  1. I think the dice should, of course, be FREd themed; Black dice with flourescent green dots..... I also like the idea of the d3's. So what's the word, Steve? Is anything like this actually in the works? Even if it were a limited run, I'd buy it just for the novelty alone. Although it would be nice if there LOTS of them......
  2. Usually need hot sauce, though. Plus, they tend to be a bit stringy.
  3. Re: Farscape HERO I'm still tryin to wrap my brain around B5 Hero and Battlestar Galactica HERO. I must confessed, I've never watched Farscape, but it looks very interesting. I'm sure that with a little inginuity from herodom assembled, someone is working on this. In fact, I beleive this was a big topic of discussion on the old boards.
  4. I see, says the blind man. FLGSs must not exist in my area, I just cancelled my order through the local guys here. I ordered UMA two months ago, and I get a different excuse every time as to why it's not in. I bet if I had ordered a display box worth of Yu-Gi-O! cards, they'd be there in 3 days... But that's okay, we now have a debit card, so I can order online. My copy is being sent as we speak and will arrive at my door no later than Friday. Champions, then TE will be next.
  5. I guess you could look at it in one of two ways; 1)Most experienced gamers that prefer point-based games will likely want to build their PC from the ground up. or 2) Really experienced players, and most newbies, might find it challenging to think up a rationalle for those seemingly contradictory items that end up in the writeup.
  6. Re: Re: It has arrived! FLGS? Translation please? I know I've heard that one before, just not quite sure what it means.
  7. In that case, I'll get UMA first. TE is definately next, though. I have an itch to run an SH game, and besides; I've got to support that SH line of books if I want mt favorite game company to produce more of them, eh?
  8. Okay Herodom, here's my quandry... Funds are limited. I'm trying to catch up on the books that I want. Needless to say, TE is high on my priority list. However I have also heard that the print run (?) is almost sold out for a lot of the earlier books. Does this mean they'll no longer be available? Unless demand warrants a reprint? Should I get UMA while I still can, or get TE first?
  9. I'm not too worried either. I just find it ridiculous that NASA's "best and brightest", didn't stop to think that it'll burn up in an alien atmosphere just like any other meteor. Of course, I realize I probably don't have the whole story, but still...
  10. That was a joke? Actually sounds right on the money to me...
  11. Silly humanoid... That depends on your definition of alien. I'm sure that the American 'Indians', or your ancient Romans after the fall of their 'empire' would tend to disagree. Seriously, sorry to get the thread off topic. I was curious, though... Let's assume that Pioneer just keeps on going, and manages somehow to survive long enough (a VERY long time) to make it to another (inhabited) star system. It's a spacecraft, yes, but IIRC, it was never designed to land; no ceramic heat shielding. At least not over the gold plaque on the side. So... It makes it all the way out there, comes to a planet filled with intelligent, space-capable beings,..... and burns up horribly in the atmosphere, melting/destroying that fancy gold plaque.....
  12. Oh, really..... (((begins powering up armor))) Red Kryptonite Armor: Multipower (all Only Versus Kryptonians) Armor (40 PD/40 ED), Hardened x10, OIF, Always On HKA 30d6, Penetrating, Armor Piercing x25
  13. Throw aways ARE disappointing, but useful for a one-shot... Using them as a springboard? Well, that's how I prefer my random generators anyway. Especially if I'm stuck for ideas.
  14. I've heard from a little birdie that Champions 5th has a random character generator. Is this true? If so, have any herophiles out there used it and did it work well for you?
  15. Go to "Surbrook's Stuff" in Hero Links. You should be able to find something there. It's one of the first places I'd look.
  16. We have picked it up. And we are coming..... human.
  17. Re: A Matter Stream Its basically a bunch of matter broken down into an energy pattern and transmitted to an apropriate receiver. Think Star Trek transporter..........
  18. I found a Random Character generator at: http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Cavern/1905/haym03.html written by Dave Mattingly. Works great, and makes quick, beleivable characters in a pinch.
  19. Two arrows simultaneously; Autofire (2 shots) Arrow as melee weapon; HKA or Martial Maneuver w/Weapon Element
  20. Re: Wow Actually, I was about to comment on your previous post, since I was actually thinking of the same take on this power. However, I felt compelled to followup on everyone else's take on this, and I just now caught up... I have to agree with you on your write up. I was thinking (dangerous, I know, but that happens sometimes), that I should try and work backwards from the effects. The power is intended to stop time. Well, being a long time fan of theoretical physics, (even if I only understand half of it), I realized that time stops for the user in relation to the rest of the universe. So the character has to step out of the universe. Hence, Extradimensional Movement. Now, time really only stops in the universe from the PCs POV. To the rest of us he wouldn't even seem to disappear, or anything. Things would just be different all of a sudden. But how is it that XDM is defined in this case? Time is one of the 4 'perceived dimensions' of which we IRL are all aware. It is a dimension, and as such,is being travelled through to the same point over and over again indefinately until the PC turns it off. Hence, "Only To The Beginning Of User's Phase". (although I might make that Specified Phase?) Now, the problem comes from the character's ability or lack thereof to interact with the rest of the universe. A character with this power, theoretically, could stop time, walk up to the the big Dr. D, and with (e.g.) a piece of notebook paper (and one helluva paper cut), slice the Jugular of said supervillain. over and over and over... Needless to say, that would be a hugely abusive power. So to keep that from happening, if the Player really wanted the power, I would require him to have something in place which would keep him from making any real changes to the universe and less paperwork for me. Hence, Desolid.
  21. Re: One other thing to model Requires PS: Micronization Device Operation Skill Roll (-1/2) (see FREd page 199)
  22. Re: Re: Rules Q (not in the FAQ) I agree. A targeting sense is simply the one of five senses you use to focus on the target. For most of us this would be the sight group. A PC with Targeting Sense (Hearing) would simply give him the ability to close his eyes and still "see" the target. This would not, however, confer any bonus to hit in order to counterbalance any CV penalties. For THAT you'd need some Combat Skill Levels.
  23. Doesn't ring any bells, but maybe that's a good thing. I say take the idea and run with it.
  24. What am I..... Most everyone I know of, at one time or another has wondered "if only I knew what they were really thinking. If only I could just get inside their head..." Well, for those folks, that wish has been granted; What Am I Supposed To Be, A Mind Reader? : 10d6 Telepathy; Sticky (+.5), Uncontrolled (+.5); Always On (-.5), Receive Only (-.5), IIF "Red Goo Nanobots" (-.25), 1 charge (-2), Charge never recovers (-2), Extra Time: 1 day (-4) Base Cost: 50 points Active Cost: 100 points Real Cost: 9 points Thus, the bomb is dropped off in an airport or whatever. The target is infected with Red Goo nanobots (see SH), and they go to town on the victims body, inducing him or her to pick up on EVERY thought being 'thunk' as it is thought. All the time. From multiple sources. Everywhere. Psychopathy should set in shortly after the "infection's" symptoms manifest themselves approximately 24 hours after "Zero Hour".
