Apollo (god of physicians, IIRC)

Panacea

Booster (as in "booster shot")

Painkiller (interesting how these beneficial compounds contain "pain" and "kill" in the name!)

Lancet

Cadaceus

Angel of Mercy

The Human Hit Point Battery (well, that's GOT to cheesier than what you've got)

Bones (from the old nickname for doctors: "sawbones". Plus, you get automatic dibs on announcing, "He's dead, [team leader].")

I'd better stop before I start suggesting things like "White Mage."

soem of zero points suggestions are good for this

say Doc cadeaus

how about the oathkeeper or doc HIPPOCRATES(as in he keeps the hypocratic oath)

corpsman if he was and army field medic or some other term from military parlance (bonecutter and sawbones would be out I think)

Re: Need a name for a hero...

oddly most of the doctors in comics seem to just go by there last names except doctor midnight and doctpor octopus though the abreviation doc ock works just as welhis real name name is Dr otto octavious

dr steven strange

dr otto von doom

strictly speaking if he's a surgeon he should be called

Mister whatever as surgeons lose the doctor prefix when they qualify at least in the uk.

ooo just thought of a fun one

make him the great great garndson of James watt inventor of teh steam engine ( and nodoubt secretly a steampunk gageteer) thus his inventive genius for non leathal crime fioghting goodies

but of course hed be

Re: Need a name for a hero...

You yourself have a fine name, Darth Continent

Thanks

It was my old theforce.net name before the truth that Lucas had gone insane in a Hal Jordan-turned-Parallax kinda way and needed to be destroyed finally sunk in (for reference, sometime shortly after realizing he wasn't kidding about the midichlorians). I'm still working on the "needed to be destroyed" bit, but I'm happy to finally dust the name off...

Re: Need a name for a hero...

Here's the concept:

1) He's a doctor....

2) He has inate powers of healing and regeneration.

3) Uses gadgets(of a nonlethal nature) to help fight crime.

Dr. Feelgood

Dr. Doctor

Dr. Page (secret ID: Paging Dr. Page)

Miracle Max (tribute to The Princess Bride)

Medic

Medivac

Medicine Man (if he has Indian background)

Spin Doctor (sorry, politics crept in there)

Dr. Pepper (there's a lawsuit pending if he doesn't endorse)

Dr. Love ("KISS the good doctor.")

Do you have a basic background or personality yet? That may help us.

Doc Wilde, the 24 karat man.

Surgical Steel

Doctor Body-Zen

Asclepian

Saviour

Operator

Red Cross (Kind of a boxing thing)

First Responder

Good Samaritan

Mr. Emergency

Doctor Ether

Corpsman (which is Navy/Marine Corps, not army)

Medi-Pac-Man

Hospitaller

Doctor Hero

Flying Physician

Re: Need a name for a hero...

Why not just call him "Doc"?? Everybody's going to call him that anyway

Or "Medic" (same reason), I've seriously got a Cleric in my D&D campaign whose considering changing his characters name to that since it's the only thing he gets called.

Or give him Duplication and call him Pair o' Medic.
