  1. Finally! An online gaming distributor that takes checks and money orders. Thank you thank you thank you... I like my local game shop, but they mostly cater to CCGs :mad:and the younger generation of gamers. Very little RPG stuff and the stuff they do have is d20 (blech). Still, while the proprietor seems nice, there's always an excuse as to why it hasn't come in. This is usually followed by a promise to call as soon as it does. Yeah right. Actually, there ARE stores in my area that have HERO products on the shelves (when they can keep them in stock, that is), but those stores are at least 40 miles away. For me in the local traffic, that's about a 2 hour drive one way. If you don't believe me, take a trip on I-85 or I-77 next time your in the Charlotte/Rock Hill region. Anyway,..... Thank you Monolith. I needed that. I'd love to help the local guy out, but more importantly, If I'm going to spend money on a HERO product, they won't benefit if the 'little guy' drops the ball. Too bad for him.
  2. You gotta deal. Besides, it'll give me practice/source material for my homebrewed campaign setting which I'll start work on once I finnish my DC campaign. See you in a few.
  3. I read through your link. Very interesting, but I have a question; What's up with Jaguar being in NC?
  4. Aroooo,... Why not split the workload? If you want to get the website and its contents (the ships) up and running (a 'noble goal'), why not have some of your fellow herophiles do the writeups. Just have them submitted to you for your approval. Or would you prefer to do the writeups yourself (also a 'noble goal') ? Just tryin to help....
  5. FIST - The Foundation for International Standardized Technologies. This was a Japanese-based Megacorp from a cyberpunk game I was running. The campaign had a strange twist on it though. Drawing inspiration loosely from the prophecies of Nostradamus, the leader was a Japanese 'Third Antichrist' that caused all sorts of very mystical things to happen in a world that no longer believed in God (in any religioun/incarnation), or faith, etc. This of course only facilitated his and his corporation's rise to power.
  6. Okay, now I'm confused. I recently took a double-take on this topic, re-read your post, and re-checked page 77,78. Now, if I understand correctly, Ablative works (see above post/quote) as discussed. HOWEVER, as a variant, per GM option, it would be a -1 only if there was excess BODY and the BODY wouldn't be taken as BODY damage, it would work on the Act Pts of the ablative defense?
  7. I loved that website. Thank you, thank you, thank you. That site brought back a lot of memories. Now I suddenly feel an urge to writeup about 30 different ship types. Maybe a dozen or so bases........
  8. I assume from your post that this setting (and it's related webpage) are still under construction? What else can you tell us about the overall history of galactic civilization, culture, etc.?
  9. Re: Re: Re: B5 Hero: Aurora Starfury Me personally I see the ship as having a big enough END reaserve to power the weapons, but a lower REC to represent the fact that it is not, IIRC, long range capable without jump tech. How about buying down the REC to say, 50 REC?
  10. Subject to Orders and Watched actually kind of belong together. A police officer is subject to orders. If the police officer isn't watched, he could turn into a rouge cop/bad cop. Which can, does, and has happened.
  11. GM: "Okay, so you guys are in a bar........."
  12. Green Lantern Link Good thread. After reading through the discussion, I decided to take a quick look through the links page at Surbrook's Stuff. I had seemed to remember a link to HERO 5th comic book character writeups. But for green lantern specifically; http://www.mactyre.net/scm/deejay/champs/teams/jla.html Enjoy
  13. Here's what I have so far for her campaign. 1. Harpcor Towers: Sniper!--this works really well because her character is an investment banker. Probably has an office there. 2. Boogeyman: murder #1-- Actually plan to break this up over the course of the campaign. It works well for two reasons. One; because her DNPC sister is in ICU (coma) from a brutal sexual assault. (again, ny wife's idea, not mine). Two, because the state university and surrounding area on the north side of town have had media-hyped murders, rapes, et cetera for the last couple years so it helps add a dose of 'scary reality'. 3.VIPER.--Okay, most people I know wouldn't want to use VIPER in a DC campaign (if at all, but what can I say-they're a classic). They'll of course be played down to 'street level' but will be used as a Real Threat. This will probably start as a VIPER recruitment for a new Nest with support from the Charleston, SC or Atlanta, GA Nests. Our Hero recieves an anonymous tip (from Card Shark) about their activities. 4. Card Shark--'Ante Up. round one: one pair'. 5. Boogeyman: murder #2 That's it so far. I'm not sure if I want to plan it out any farther than that. I should probably wait and see how things go with the PC first. Lemme know what you think. Any ideas, comments, suggestions or advice would be appreciated.
  14. Sorry, I was a bit vague. Basically, I was saying that the veritechs should be written up and converted to credits (or whatever currency you plan to use) per the SH Pricing Guide. The Government (taxpayers) would foot the bill.
  15. I was actually thinking of using the NPCs she knows personally in that way. This also works well with the Bogeyman adventure. You see, her PCs boyfriend (her idea, not mine) is a cardiologist...
  16. Thanx guys for the response. The PC actually is a catwoman "rip-off", so I can definately see the Card Shark scenario potential. However, I need some more experience under my belt as a GM. Furthermore, since this will be my wife's first game ever, I decided to go with The Bogeyman. It has a straight-forward plot that's very nice for an introduction. It also reduces paperwork for me. I'll probably pull the Harpcor Towers scenario 'Sniper!' next, followed by the scenarion for the Terrorist attack. Then I can introduce Card Shark. I was also thinking; assuming all goes well, that VIPER should maybe make an apperance early on. It'd be a low-level start-up nest designed for street-level. Imagine Card Shark's dismay (and the PCs) when VIPER seems to be disappearing and noone knows why.....
  17. I would take a cue from Star Hero on this. Call it a Military SF campaign. 75+75 disads. Consider the v-techs Equipment, not Powers. Which brings us to the big question; Who pays for all this stuff? The Government does. They're mostly career military people. They don't own the vehicles as it is and they can only use them with the approval of their commanders.
  18. I know, I was just tryin to start on somthing small. Then I'll work up to something really big.
  19. I'd do damage conversions (monsters or otherwise ) using the Standard Effect Rule. 3 points damage for every die of attack. I'd then finf the midpoint of the damage range of the d20 die, and figure where it would be in relation to the damage class chart. Example: d4 does between 1 nd 4 points of damage. the mid point would be 2.5 damage. this would be closest to 3 points using standard effect, but since it doesn't quite make it, call it a 1/2d6 of HERO damage. 1d6 would be 1d6 HERO d8 would be 4.5 or 1 1/2 d6 HERO etc....
  20. I need some help with my DC campaign. It's pretty much a one-on-one thing. Having looked through my copy of Dark Champions, I'm trying to decide on which adventure to run. What would you do? Run Harpcor Towers, The Bogeyman, or a scenario featuring Card Shark?
  21. naw, just the Local Group. mwahahahaha
  22. Perhaps you could solve the problem with a Psychim or three. Something like "Will Not Remove Emotional Barriers (common, Total)". Of course, in Spock's case, he's only half-vulcan, and has spent a lot of time around humans and other species at length. Sarek on the other was going senile, and on his last leg, so to speak. Getting stuck with the Vulcan equivalent of Alzheimer's would probably go to work on his emotional barriers first.
  23. Here's a scary thought; What if you had a whole fleet of these ships, each armed with lots of these autofiring 'Star Cannons', firing simultaneously? Bet that'd put a damper on your day.
