Never date a porn star.  As the one thing worse than not knowing where something has been, is knowing where something has been

Don't date strippers either.  The profession attracts some unfortunately damaged personalities.

I disagree.  To begin with, porn stars and other sex workers, especially those in the Nevada brothels, are tested regularly for sexually transmitted diseases and other health issues.  If they test positive for anything, they don't work.  If they don't work, they don't get paid.  If they don't get paid, they need to find another line of work right quick.  Sex with a porn star is much safer than sex with some stranger with whose sexual history you are unfamiliar.  (Safest of all is sex with a monogamous partner, but that's beside my point.)

More than that, the attitude is a perpetuation of the whole "Madonna-Whore" nonsense that women have had to put up with throughout history, and should have been ditched a long time ago in the efforts to accord women full legal and social equality.  To expect, to insist that a woman remain a virgin until she marries is not only relegating her to secondary status, it is also thoroughly unrealistic.

Now I haven't had any experience with strippers or other sex professionals outside of their working environment--strip clubs, massage parlors, etc--so I won't challenge whatever first-hand experience you may have.  But adult entertainment is not the only profession that attracts emotionally damaged people.  Lenny Bruce, Freddie Prinze, John Belushi, Chris Farley--all destroyed themselves, deliberately or otherwise, through drugs and alcohol.  Yet no one suggests that we shouldn't date comedians. The same goes for actors, musicians, athletes--and that's just in the entertainment professions.  Then there are the professions whose high levels of stress create not only emotional damage, but physical damage--military, police, firefighting, commercial transport (airline piloting, etc.), stock trading, medicine--and that's off the top of my head.  But I've never heard anyone suggest that people shouldn't date soldiers, or cops, or firefighters, or whatever.

Just my thoughts on the subject--take them as you will.
