculated. It was simultaneously hilarious and kind of pathetic. Just when he finally starts to calm down, another player looks at him and very calmly and in a near monotone (which is how he always spoke) said, "Don't you wish you had Regeneration?" Cue a second tizzy as he quickly gathers up his character sheet and starts looking it over intently, until he finally finds out that he does. His voice promptly shoots up two octaves and he starts screaming "I DO! I DO! I DO HAVE REGENERATION!!" This became a catchphrase in the group for years.
  15. Re: And now, for your daily dose of cute... "I have seen ... things. Terrible, horrible things."
  16. I have lost my copy of 4e's Classic Enemies, and to the extent of my knowledge (and Champions library), the Fox of Crime never got more than a cursory mention in any 5e materials (there's a reference to 'a vulpine-faced' backer in the lore for GRAB in CKC). So, if anybody should happen to have Classic Enemies, or another source of info for the Fox, would you be so kind as to tell me ... 1. His real name (if divulged), and 2. His legitimate career (aka 'how he claims he actually makes all this money')? Thanks in advance.
