  1. Let's see....

Unfriended- A horror movie that reminds us how exciting it is to watch unlikable people text, instant message, and video chat with each other. What? You don't find that entertaining?

Gods Of Egypt- So bad it makes the Clash of the Titans remake feel like Oscar material. Terrible on so many levels but especially the script.

Six Ultra Brothers vs The Monster Army- I love kaiju, but this is only worth viewing to see how bad it is.

I was listening to a theory by a YouTube political commentator, that Putin may be trying out a new strategy to create a buffer zone between Russia and NATO-aligned countries. Rather than overthrowing whole nations on his borders, he may attempt to foment rebellion in regions of countries with separatist leanings, particularly having locally dominant Russian populations; then recognizing their "independence" and moving troops in to "support" them, thereby carving off chunks of other countries' territory.

Buffer zones in modern warfare are largely an outdated concept. Mechanized and distance warfare like missiles makes it so that occupying enemy territory is not the sole way to defeat opposing forces.

  3. Namor's willpower was such that Doom create an amplifying device to make sure Namor would be affected by the Purple Man's power.

From the really good Emperor Doom graphic novel by the way.

He was actually a really nice guy. Explained to me how he added bracers to Namor because he couldn't draw wrists very well. This was after explaining that he dropped out of art school because they wasted time doing stuff like drawing bicycle chains in detail. Yeah, silly art school: Teaching you how to look at something and draw the detailed contours of it!

Though I can't say I didn't like him. Friendly, polite guy.

    I'm going to guess you haven't met  . . . William Shatner.

You and Certified are both correct. I've never met William Shatner (though I've met other Trek stars).

I'm a big kaiju fan. I met Akira Takarada and Don Frye at a kaiju convention (as Frye was in Godzilla Final Wars). Ultimate Warrior I met at a work conference (he was promoting the latest WWE video game).

      My list.

    1) Leonard Nimoy

    2) Stephen Wright

    3) Bob Hope

    4)Jay Leno

    5) Harlan Ellison

Fair Warning!!!   This is a trick question.

       I’ll guess John Landis.

A logical guess, but I actually met John Landis a number of years ago. His son was a kaiju fan (as am I) and he was at a convention I was attending (as a participant...not a guest). We talked a bit about the stuff we had bought and kaiju films in general.

  6. I'm curious as to what you think an "acceptable" level of representation is. Realistically, if we're basing representation on % of population a good chunk of the cast would be of Chinese or Indian descent. This movie had two Asian characters and one Indian character. So....actually...too little representation if we're going by the numbers. They even rolled the black and gay guy into one character for crying out loud. I see more representation after an hour at work so I'm continually befuddled by this complaint.

Oh, and one of the "On the Media" guests cited research that peaceful protest has a better success rate than violence. I also recall Scientific American ran an article claiming this, a year or two ago.

Of course, peaceful protest only works if the government actually cares how it's seen. As Syria and Belarus have shown, peaceful protest doesn't work in states whose rulers consider their population expendable, and don't give a rat's ass who sees their crimes.

There lies the problem. As accountability for our governing apparatus is at an all time low...they no longer care what the "masses" think. It's maddening.
