Matt the Bruins
Re: Creepy Pics. Although I think breastfeeding is healthy and about the most natural thing in the word, I do think the kids should be weaned by the time they're able to ask for some milk. matrix3
Re: Creepy Pics. This. It's not the breast feeding but the child's age that heebies me. I'll second (or third) this. Weaning age is different for different cultures, sure, but there should be a line. Used to be that a younger sibling would force the issue. SteveZilla
Re: Creepy Pics. Creepy. Out of curiosity I googled it. Amazon has one used one listed... for $99.99. And it was published in 1966. I couldn't find any other information about the book itself.
SteveZilla
Re: Creepy Pics. OK, I find this creepy. Spoilering just in case even though this is a national magazine cover. No, this is not a shopped image. Isn't that kid a little old to be breastfeeding? Though the small print does explain the image.

And it was published in 1966. I couldn't find any other information about the book itself. Now I'm intrigued. I found a little bit more info on this 'classic.' The cover is by famed artist Elaine Duillo. As always, the crowd was on hand for the Uncle Googie Cartoon Show, sponsored by a local ice cream company. There was never a shortage of kids on hand to accept the free samples Uncle Googie handed out during the show. Uncle Googie was really a staff announcer named Barney Nesbitt….Barney was a jerk. Edit: I found it on Alibris for $100. No wonder it's so expensive-the only library in the world listing it is Bowling Green State University (Kentucky wins again!). Dr. Confoundo
Re: Creepy Pics. Jonestown I was going to make an extensive Tiki Room joke about this photo, what with the parrots casually hanging out up front, but then realized that it might be a tad tasteless. I apologize for even thinking it.
Cygnia
Re: Creepy Pics. I admit, it was how nonchalant the parrots looked that drew my attention to the pic in the first place.
matrix3
Re: Creepy Pics. Jonestown Nope, nothing in the background there...just keep looking at the bright birds... Seriously, though, before the kool-aid, the situation was insanely creepy. After the kool-aid, it was insanely sad.

[/quote'] It's just such a weird juxtaposition... You often see a photo of a couple people looking over a field of dead animals/birds/fish; it's surprising to see the reverse.
