  1. Re: WHy does everything have to be by the rules? FTR, I wasn't in any way responding to one of your posts. Frankly, I didn't even read past the first 3/4 of the first page of this thread; it just seemed like it'd be split down the middle (opinion wise). I'm not adamantly against hand-waving, it definitely has a place & time, but I am just squarely in the always try real hard to stat-it-out *first* camp Mightybec, the GM that introduced me to the system believes very much like you do. P.S. - My particular brand of gaming is hack 'n slash (heavy emphasis on combat). When I find hand-waving most useful is in the role playing (of story) parts.
  2. Re: WHy does everything have to be by the rules? Very well said. I wholeheartedly agree & couldnt've said it better myself!
  3. Re: Fire Extinguisher Go Boom Even though I'm only a casual visitor concerning this thread, I want to sincerely thank Toadmaster & ghost-angel for sharing so many detailed & informative facts!! Thanks!!
  4. Re: Fire Extinguisher Go Boom Just a thought, but a small character might take some cold damage from a fire extinguisher.
  5. Re: "Get Over Here" Thanks for the reference. I checked it out & very much like it too. I still haven't settled on my final version yet, I'm kinda waiting for DC before I commit. But I've sure got a lot of good ideas from this thread! Thanks

    The 4400

Re: The 4400 Thanks for the effort! I've been looking too.

    The 4400

Coming Back? Just thought I'd ask again (as others have) if anyone knows any details about when The 4400 might be returning [for a 2nd "season"]? I really liked the show & hope it comes back sometime sooner, rather than later. IMO, the show got better with each epi.
  8. Re: Really cool automatic reloads... I agree w/ Zorn on this one. I'd simply buy the 0 END straight; Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2). I've seen it ('n used it) on sword builds, so I'd bet it could apply to a gun. But I'm not positive.
  9. Re: "Get Over Here" You Are My HERO!!! You've made my week (well, You and Hellboy's DVD release!) QUAKE HERO is about to take flight! I know nothing about Board Rep here, but I will now investigate it to give you as much as I can! THANKS!!!
  10. Re: Vampire: the Masquerade using the HERO system Here's another helpful reference: http://surbrook.devermore.net/whitewolf/WODvampire.html
  11. Re: What's the most useless supplement you'd actually like to see? Geriatric Hero Incontinent Hero.... oh wait, they're one 'n the same
  12. Re: Really cool automatic reloads... Killer Shrike, Just a historical note. Equilibrium actually came out before Reloaded had even started filming. It's been said by many, including on the Equilibrium commentary, that they probably were borrowing/homaging the Grammaton outfit for Neo. It also served the dual purpose of [visually] illustrating Neo's improved command/discipline over his (super)powers. If you haven't heard the Equilibrium commentary, check it out. It's highly illuminating
  13. Re: Really cool automatic reloads... Nice Idea! I like how you think
  14. Re: Super Monster-Hunters Need Your Help! Thanks LL, I'll no doubt add that one to my collection now! Especially w/ there being no DH this month Thanks a lot
  15. Re: "Get Over Here" Thanks for the great suggestions. Seems like both approaches could work. Has anybody seen an 'official' (5E printed) writeup for such a device? If so please tell me where. Thanks Again Maybe it'll be comin in either Pulp Hero or Dark Champions. I'm surprised there's nothing like this (specifically) in G&G or either NH/UMA.
  16. Re: Super Monster-Hunters Need Your Help! Is Kandris Seal written w/ 5th Edition rules? Their sample .pdf seemed to indicate so, but I'm still unsure. Thanks
  17. Anyone written up Scorpion's (from Mortal Kombat) ability to pull another towards you? I can't figure it out. I imagine entangle & grab come into play, but what power brings the target to you (transform? from being over there, to being over here?). Similarly, I've wanted a "rocket powered" grapnel hook - like the one so commonly used in Quake (and other death-match/capture the flag PC games). Like the one Kim Basinger gets pulled up w/ in Burton's first Batfilm. I've got every 5E book, and have looked for such a writeup to no avail. I have found grapnel guns (w/ swinging & climbing), but none that actively pull a subject. Help would be greatly appreciated
  18. Re: Really cool automatic reloads... don't forget the cool reloading mechanism Lara Croft (Jolie) wore in the 1st Tomb Raider, I liked that one even better than the Equilibrium reloader. On the other hand, those weeble-wobble clips (slid on the floor, in Equilibruim) were a really cool idea/scene.
  19. Trek Hero PDF available Thanks so much for the ongoing updates!! I'm always dazzled by your labor (of love). The Sisko writeup is pretty impressive. I believe I'll use it as the basis for a version you've just inspired me to make. I've been really itchin to convert some Trek (2377) heroes to 5E so's my PCs can interact w/ them. I'd vote for Picard as the next post
  20. I'm very used to building RSR Penalties into powers for the point cost savings... however I do have a question. Does changing a "Required Skill Roll" into a "Required Attribute Roll" (i.e., requires CON Roll) remove the -1 for every 10 active point penalties?? If I'm building some kind of lockpicking power, I'd prefer to lose the RSR Penalty if I can simply substitute a Required (straight) DEX roll instead.
  21. Re: Hattori Hanzo Steel Thanks guys, great ideas. I hadn't visited Surbrook's "Enchanted Weapons" page in awhile. And Megaplayboy, you and I were definitely thinking along the same lines Is targeting an opponents weapon as simple as declaring it as ones primary target? Thanks T.
  22. Hattori Hanzo Steel... any suggestions? Obviously buying extra BODY & DEF for an item works, and of course there's always Darth Vader's lightsaber over on Surbrook's site. But anybody done anything on this subject? Also, anyone got a favorite technique for weapon (body) vs. weapon (body) combat?? I've got a lot of PCs with swords, but until seeing Kill Bill (Vol.1) I hadn't really considered the potential of having someone else's sword simply chop mine in half. How might someone build a sword to defend against one?
  23. If a firearm has a 10 STR minimum (such as with a .45 cal gun), does a PC need 20 STR to fire two simultaneously (as w/ Two Weapon Fighting)??
  24. Rand, You must be lovin the new ads runnin for the next CSI "Looks like Vampires are in North Las Vegas", hehe. I wonder if any of their writers frequent (or even occasionally visit) this board?! Perhaps you've made an impression Mark
