Cancer
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Buying stuff for others, or being a companion for someone who was buying stuff for others. At that particular location (on an arterial with decent, perhaps mildly upscale, residential on either side) it's also about a dozen blocks to the nearest other place where you can buy a birthday card of any sort. And, curiosity; my morning bus commute carried me past it twice a day for a couple of years, and the storefront somehow conveys an impression of good humor and cleanliness rather than the grungy sleaze I perceive with other adult-oriented places. I mean, the windows aren't even curtained over; there's natural light in there! Amazing!
AliceTheOwl
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER I should hope a bakery keeps pretty clean. I certainly wouldn't order from a place that wasn't, no matter how badly I needed its wares.

AliceTheOwl
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER That would be pretty handy. It would save me from having to jump from Google Video to YouTube when I'm looking for something.

archermoo
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Also known as "fall". It's that time between the hot and cold. Ah, if only it were so everywhere. Here it is more the time between "way to hot" and "only mildly hot". Though actually in SF where I'm working now it isn't at all bad. Must be something about the giant heat sink (otherwise known as the Pacific Ocean) helping regulate the temperature...

Actually, I understand that fall in SoCal marks the beginning of "rainy season". I have a co-worker who used to live out that way. Actually, both Concord and San Francisco are in NorCal. Though fall does indeed start the rainy season here as well. We got the first rain since June or so the other day.
