Ultraman Dyna and Ultraseven X

So...just got back from Love and Thunder. As I feared, Ragnarök all over again. What stinks is that there was a lot of potential for the serious side of this story, but the film fumbles it with the now usual....every situation is a joke...writing. Bale is playing a serious villain in a not serious movie. It's a shame. They come close a few times to some actual drama but pull away back to the jokes before anything relevant comes across on screen. It was better than Ragnarök, but it could have been so much more IMO.

Is it so much to ask for a Thor who...while perhaps not the ultra serious Shakespeare talking godling.....is at least not treating supposedly serious situations (for example the death of all of his friends and the destruction of his homeland) as an opportunity for one liners? Why are my choices....too serious Thor or too stupid Thor? There is a happy middle ground in there...which the Thor and Avengers movies mostly got right (except for fat Thor).

Honestly...State Rights to me has always been BS. Federal law should always trump it. We're one country. Are we going to a time where I'll be married in one state and not married in another? How backwards can we get?

So now what? Voting doesn't work (and they're actively ensuring to keep it that way), the court is now compromised for possibly another generation, protests don't work, and the disparity of power between the top and the rest of us is even worse than ever.  Not trying to be a doomer, but seriously...I'm tired of losing.

I'm just waiting for some kind of win in this Republican/Conservative nightmare we're being subjected to....sigh....

She is known to be one of the GOP's top fund raisers.  Her base feels enormous resentment towards the democrats and the "costal elites" who they believe look down on them and mock them. Yes....quite fortunate for you. As a progressive living in a reactionary country...not so much. I'm just....tired. As I see potentially decades of social progress on the edge of being wiped away, it feels like it was all for nothing. Loki was right....humans wanted to be ruled. Sigh.

All I know is the GOP is going to spin this towards further fascist control of America and they'll probably succeed. Most Dems are too invested in the status quo to call them out.

It will never stop. The country lacks the political will to do anything about it.

I really don't want a repeat of Thor: Ragnarök, but it looks like that is what we're going to get. Sigh...
