SteveZilla
Re: More space news! I would think that to do any kind of 'Reality' TV show would take sending, housing, and supplying a *lot* of people. Not just the 'contestants', but all the cameramen, gaffers, best boys, etc., etc., etc., that not only needed, but likely also required by union contracts. Oh, and the host. And what happens when someone gets voted off the planet? "Sorry, Bob, but it's the airlock for you!" o.

megaplayboy
Re: More space news! I guess it'd be nice to try to establish a permanent manned station on Mars. But I'd be even more interested in seeing a permanent manned station in (relatively) deep space, say, 1 light year away, deep in the Oort cloud. It would be a sterner test of our ability to create a long-term self-sustaining environment in the most difficult possible conditions(no planet to draw resources from), to successfully transit a near-interstellar distance with human passengers, and to keep in contact/monitor micro-societal changes over time. You know you can do it with just 1 Light Minute, not send anything up and don't have to wait that long for the daily reports?
