  2. Hello Steve, I have a doubt about the Casual Strength Roll effect that is allowed to do after been Grabbed. If your foe Grabs you and you succeed in the STR contest as a defender, does that mean that you are immune from your foe Touch Powers as he managed only to touch you and not grab you (for example a Damage Shield). My example turns around the Rogue (Marvel TM) character that sometimes jumped on foes to kiss them. Using the HERO System, it means she would Grab a target and attempt a "kiss attack". But What if the foe she attacks frees himself using Casual Strength ? Does that means that her power didn't work or did it ? Regards and tia Opale
  3. Re: Coming Soon: The Sylvestri Family Reunion! We are actually playing a mysthic Campaign and using most of your previous creations, so, omg yes ! Looking forward to discover your formidable work Occult Opale
  4. Re: Kurzhaan the Conqueror Btw you don't need a special dispensiation for the Multiform thingy, because of the VPP. Imho, The VPP could include the Multiform... Opale.
  5. Re: Kurzhaan the Conqueror Waowwwww ! I'm just totally fan ! Opale.

  7. Re: The Serpent's Crown Thanks GW ! Now to be sure I understood well : I create the character, then in the Character Power I create and IA like I'd create a follower or a vehicle (? I didn't find any IA selectionnable line) for 1/5 cost (Example 10 AP gives the IA 50 AP). and then the Character has access to all the IA Power and such, including Complications/Disadvantages ? Robotized Opale.
  8. Re: The Serpent's Crown Sowwwy it's Brigade du serpent in French.. couldn't know Summon ing ? what the hell is that ? And how do you include an IA in a character sheet please ? Opale, spanking for the MAJOR mistakes on copyrighted team names !
  9. Aloha ! I recently read again some old comics and discovered the Serpent's Crown from Marvel (ie the Serpent Brigad). And I wondered, how would you build such an item. to me it's a Focus or even a "mystical powered armor", that gives the wearer lots of mental abilities. But it's something that seems to have it's own intelligence, knowledge, and goals. So how would you build such a thing ? is that a simple Focus ? An IA (btw how to you include an IA in a character sheet ??) Some reptilian help would be appreciated SSsssssssneaky Opale.
  10. Re: Possible City of Heroes campaign I played CoX for 5 years, and could provide you with lots of different character ideas if you need them ^^ CoXing Opale.
  11. Re: Role-Playing the Mantle of Heroism Interesting to see everyone point of view. in my experience, I HAVE to listen intently to whatever the players say or do, and I tend to assist to any exchange they have, because I think it's my responsibility to be sure the characters my players act DON'T SAY or DO something their character won't !! Yes it's a bit invasive but that way I'm sure noone step away too far or too long from the orginal goal of the campaign : for everyone to have fun in a specified setting. After, well it's everyone choice to stick to a genre or not. Danger is when players accaparate the game too much and don't understand when you say them "no". Still hoping for more exchange, Opale.
  12. Re: Role-Playing the Mantle of Heroism long time I didn't watch Babylon 5 Opale.
  13. Aloha. I recently read again an article in the Silver Ages Sentinel book, about impersonating a hero. And by extension a superhero. I think it captures the essence of what made the comics book a special genre to me and inspired my choices. I have to admit that cult of the hero is a thing largely laughed at in France for tons of cultural reasons, which maybe explain why the Superhero subgenre is few played in here. So my question is purely rhetorical, but are you having hard times making your players understand what kind of character a super-powered game like champions is supposed to propel ? Responsibilites, Doing the hardest thing, Humility, Hope... are those concept still vivid in your actual gaming tables ? How do your players react to frustration, failure or against a world that want them to fall down like drugged sport or movie stars ? For mundane people it's always easier to promote someone fall than to improve one self, so... Multicultural Opale.

    Psyber

Re: Psyber I like the concept. But beside having no movement power (and yes, it's a big mistake to not do in most Superheroes games I played), he has very low REC and END. END can be explained, but will make him unefficient very quickly; and there are foes that drain your energy (END). And REC would provide a backup when you are KOed... Personally I'd lower a bit his PD/ED and give him more END & REC. Just my feeling. Opale, still no empathy with machines alas.

    Mimic

Re: Mimic Thanks Hyperman. I didn't understood all in your build, especially the low control pool cost (28 points?), but i'll study it better Opale.

    Mimic

Re: Mimic Thanks DocSamson. About keeping all abilities, it's what I wished, but I doubt it's the case. But again, I had to push up a bit the limit the GM made I can be convincing when need be.. erm ermm. Anyway, it's a VPP with 100 points pool and 100 points Control, for making Mimic able to copy a character up to 500 points max, and including a Reversion Limitation -1/2 (so 67 points Pool finally) described on my old 5th Edition. And yes , all your help and ideas where made of good use, so thanks to all one more time Opale, mimicking the Millenial masters the best she can.
  17. Re: Are Thanos and Darkseid the Same Person? Check for Squadron Suprem, Cassandra. A full copy of the JLA inthe Marvel Universe. And the story is pretty good Opale.

    Mimic

Re: Mimic So, to respond as completely as possible. Normally sh'ed be able to copy any power/characteristic/skill from her target, including the Combat skill levels. Yes it's odd, but given the active cost limit allowed in the campaign, and she already overgoes it (100 points is quite large but permit to copy most villains we meet), it is the only solution I've found. If you or anyone know a better way, I'd gladly know about it Then, we use a "common sense" multiform understanding, meaning she'd normally gain all the abilities of ther target, with the choice to loose them at any moment. If she tries to copy someone too powerful for her (Cf Rogue vs Magneto/Warlock/Sprial), she'd crumble by schock or such. Regarding the armor for example, as it's a focus, I wondered how to make it unusable with powers that would normally damage it (ie. copying a flame aura for the Human Torch for instance; Rogue doing it ends all naked, her clothings been not ignifugated). As for the OCV, I know she lacks offensive skill and in a way it's normal, as she'd be able to use someone's power as well as this person do. Tricky build to be playable by a PC, but that's the intent. Mimicking Best character builder attempt number 1, from Opale.

here's the last evolution of Moon Silver Character that was created by the good Enforecer84, in our Octagon Campaign. Actually some very bad things happened to her, and she became the Mimic... She was content to go to school, get her grades and eventually become a translator or interpreter. She was always good with languages and loved learning new ones. Then one of her school mates kidnapped her. He said she was to be the sacrifice at the full moon to bring eternal night. At the last minute she was rescued by just as the ceremony reached its climax. Many assumed that the spell had been dissipated harmlessly. A couple of week later Erin knew it wasn't true. The energy went somewhere alright, straight into her. She sought out the hero group that rescued her for help, to see if they could remove the power. When it was found that it had bonded to her and would only be removed with her death, she decided to make to best of it and use the powers. She joined the Octagon Supergroup to fight all kind of threats to mankind. One day she was trapped with her Teammates of the Octagon House supergroup by villains that made them accused of terrorism, and she spent enough time in custody in the PRIMUS HQ of San Francisco to decide when this story will end for good, she'll do all she could to loose her powers and live a normal life. And that's what happened.. or nearly. She turned to God and the illuminate of the New Dawn, a growing community of christian puritans that promised the "supernaturals" to heal them from there unholy abilities. She was fraid, she was desperate, and she welcomed the support those afraid but religious people offered her after having been treated like a freak. And in a night of sacred prayers, it seems the DEMON Morbane that was controlling this sect, managed to rip off her powers from her. That's what she thought. But the only thing he did was transfering the holy light god power from her body to be replaced with some Greedy corruption, that turned her into a powerful tool. Soon she realized her curse and the battle against the Morbane came to lethal climax when her freinds from the Octagon House came to rescue her. The Morbane was dead, and she was now a mimicking power stealer, which touch was uncontrollably deadly and able to rip someone thoughts with just a brush of flesh. Her body was a prison, and it would be her redemption from having failed. Now she's known as Mimic. And her new story begins. Personality/Motivation: Once joyful and cheerful, tough shy and well educated, Erin has turned slightly more gloomy and sad, her new powers giving her hard time in most social situations. Quote: No quote as she feels they are silly. Powers/Tactics: Erin powers have made her a Thoughts stealer and power mimicker. She has aswell the ability to supercharge her hands with her own life force, weakening herself when she does so, and short circuiting one foe nerve system when she hits. Actually she's able to copy any foe full abilities and skills, but only one at a time. She didn't receive a close combat training yet, so her offensive skills are still in progress. Campaign Use: She discovers her new powers and new how dangerous they can be, both physically and socially. She has a "Rogue Syndrome" (Marvel TM), been both wishing physical intimacy and refusing herselfto do so in fear of hurting someone. She kept her old vulnerabilities and complications in waiting that the character "stabilize" in a way or another (yes 215 points of Complications is a bit too much). Appearance: Out of costume a rather charming pretty young lady of about 18 years old, with blond hair and green eyes. Else she wears a full body covering costume in silver and gold fabric, with only face and hair free. She uses to pull off her gloves when she needs to use her power stealer abilities.
  20. Re: Would you allow this? I don't want it to become a boring campaign, for either of my PCs, so no. Well, afterall, each GM is allowed to bomb his own campaign; But I tend to not let terrorist-Players do the trick. CIA Agent Opale, for a better RPG world.

  24. Re: Focus others can activate Requires Multiple User Limiter then ?
  25. Re: Focus others can activate In fact I don't understand this post. Sorry, maybe my blondeness is getting the best of me... it happens, especially in autumn... But to me, it is a common sense thing. And a comic book thing. I.e, I have a magic sword that hasn't an adder telling than no one else can use it ? Well I disarm the hero, and I use it . I find an Iron Man armor in a secret base ? Well I put it on and use it if nothing forbid meto do it. Among the facts that a focus can be taken from a character, to me, it's natural that the main danger is the ability than anyone else can use it. If he can't, then it's not a focus. I'm not sure I'm clear.. am I ? Obvious Very Accessible Focused Opale
