    I'm disappointed that the Senate chose not to hear witnesses. I knew they weren't going to convict. I hoped, as a consolation prize, that this whole thing could produce a nice first draft of history, a sort of truth and reconciliation commission. Load up on the testimony! Make Giuliani try and make sense.

    I'm not convinced the twitter shutdown will help much. His audience REALLY likes him and will follow him to Parler or whatever platform he finds. Speaking of, there is a report of organizing a 'million militia march' on DC and all state capitals. The riot in DC was mostly signs and cameras, flags and phones. This one . . . could be interesting. Twitter warns of new violence to come, brewing again on social media, as reason for Trump ban (msn.com) Counterpoint: the reason the rioters were able to do so well against the Capitol is that it was a surprise. The rioters themselves didn't realize they were going to do that when they woke up that morning. Trump said to march, and they marched. There was no time for intelligence to direct extra security. If the report of a million militia march made it into the news, I guarantee that police will be ready.

    Would there be any interest in revisiting my "Masterlist Superdraft"? That was when we collectively built a limited set of characters, then drafted solely off that list. Oddly, I tried going back to the original one, to copy the rules and review the selections, but I think it got deleted sometime. *shrugs* I prefer the summer months, when our pedagogically inclined posters can join in, but whatever. Another idea: "The shameless Mary Sue Author Insert superdraft". The fanfic is a major part of any draft, so embrace it with a common fanfic trope: one of the characters is you! a you with the serial numbers filed off for privacy reasons, perhaps, but you.

    The rioters brought flags and phones, few guns. Bombs, I suppose, but still not enough violence or preparation for violence to mark it a coup IMHO. I was amused by the us-vs-them disconnect. Liberals point to the show of police force to BLM protesters in contrast to the the tame reaction the Trumpist rioters got. The Conservatives point to the schadenfreude for an unarmed woman killed vs the outrage over an unarmed black guy shot and paralyzed when he looked like he was going for a knife.     Conservative sites seem torn between cheering the rioters and claiming it was an antifa false flag operation. One guy they were claiming to have pics of at antifa events was the painted weirdo in the buffalo hat.
