Justin Herbert gets paid. I wonder what the greatest QB in the history of the universe - Joe Burrow obviously - will get

That's a lot of money for someone who made such an inglorious exit from the playoffs.

Go Jags!

Like Watson has a solid postseason track record?  And Burrow?  It'll be even more ridiculous.

The other part of this insanity is the ripple effect it'll have downmarket.  This is the current state:
https://overthecap.com/position/quarterback

We need to go down a ways, as of course the big contracts are recent signings.  Cousins and Tannehill are too old to be looking at big raises.  Goff?  If the Lions are respectable?  Geno Smith and Jimmy G. will probably be too old to really cash in, as their contracts still have 3 seasons.  Jordan Love's 'only' pulling $13M...he's got 2 years now to show if he can cut it.  If he's halfway decent, tho...$30M?

The insanity will show when Trevor Lawrence's rookie deal runs out.

And just like that, the Broncos have lost two of their wide receivers.

  • K.J. Hamler has been waived after a diagnosis of pericarditis, a mild heart irritation. (The team expects to bring him back in "weeks, not months".)
  • Tim Patrick is apparently gone for the season for the second consecutive year, this time with a torn Achilles tendon.

Snakebit.

Nope.

Karma.

From the sound of it, waiving Hamler was the cleanest procedural approach.  Non-football injury list is gone for the year.  On the surface?  Cutting a kid in need of significant medical treatment might look harsh, but this might not be the case here.

Please, for the love of all that is good and holy, no. Did we learn nothing from 2022?

Jets-Broncos could be NFL's first flexed game of 2023 season following Sean Payton's comments

The good news is that the prime time.spot.in question is currently filled by Cowboys-49ers. Donkeys-Jets is unlikely to displace that matchup, unless Dallas and San Francisco are both 0-4 at that point.

Okay, okay, I just had a sudden rush of inspiration to the head!

If we're gonna rename the Washington football club, we need to get as far from the old identity as possible, especially where the overtly offensive elements are concerned. So let's drop Washington from the name.

Instead, let's call them the Beltway Bandits! Their team colors can be Dollar Bill Green and Prison Jumpsuit Orange.

Who's with me?
