  1. Re: 6E Rules changes confirmed so far ONE WARNING This is the ONLY warning that is going to be issued on this: posts in this thread are getting heated. More specifically, they are becoming extremely insulting towards both members of these forums and the owners of this company. This will NOT be tolerated. You are welcome to debate, so long as you keep it civil. Insult other members, and you will be infracted. I will see to it that you are infracted in such a way as to make the remainder of your posts go into a moderation queue, requiring review by the moderation staff prior to going live to the public. This will effectively remove you from this rapidly progressing conversation. Insult owners of the company and you will find yourself unwelcome on these forums (read: banned).
  2. Re: Uthanar Threads Totally my fault. A couple of his threads/posts were in the midst of about 200 spam posts that we got blitzed with...I totally missed 'em. And banned the poor guy to boot While the banning is easily rectified, the posts....not so much. Deleted is deleted (at least, when you do it the way that I did).
  3. Re: Questions from a New Hero Read the documentation. Specifically, the section titled "Previewing, Exporting, And Printing a Character" -- page 32.
  4. Re: Questions from a New Hero STR: You're running into the marvels of rounding rules. It's not "total the STR and divide by two" -- it's divide each "purchase" of STR by two, rounding each calculation, and then totaling the lot of 'em. If you have 45 STR as a Characteristic and 15 STR as a Power, then the calculation would be: 45/2 + 15/2 = 22.5 + 7.5 = 23 + 8 = 31 You would do similar for CON during the calculation of STUN.
  5. Re: What makes an Advantage Naked? Err...not really. 20 DEF as a Characteristics plus Hardened on the base Characteristic costs you 54 points for the base Characteristic, plus 15 points for the Hardened -- 69 points total. Selling off the base 2 points of DEF and buying 20/20 Armor costs you -6 points for the sell-off of DEF plus 75 points for the Armor. The net total is 69 points -- exactly what you would get for building it as straight DEF.
  6. Re: What makes an Advantage Naked? Errr...It's easy to do in HD. As a Naked Advantage: Purchase "Naked Advantage", assign Hardened, and set the points for the base Power appropriately (to the cost of the Vehicle's DEF, in this case). As a modification of the base Characteristic (not a Naked Advantage): Open "DEF" on the Powers tab, check "Apply Modifiers to Base Characteristic" and then assign Hardened.
  7. Re: I had a descussion with Steve about buying some Hero's books... Nope. It is up to the mods whether he is going to be allowed back into the forums. At this point in time, he is banned and I strongly suspect that it is going to remain that way. So folks are clear: threats of physical violence to any forum member will not be tolerated.
  8. Re: While Hero System is at an all time low in Pittsburgh, M&M is on top. While discussion of other systems is perfectly fine, blatant attempts to shill them on Hero Games' forums are simply not tolerated. Nor are these forums to be used for mindless (and baseless) bashing of the Hero System. Sorry if this stance offends....
  9. Re: Knockback and Power Frameworks As a note: both of those are settings which can be adjusted under the campaign rules -- they default to the Hero System rules, which is to warn (i.e. get GM approval). You can turn off the warning (and just allow them in general) or disallow them entirely, if desired.
  10. Re: Help With Build (1) Positive. 5ER 244-245
  11. Re: How to rescue civilians caveat: not an official answer (obviously) No. I'd allow the 1d6/1" damage swap for the base Throw damage (before STR). i.e. the damage that is caused by the target's velocity prior to the throw. Any STR that is added into the equation to extend the distance will cause damage to the target. Would likely be a good question for Steve....
  12. Re: How to rescue civilians The confusion appears to be between Throw (the maneuver) and throw (the action). Throw: I'm going to slam you into the ground (hard). Optionally, I can choose to have you hit at an "oblique" to the ground -- skidding you along it. The more oblique the angle, the less damage you're going to take and the further you're going to skid along the ground. throw: I'm going to hurl you through the air. You will take damage when you hit the ground (unless you know how to Breakfall) based on how far/hard I throw you. The question you cited refers to Throw (the maneuver), not throw (the action).

  14. Re: OMGWTFBBQ is there a HERO Glossary? Just call it TUA and explain the acronym in the document.
  15. Re: Martial Arts, Foci, and Possibly HD
  16. Re: Martial Arts, Foci, and Possibly HD Almost, but not quite. The Limitations are applied against the total cost of the Advantaged Maneuver. The main rules caveat in play that prevents Limitations from having any effect on a non-Advantaged Maneuver is that a Maneuver cannot be reduced below its initial/base cost. Take, for example, Charge: Base cost of the Maneuver: 4 points Cost of the Maneuver with +1 in Advantages applied: 44 points Cost of the Maneuver with +1 in Advantages and -1 in Limitations applied: 22 points. If you only applied Limitations to the Naked Advantage portion of the build, the math would be easy (or easier) and the final cost with Limitations of the above would work out to 24 points (44 - 4)/(1+1) + 4. Limitations apply to Maneuvers but cannot reduce the cost below the starting point (base cost).
  17. Re: Martial Arts, Foci, and Possibly HD
  18. Re: Martial Arts, Foci, and Possibly HD No clue what you're doing, but when I make a List with +2 in Advantages and add Maneuvers to the List, I get point costs of 84 points for Charge, 55 points for Defensive Block, 64 points for Counterstrike, etc. Sure seems to be working to me. If I then apply Limitations to the list, the costs are reduced appropriately.
  19. Re: Martial Arts, Foci, and Possibly HD
  20. Re: Martial Arts, Foci, and Possibly HD Technically, all are correct -- Limitations do not apply to the Maneuver, but to the pseudo-Naked Advantage that is applied to the Maneuver. They apply to the increase in Active Cost from any Advantages that have been applied. Calculating just what that increase is turns out to be rediculously complicated, but that's just the nature of the beast, in this case.
  21. Re: Martial Arts, Foci, and Possibly HD Feel free -- won't affect the cost any, as the Limitations apply to the Advantaged cost of the Maneuver (effectively, the Advantages are treated as Naked Advantages, applying to the calculated Active Cost of the Maneuver) -- yes, it is rediculously complicated....no arguments here. If you have, for example, Charge purchased with +1 in advantages, the Active Cost is 44. Limitations apply to the +40 points from the Advantages. If you apply +0 in Advantages, there is nothing for the Limitations to apply to, so they have no effect.
  22. Re: Martial Arts, Foci, and Possibly HD You're not applying any Advantages. A Limitation will only affect an Advantaged Maneuver (once again, in accordance with the rules of the system).
