  1. Re: Superhuman women and normal women Well said. Repped! This is the sort of thing I was curious about, if it had entered into anyone's campaigns to explore such issues. EDIT: Well, I tried to rep, but I've apparently hit him once already recently. As soon as I can though.
  2. Re: Traveller Hero Update Ah, I didn't realize it might not be canon. I thought they sounded like a cool race idea for those wanting a hulking alien warrior type without going Aslan.
  3. Given that superhuman women tend to have bodies that would make most supermodels envious, how would a world with superhumans affect culture in this area? Would teenage girls be even more body conscious when comparing themselves to such beings in the media? In Champions, it talks about superhumans having bodies that don't get fat. Imagine a world with women with perfect physiques who don't have to live on water and lemon juice or take dieting to extremes to maintain their figures. Would superhuman women take advantage of their physiques to do modeling or otherwise take advantage of their heightened appearances? Sell cosmetics? Would any do adult movies or pose in Playboy to make money? How would feminists treat superhuman women? As role models? What impact would superhuman women have on the lives of normal women?
  4. Re: Traveller Hero Update Found the name with a little research. Race: Urzaeng (Vargr) Status: widespread Vargr minor race Home world: probably in Gzaekfueg sector Colonies In: throughout Vargr Extents Taller and more powerfully built than humans, these massive Vargr can take on Aslan males in unarmed melee. Originally bred for guard duty and menial labor, they tend to lack full mental faculties. (Big & dumb).
  5. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... A friend of mine has this sort of inverted dice karma, the fewer dice he rolls the higher the average and sometimes even the higher the total. Example: He rolls 10d6 on an attack and gets 35 STUN and 10 BODY, but give him 8d6 and he'll get 40 STUN and 12 BODY.
  6. Re: Traveller Hero Update Quick question on alien races in Traveller Hero. The Vargr have a subrace that is larger and tougher than the standard version, but the name of this subrace escapes me. Will they be included in the final version of Traveller Hero?
  7. Re: Traveller=Pulp Hero+Star Hero Firefly has a sort of Pulp feel to it too, now that I think on it a bit.
  8. Re: City of Heroes (Champions of Champion) So who is still playing on the Champion server (or any server)? I've been thinking of getting back into the game after a year away, but I only had characters on Champion.

  10. In looking over my Classic Traveller sourcebooks, it gives me a pulpish sort of sci-fi feel. Has anyone else noticed this?
  11. Can an Adjustment Power affect Talents? For example, could you Dispel or Drain a target's Lightning Reflexes or Absolute Time Sense?
  12. Re: House rules for Comliness - critique, please One thing to consider is how such bonuses work with the various Interaction Skills. Considering the above example, I could see her as having a bonus to Interrogation and maybe Streetwise for some of those on most everyone, but not Seduction and Conversation unless the person is into that sort of appearance. Appearance-based Talents can also be broken out by Sense Group. Sight is one area where someone can be attractive, but Hearing and Smell have an effect as well. Maybe a man isn't very attractive physically, but he has a powerful voice (which would add to Oratory and some other skills). Some Appearance Talents could also represent the opposite side of attraction, like fear or revulsion. Consider someone like Darth Vader. Yes, you could just give him a huge PRE score, but consider giving him Talents like Menacing Voice or Imposing Height instead. Reputation works this way, and a character could buy Talents for Appearance like it, scaling the cost using the Small Group to Large Group and 8- to 14- determinants for usefulness. Great Body works as 3 points by saying Large Group 14- for how many people it covers.
  13. Re: Stopping a Zeppelin following a Zeppelin? I suddenly had this image of Skymaster with a command crew taken from experts around the world: a Russian helmsman, a Scottish chief engineer, a Swahili radio operator, etc.
  14. Re: Traveller Hero Update Any news? Anything at all?
  15. Re: Dark Champions the Anime Series I'm wondering if Revy might have Deadly Blow with handguns at +1d6 and an extra +1d6 with her Sword Cutlasses.
  16. Re: Grond vs. A Cow Grond should beware the cow from Kung Pao: Enter The Fist. It knows kung fu.

    Jonah Hex?

Has anyone done a write-up of DC's infamous Old West bounty hunter?
  18. Re: Fourth-tier super-teams Here's one I heard suggested for a Teen Champions game as a villain: The Chessmaster Picture a nerdy guy with glasses, brilliant but a major geek/dork. Spurned by the world (which is obviously jealous of his brilliance at the game of kings called Chess), he has turned to a life of crime. After pushing up his horn-rimmed glasses that keep falling down (complete with tape on the nosebridge), the Chessmaster speaks with a nasally voice, "So heroes, prepare to face my chessboard of DOOOOM!" then laughs loudly, broken up by the occasional snort.
  19. Re: ONE power: what do you do with it? Heh. Here's a couple that occurred to me at lunch. Ultimate Marketing: A Fully Invisible, Megascaled Mind Control (to Planetary Level) only to influence others to buy a certain product. "Hero Games books are selling out every week! They're more popular than D&D and White Wolf products combined. What could be causing this?" "They finally got better artists?" The Terrorists Are There: A Megascaled Mind Scan, only to find terrorists, Usable By Others. "How do the Americans keep finding us? Our hideouts are foolproof!"
  20. Re: ONE power: what do you do with it? Actually, with Teleportation with planetary capability, that would make someone the perfect courier. "We need to get this heart to San Francisco within the hour for a transplant!" "But we're in Spain! It's impossible!" "No, I know just the man to contact. Get me... the Transporter!" Of course, governments would love to get their hands on someone with such a power.
  21. Re: Vulnerability vs. Interaction Skill Per Ultimate Skill, this is one of those areas where Psychological Limitations can come into play, but I keep thinking that a Vulnerability might be more appropriate where a dice-rolling mechanic gets involved. Example: Character A has Vulnerability: Easily Swayed (-2 to EGO Rolls vs. Seduction Rolls) for 5 points (or 10 or more if easily perceived or known Limitation, I would guess). versus Example: Character B has Psychological Limitation: Easily Swayed (Unc, Mod) The first example seems more correct to me.
  22. Something I was pondering today was how to write up a Disadvantage representing a character being more vulnerable to different Interaction Skills. I'm thinking it would be a 5-10 point Vulnerabilty per Skill involved, but I'm not sure if the mechanic would be better to give a bonus to the person with the skill (+2 maybe?), or a penalty to resisting it (-2 to EGO roll?). Here are some examples I considered: Blabbermouth (vs Conversation) Born Follower (vs. Oratory) Gullible (vs. Persuasion) Easily Swayed (vs. Seduction) Any thoughts on this notion for a Vulnerability?
  23. Inspired by reading this thread, it got me to wondering what would make for an interesting circus in a fantasy world. An Elven archer doing trick shooting? An illusionist working phantasmal images? Orcs as clowns? An actual mermaid? What would a fantasy circus look like to you?
