Armory reacted to zslane in Marvel Cinematic Universe, Phase Three and BEYOOOOONND
With its red/black/white color scheme, I just assumed this was the company producing my EVH Frankenstrat clone (which I named "Warbird"):

Speaking of Kansas, Carry on Wayward Son remains one of the best rock n' roll songs ever written.
My favorite acts tend to be those with bass players who influenced me. Rush, Yes, KISS, and Elton John were early ones (Elton's bass player, the late Dee Murray, was woefully underrated). Then I entered late-teen years and it was all about Scorpions, Judas Priest, AC/DC, Ratt, Dokken, Whitesnake, Skid Row...you get the idea.

Armory reacted to Hermit in Moderator Note to folks: Regarding the F word overuse
Folks (And I do mean more than one, not trying to single ANYONE person out, but this seems a good thread to bring it up...again)
Only in referring to cancer (the medical condition, not the poster) And COVID (In the Coronavirus thread) are we supposed to use a certain F word on these boards. The Admins have in the past reminded folks that while we tend towards older demographics we want this to be a family friendly board over all. SO... I mention this now and then, and yet still if I do a search, folks ignore it..a lot.
So far my options appear to be...
Start issuing warnings and infractions
Clear them up only to have them happen again
a mix of above
Or... entertain myself in how I edit the F word because it really gets tedious.
So if you start seeing comments like "I really fluttershyed up at work today" where you thought more standard language was. Now you know why.
And if I start to think folks are doing this deliberately just to see how fun it could be, I'll consider that making more work for me, surrender, and just go straight to the warnings or more likely infactions.
I am getting too fuzzylumpkin old for this Snugglypoo

Also a big fan of Wild Wild West. 2 things I thought were interesting about show I had heard in an interview with Robert Conrad:
1) he said they had to keep coming up with ways to hide the bad guys faces, because through most the run, they had the same 5 stunt men.
2) he said how impressed he was with Michael Dunn (Dr. Loveless) who insisted, as much as possible, to do his own stunts just like Conrad did. One of my biggest dislikes of the movie (there were a few) was the disservice I felt was done to the Loveless character.

Some days you dream, some days it seems
There's nothing there at all.
You just seem older than yesterday
and you're waiting for tomorrow to call.
I draw to the curtains and one thing's for certain,
You're cozy in your little room.
The carpet's all paid for, God bless the TV,
Let's go shoot a hole in the moon.
Roy Rogers is riding tonight,
Returning to our silver screens.
Comic book characters never grow old,
Evergreen heroes whose stories are told.
Oh the great sequined cowboy who sings of the plains,
Of roundups, and rustlers, and home on the range.
Turn on the TV, shut out the lights,
Roy Rogers is riding tonight.
Nine o'clock mornings, five o'clock evenings,
I'd liven the pace if I could.
I'd rather have ham in my sandwich than cheese
But complaining wouldn't do any good.
Lay back in my arm chair, close eyes and think clear,
I can hear hoofbeats ahead.
Roy and Trigger have just hit the hilltop
While the wife and the kids are in bed.
Oh and Roy Rogers is riding tonight,
Returning to our silver screens.
Comic book characters never grow old,
Evergreen heroes whose stories are told.
Oh the great sequined cowboy who sings of the plains,
Of roundups and rustlers and home on the range
Turn on the TV, shut out the lights,
Roy Rogers is riding tonight.

Yeah, I very much hope they get a third season of Travellers.
I liked Wild, Wild West as a kid. Yeah, parts hold up and parts don't. My favorite villain was always Dr. Miguelito Loveless. But my favorite line from the whole series came from Victor Buono. He has captured West and has him strapped to a table. On a table next to him is, like, every gadget he's *ever* used on the show. All of which, presumably, they took off him while he was unconscious. Buono says, "Mr. West, I'm surprised you don't clank when you walk."

I've ended campaigns (from both sides of the screen) by throwing a (what's known in the SRD) Mage's Disjunction spell. Another TPK I was victim to involved a vampire mage (in a Ravenloft game) casting Anti-Magic shell... like the Black Dragon V fought only much worse.
In D&D you can plan all you want but it ultimately usually comes down to:
'You've had all night to plan. What do you do?"
"Kick in the door and react accordingly!"

I'm mainlining TRAVELERS on Netflix right now. I'm halfway through the second season. I really hope it gets picked up for a third season.
Time travelers from a horrible, apocalyptic future are downloaded into the minds of people in the (our) present--hundreds of years before their time--who were about to die. They take over their bodies and lives and work as teams to perform various missions that they hope will allow them to prevent the awful future, or at least improve it. It's a one-time, one-way trip. The nature of time travel generally prevents "do-overs" so if a mission fails, it fails. There's lots I could say about this series, but SPOILERS.
I really like this show.

Hayley Atwell Reveals Ideas for 'Agent Carter' Season 3

As long as people still talk about it, including cast, there is a chance for it to come back. Maybe on Disney's streaming service.

There was an interesting line on one of the news broadcasts about superheroes in other communities. It was easy to overlook, but it leaves me wondering who else is out there on this Earth.

Tbh I don't see how you can avoid some social commentary when the entire premise of the show is fighting inner city street crime.
Which reminds me, the most eyebrow-raising part of the show for me was BL's treatment of the cops who showed up at the club.

I don't think we should underestimate the eagerness with which the black movie-going audience around the world is anticipating Black Panther. It looks to be a cultural touchstone for that community, like Wonder Woman was for women. Every black person I've spoken to, read, or watched online, who is aware of this movie, displays a "finally, one for us" excitement (for particular reasons I described earlier on this thread).

Again, I didn't say it was just a movie with a famous black lead; its a quasi-blockbuster with an (almost) entirely all-black cast (usually only reserved for small serious dramas fighting oppression and for civil rights or Tyler Perry-esque comedies) that just broke a record for early ticket sales. IMO this is somewhat of a big deal. YMMV.

Armory reacted to wcw43921 in Black Widow
A couple of scenes I would like to see in the Black Widow movie--
We begin with an ending--specifically the ending of The Avengers at the shawarma scene--
An adorable little red-haired girl comes up to Natasha--
"You're one of the heroes, aren't you?"
Natasha smiles wearily. "I don't know as I'd say I was a hero--"
"Can I have your autograph?"
Natasha sighs. "Honey, I really don't think that's a--"
Then she trails off when she catches sight of Tony Stark across the table nodding his head and mouthing the words "Yes! Sign It! Come On!" She looks back at the little girl and sees the beginnings of disappointment in her eyes.
"Okay, sure," says Natasha, and takes the piece of paper the girl offers her. "What's your name?"
"Tasha."
Natasha looks at her incredulously for a moment, then thinks for a moment and writes on the paper. She hands it back to Tasha, and she reads what's written out loud.
"To Tasha--Keep Fighting The Good Fight--Best Always--The BLACK WIDOW!" Tasha's eyes light up like Times Square. "That is so cool! I'm gonna tell all my friends I got an autograph from the Black Widow!"
She launches herself at Natasha and gives her a big hug. "Thank You, Black Widow!" As she runs off, Natasha looks after her until Stark speaks again. "You see? It feels good to get recognized for a good job."
"Especially when you've earned it," says Steve Rogers, who offers Tony his hand. "I owe you an apology. I was wrong about you."
"You don't owe me anything," replies Tony. "But you could pick up the tab."
"Sorry," smiles Steve, "I left my wallet in my other suit."
"You have another suit?" jokes Tony, and they laugh at each other while Natasha looks off thoughtfully, trying to deal with what just happened. Scant hours before she was Natasha Romanoff, agent of SHIELD and spy without a country. Now--she's the Black Widow, defender of New York and one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
I'd also like a scene with Melinda May. Something in a dive bar, I think--
"If it isn't the Black Widow."
"If it isn't the Cavalry."
"You know I don't like that name."
"Don't know why. As far as code names go, it's pretty solid. Besides--isn't Chun Li taken?"
"Oh, you're funny."
"Thanks. I'm thinking of a career in stand-up comedy."
The bartender--who bears a remarkable resemblance to Stan Lee--steps up.
"Ladies--whattya drinkin'?"
"Whiskey," they say in unison. "Straight up."
"What, no vodka?" says May.
"What am I, a cliche? (Switches to Russian accent) You vant I should be chasing after Moose and Squirrel, dahlink?"
May laughs. "Now that's funny."
"I got a million of 'em."
Or something like that.
