On Saturday afternoon Moscow time, according to Roscosmos, the Russian space agency, the spacecraft received orders to enter an orbit that would set it up for a lunar landing. But an unexplained ’emergency situation’ occurred, and the orbital adjustment did not occur.”

DShomshak
Was StarLink scheduled to launch another cluster of satellites tonight? Or maybe Bezos' satellite constellation? Because I think I just saw them. At about 9:05 while I took a short walk, I looked up and saw a line of small lights moving across the sky from the WNW, crossing the handle of the Big Dipper, then winking out as they reached the zenith, no longer reflecting the sunlight. I'd guess they were, hm, two degrees apart? The last winked out about 5 minutes after I noti ced the procession. It was quite pretty. SpaceX is now launching v2 Starlinks, fewer of them but each far more powerful than the v1. SpaceX is planning on tens of thousands of them in LEO [low earth orbit]. Scott Ruggels
24 hours from satellite in a warehouse to satellite in a stable, useful orbit is a very impressive achievement.

DShomshak
News stories say the Osiris-Rex capsule landed safely and has been transported to the Jpohnson Space Center for study. No word yet of either origins or space plagues. (Though I suppose we could have both, a la Wild Cards.) Dean Shomshak
