Re: Guess the inspiration behind this superteam!

Here's mine:

Captain Shanty: Obese brick.

Redball: Speedster, slightly accident-prone.

Professor Makeshift: Gadgeteer who can build anything out of anything.

Mister Midas: Insanely wealthy battlesuit type.

Lovebird: Mister Midas' partner in both life (as his wife) and battlesuit wearing.

Farmgirl: A female brick.

Starlet: Female light-based energy projector.

Someone beat me to it.

But this is a fun game!

Re: Guess the inspiration behind this superteam!

Mentioned this team elsewhere, but seems to belong here. No code names.

The leader has military experience, is a tactician and weapons master. Sometimes cross-dresses.

Second in command a brunette gadgeteer.

Team bricks are an amphibious redhead and a blonde who appears to be eight years old who can shrink and grow.

Another redhead can fly, and is pretty good with a sword. She looks 12.

Two more blondes round out the team, one a speedster who is also the team wheel-man, and the designated hostage who inspires the others to greater efforts when she needs to be rescued.

Re: Guess the inspiration behind this superteam!

Good one!

McCoy's team inspired another one for me. This should be super easy to guess but I think they would be fun to play anyway. While I am using the Fantastic Four as a template, they are not the inspiration.

The Wonderful Four

Mr. Wonderful - a brilliant but eccentric Gadgeteer who stores all of his inventions in his tophat (Gadget Pool, OAF: tophat).

Growing Girl - the young girlfriend of Mr. Wonderful and sister to the Human Warp. She has the ability grow and shrink (Growth and Shrinking MP).

The Human Warp - a Teleporting thrillseeker with such fne control over his powers that he can teleport parts of his body separately without injury (Teleportation and Stretching, Does Not Cross Intervening Space).

The It - A hideously ugly woman with immense strength and invulnerability (STR and Resitant Protection). The uglier she gets, the stronger she gets.

Re: Guess the inspiration behind this superteam!

A 'Robin Hood' group of supers that robs from the corrupt, or ruins them, and helps people...

(This one should be easy, but I'm thinking of starting a campaign for them so thought I'd put them there anyway)

Black King- Formerly on the side of the law, but disgusted by corruption in the system, this tactical genius and financial guru ends up recruiting a handful of supercriminals to start a robin hood style endeavor. Startling, he's turned them around in many ways and they now enjoy helping others. A reader of patterns, some suspect he is a low level precog as well, and he's been known to make slightly spooky pronouncements and then walk off without immediate explanation to his team. Nevertheless, while finding him a touch controlling, they trust him and often use him as a moral compass. He has been in denial about being a 'villain' until recently.

Bronco- A low level pocket brick but a master martial artist, Bronco has done black operations in Pakistan, Russia, and who knows where else. His specialty is the 'smash and grab' but he's no mere thug, preferring 'the appropriate amount of force'. He has an almost Jackie Chan like gift for turning ordinary objects into weapons if he must yet he has something of a sneering disdain for guns as so many use them incorrectly. Where he received his training is unknown. He's got a soft spot for kids and animals. He speaks many languages, and as mentioned above is well traveled. He has been known to take out a whole squad of agents without breaking a sweat but dislikes hurting 'honest cops' and apologizes for it when he knocks them out.

Spider- Spider sticks to walls, has incredible agility, can create web lines to hang from, and has built on those talents to become possibly the best cat burglar in the world. Despite her mostly human appearance, this alien has trouble fitting into society norms here on Earth, and may blurt odd things out at inappropriate times. Some find this endearing, others just think it's weird. Whatever planet she is from, it's clear she had an unpleasant child hood, and her reception on this planet was little better at least at first. She has a love of money, but an even greater love of challenges, having none of the usual human aversions to tight spaces or high places.

Doctor Phreak - An orphan who lucked out when a kindly older woman took him in for her own, Doctor Phreak's budding mutant cyberpathy and own bored genius still lead him to becoming a master hacker despite her influence. Fortunately, he's relatively benign in the use of his powers, unless he considers YOU a bad guy, in which case he has no problem emptying out your bank account. A true geek under his veneer of cool, he's willing to learn what the others have to teach in their fields, but appreciates respect for the hard work he puts in and his talents.

Despite his wisecracking nature, he does not bluff.

Madame Imposter- Little is known about Madame's past. She may have worked for an intelligence agency as part of their psych division, but when she discovered a chemical that gave her the power to shapeshift, she drank it, and jumped ship to become a con woman extraordinarie. She speaks a multitude of languages, and can fake many more. She was one of the first targets of the Black King when he was on the 'right' side of the law, but finds him even more intriguing now that he's on hers. She has a hard time trusting others... even with her real name, a name she has almost lost in a shuffle of a dozen aliases.

The push-me pull you from Doctor Doolittle?

the picture on the clasic camel cigarets package?

No, and no.

Well, maybe.

The particular palindromedary icon I use as an avatar here was designed by a woman of my House, Brianca Alexander, and I think she did use the Camel image as a starting point.

Re: Guess the inspiration behind this superteam!

Chunk – Leader/Brick: Chunk is a massive mountain of a man whose weight and strength are only matched by his contemplative nature and incredible leadership skills.

Babble – Verbal Mentalist: Babble possesses the ability to confuse and confound any combatants within range of his verbal assault.

Opaque – Magical Power Armor: Though not the most intelligent of heroes Opaque gains incredible abilities of resiliency and recollection upon donning the mystical Helm of Saint Thomas Aquinas.

Thunder and the Soothsayer – Sonic Protector and his insightful muse: By crashing his Rods of The Heavens together Thunder is able to project earth-shattering waves of sound at his foes. Always under his protection is Soothsayer, a man of miniscule stature whose words can unveil the ultimate nature of any conundrum.

The Weirdling – Unearthly Entity: This tall gaunt figure’s power can only be described as unnerving. His ability to blend into any environment as either male of female allows him access to many restricted places. Peering into the beady yellow eyes of The Weirdling may be the last thing a person remembers. The Weirdling often acts as chief council to Chunk.

Panache – The face-man: Panache is as cool as the other side of the pillow. His exquisite demeanor, stunning appearance, affinity to high society, impeccable wardrobe and ease with the ladies often makes him an extremely useful member of the group.

Incisor – Martial Mouth: Incisor is a top-notch martial artist, with a very special adaptation. As a youth Incisors face was irreparably damaged in an auto accident. Prosthetic attachments did little to hide the hole that was Incisor’s face and he spent his young adult life sequestered by depression. If not for his immersion into the martial arts his life would have certainly ended in suicide. Today Incisor fights with all his martial might in a terrible choreography of leaping blows and horrible bites utilizing a wide array of weaponized facial cybernetics.

Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids?

Re: Guess the inspiration behind this superteam!

YOU GOT IT!!! :)

Fat Albert — Fat Albert is the heart and soul — and often the conscience — of the Junkyard Gang; though he is depicted as being obese and unhealthy, he remains active through his love of sports, often taking part in different games along with the rest of the gang. Fat Albert works hard to maintain integrity in the gang and with others, and plays bagpipes/accordion (made from a radiator and an airbag) in the Junkyard Band.

Mushmouth — A chinless, linguistically-challenged simpleton who always spoke in virtual Ubbi Dubbi, tantamount to an overdose of novocaine in the mouth. Mushmouth plays a homemade bass guitar in the Junkyard Band.

Dumb Donald — A lanky but dimwitted fellow; he always wears a green long-sleeved jersey three sizes too big, and a pink stocking cap covering his entire face except his eyes and mouth. In the Junkyard Band, Dumb Donald plays a trombone made out of plumbers' pipe and a morning glory horn from an old Victrola.

Bill — Like the others, Bill is an all-around good athlete, but more often he spends his time trying, though not always successfully, to keep his little brother Russell out of trouble. In the Junkyard Band Bill plays homemade drums made from a discarded foot-pedal trash can using spoons for sticks.

Russell — Bill's little brother and the smallest and youngest of the Junkyard Gang. He always wears a heavy jacket, boots and a Ushanka winter hat regardless of the weather. Russell has a penchant for telling things like they are, much to his older brother's consternation. Russell plays the xylophone in the Junkyard Band (made out of empty cans and a discarded coat rack).

Weird Harold — A tall, skinny, beady-eyed kid who always wears a yellowish-brown dress blazer, a brown sock on one foot and a red sock on the other. Fat Albert's best friend, Harold is usually clumsy. In the Junkyard Band, Weird Harold plays a harp made from bedsprings, and on occasion plays a "dressmaker dummy" in the percussion section.

Rudy Davis — A sharply-dressed smooth-talker and huckster antagonist whose smart-alecky attitude is always getting him into trouble more often than out of it. But to his credit, Rudy has a good heart and often learns his lesson. His family is implied to be financially better-off than the others as he is the only Junkyard Band member with a real musical instrument, an electric guitar.

Bucky — As his name indicates, Bucky has a large overbite. Bucky plays a stovepipe organ in the Junkyard Band.

Yep.

Mulan as the cross-dressing leader, Belle as the gadgeteer, Ariel with Atlantian strength and Alice with size changing powers, Wendy the flyer, Cinderella with a touch of super speed and Aurora (Sleeping Beauty). Guess mentioning the designated hostage kind of gave it away.

Re: Guess the inspiration behind this superteam!

Here's a trio for you:

Bash (Brick/Weapon master): Born with incredible might Bash learned to focus his strength through the years with a sole purpose of helping others. Although, an expert in most weapons, Bash prefers his own hands to get the job done.

Pocket (Teleporting Mutant Gadgeteer): Anything he touches has a hidden purpose and meaning. From a ball of string to a jelly crusted spoon.

The Old Man (Energy Projector): Able to create temporal bubbles of slow or fast time the Old Man is the brains behind the trio.

Another one that should be fairly easy:

Investor: Insanely wealthy (or is that wealthily insane?) math whiz, also a super-athlete.

Deathsmoke: Woman who seems to be made of living smoke... or perhaps "undead smoke."

Shock Treatment: Man with short-range electrical powers, including operating machines by touch.

The Witch: Classic broom-flying potion-maker.

Pop and Bang, the Twins: Though they appear to be children, they are immensely strong and seemingly invulnerable.

The Butler: As professional and efficient as he is tall... which is considerable. He never appears to move fast, though he somehow does.
