quozaxx
The scroll maker's shop has been robbed of 10 of it's most powerful scrolls. (each scroll has 1 charge that never recovers) But which 10? What do you think would make a powerful, possibly game altering scroll? I already have (in my opinion) 1. Demon Summoning and control 2. Undead Summoning and Control 3. Dragon Summoning and Control. (I was hoping for some of the others not to include Summoning - but that's up to you). What do you think should be added to top off the top 10 most powerful scrolls?

Nolgroth
Re: Top 10 most powerful scrolls Storm of the Ages- This spell scroll creates a blizzard of the terrifying proportions in a 50km radius around the caster. Temperatures plummet, wind levels increase to dangerous levels and most senses are severely impaired for the duration of the storm, which lasts up to a week. Those caught without proper shelter or attire may freeze to death and any crops will be ruined. Note that the spell does not grant any immunity to its effects upon the caster. Storm of the Ages: Change Environment (-4 to Hearing Group PER Rolls, -4 to Hearing Group PER Rolls, -4 to Smell Group PER Rolls, +5 Wind Levels, -5 Temperature Level Adjustment, Long-Lasting 1 Week), Area Of Effect (5m Radius; +1/2), MegaScale (1m = 10 km; +1 1/4), Cannot alter scale (-1/4) (230 Active Points); 1 Charge which Never Recovers (-4), OAF Expendable (Extremely Difficult to obtain new Focus; -2) Spell Scroll, No Conscious Control (Only Effects cannot be controlled; -1), Incantations (-1/4), Concentration (1/2 DCV; -1/4)
quozaxx
Re: Top 10 most powerful scrolls In some games: Immortality Scroll Transmute base metal into gold scroll Who really killed JFK Scroll The Viagra Scroll I will ignore the last 2 because: 1. The age is before JFK. They wouldn't comprehend the importance. 2. Viagra is a potion in a solid form called a "pill" Sorry for the confusion. quozaxx
Re: Top 10 most powerful scrolls Nationwide famine upon one's enemy Eternal damnation I would like to know how you would write these up. I suppose famine would be a mega transform on a mega scale and Eternal damnation may be extra-dimensional movement.

Ockham's Spoon
Re: Top 10 most powerful scrolls I'd suggest: Rewrite History: X-D Transport back in time to a point of the caster's choice. Probably would allow for multiple travelers. Linked to a second X-D Transport that returns travler(s) after 1 week (or appropriate period of time). Magic Mastery: 10d6 Drain vs. All Magic, AoE, Megascaled, Return rate 1pt/month, Personal Immunity. Wish: Summon 1000pt Djinn (or other creature with large VPP), Loyal, Only to perform a single task (yeah, I know that is another Summon, so you can model the Wish some other way if you like) Immortality: Full Life Support and Regeneration 1 BDY/min, Can heal limbs, Resurrection. NuSoardGraphite
Re: Top 10 most powerful scrolls Andulselius's Irresistible Plague scroll: This necromatic spell draws forth powerful death magic from the land of the dead and casts a powerful spell on a random individual anywhere in the realm. That individual becomes infected with an enchanted plague which causes those infected to bleed from their pores and orifices. At the end of the infected victims life, they will excrete all of their innards out of their rear-end in a spectacularly gruesome display of blood and bowels. This plague has a 99% infection rate and once contracted, it is 100% fatal unless incredibly powerful healing magics are employed to cleanse the disease from their body. Ice9
Re: Top 10 most powerful scrolls A list of powerful demons' true names. Each demon can be compelled once by their name. Summon (X point demon), Devoted (+3/4), Variable Effect (any demon; +1/2), X charges that never recover (-?), Limited Power (only one task; -1/2), NCC (powers of demon are unknown until summoned; -1/2) The Story A scroll describing the setup to a story, with the conclusion left blank. If the conclusion is filled in, everyone within the surrounding kingdom will be compelled to help those events occur, until the next sunrise. The better the story is written, the more reliable the effects will be; otherwise, changes may slip in. The writer is also subject to the effects, and cannot break the compulsion once it begins. Mind Control, Cumulative, Megascale, Continuous, Uncontrolled, RAR (PS: Storyteller), Side Effects

Steffen
Re: Top 10 most powerful scrolls Baal's Fire: This spell erases a being or object and it's entire past from existence resulting in a world where the target of the spell has never existed. This will change the course of history but may also create paradoxes. Furthermore, annihilating a being will also destroy its soul which is considered a deeply evil deed and will damn the caster's own soul but may also draw a powerful evil being's attention to him/her. I would build it using extra-dimensional movement.

prestidigitator
Re: Top 10 most powerful scrolls This may or may not be appropriate in a particular game. It serves as much as a fantasy type "radiation accident" as anything, allowing a character to be completely redefined using whatever character points are available. If desired, the maximum number of Character Points for the new form can be limited roughly by using the average roll of the 2d6 Transform (7 effect) and assuming the scroll acts with a 2 Speed for the full 5 minutes it's charge lasts: (7/Phase)(2 Phases/Turn)(5 Turns/min)(5 min)=350, which is enough to transform 175 Body, or about 875 Character Points in the end (using the rules for adding abilities, though only very approximately). More potent versions of this scroll could be created for truly epic/godly transformations. Note that the temptation of overstepping one's own power comes at a price: if you don't have the Character Points to fully invest in the new form, you revert completely after 24 hours, with no lasting value except what you might have been able to accomplish in that time. Complete Metamorphosis Transform: 2d6, Severe, Physical (reverts after 1 day unless character has enough points to make new form permanent); Improved Results: any living being (+1); No Range (-1/2); Self Only (-1/2); Charges: 1, 5 minute Continuing, Never Recovers (-11/4) [ 60 active; 13 real ] plus Transform: 2d6, Severe, Mental (reverts after 1 day unless character has enough points to make new form permanent); Improved Results: any living being (+1); No Range (-1/2); Self Only (-1/2); Charges: 1, 5 minute Continuing, Never Recovers (-11/4); Linked (-1/2); [ 60 active; 11 real ] plus Transform: 2d6, Severe, Spiritual (reverts after 1 day unless character has enough points to make new form permanent); Improved Results: any living being (+1); No Range (-1/2); Self Only (-1/2); Charges: 1, 5 minute Continuing, Never Recovers (-11/4); Linked (-1/2); [ 60 active; 11 real ] [ total: 35 real ] Add Limitations for being scroll-based as desired and as appropriate for your campaign: Focus, Incantations, Concentration, etc. (EDIT: Fixed duration and power level because I mixed up number of Turns/min the first time)
