And tonight the Minister (the DPM John Presscott) came round and talked to people. Nice guy. Particularly since one of the people he talked to is one of my divisional colleagues who happens to be a transvestite (and yes it is obvious). Their policies don't seem to be geared toward making any money. The adjuster called us up and told us he was declaring our car a total loss because the repairs will be more than the cost of the car. He will be issuing a check for the book value of the car. $10,000. Repairing the car will cost $5000. I only paid $8000 for it, come to that. So rather than lay out $5000 to fix our old car, they are paying twice that to buy us a new one. I guess I just don't understand modern business sense.
