  1. Courtesy of the wonderful http://www.Pantheon.org : Baron Samedi is one of the Guédés, related to and intertwined with Baron Cemetière and Baron La Croix. He is a Guédé of the Americas, bridging the Guédés and Legba. Both are guardians of the crossroads, the place where spirits cross over into our world. If the intercessions desired are with the loa, then Legba is saluted and asked to allow the loa to participate. If the intercessions are with the dead, then Guédé (Ghede) is the intercessor. Baron Samedi is usually seen wearing top hat, black coat tails, sunglasses, and smoking a cigar. As per genre standard, death gods are often portrayed is villains (This also often occurs with the Egyptian Anubis). I took the idea from Steve Kenson's excellent Freedom City suppliment for another game publisher.

I love it...I having spam, spam, spam, spam, baked beans, spam and spam. (Now all I need is some singing Vikings...)
  3. Got myself into a jam the other night. While introducing my players to my new villain team, the Graveyard Shift, I annouced they had 10 members and then realized I didn't have 10 members made up. They are a death themed team of hitters, except I'm trying to be more subtle than having Deathdealer, Death's Head, Deathguy, etc. Here's who I have so far: Dirge - Sonic Gadgeteer Bonechiller - Ice/Cold Projector Gravedigger - Vibration Projector Pyre - Fire Guy Baron Samedi - Voodoo Necromancer Any suggestions for membership? Thanks in advance!
  4. So what would be a good codename for a hero with powered armor with Superstrength, Ranged Combat, Stealth & Underwater modes?
  5. Crimson Arrow has some good suggestions (as ususal). I also did a super detective with the Precognitive crime scene analysis and the manhunting Mind Scan. Great minds think alike Someone posted this one time (and please take credit if you did)...KS: Everything 24-. That way even if it was a super obscure detail, the detective would still have a good chance of figuring it out. Police Commsioner: "We found traces of a rare alloy called nickle silver on the corpse." Dark Detective: "Which is used in the manufacture of telecommunications equipment. I think Black Harlequin is hiding out in one of the abandoned telecom factories on the outskirts of town."
  6. Oh, that's a good one...I'm a 'stealin' that one fer sure
  7. OK, I used my tiebreaker vote to go with the 'Channeling Dead Heroes' option, because I came up with the following. This is just the creative shot in the arm I needed, because I would've never come up with this concept on my own: Changer crouched behind the remnants of the shattered building. "You have powers, you should join the Good Guys, get an action figure deal. Make some dough. What was I thinking?" The Good Guys were currently getting their heads handed to them by Mechanon. Runner was the first to fall. He sped at the mechanical monster, spouting off some witty repartee, and hammered Mechanon with a hundred blows in the span of seconds. Runner abpruptly fell to his knees, clutching his head. “Neural systems are so…inefficientâ€, stated Mechanon flatly. Automated phone systems showed more emotion. “Runner…No!†Smasher lumbered forward and rocked Mechanon with a punch that would have felled small buildings. The blow actually rocked the robot back on its heels before regaining its balance. Mechanon responded with a blast of energy that hurtled the strongman backwards, smashing through several buildings. Blazer was next. She poured on the heat. The concrete buckled around Mechanon from the stress, but the robot didn’t seem to be affected. It answered back with an erruption of energy that knocked Blazer from the sky. Fighter bounded over to Changer’s position, dodging several energy bursts. “Dammit, they should’ve listened to me instead of charging in there individually.†“What do we do now?†“Whatever we can to stop that thing.†Fighter’s voice had a dire tone. He snatched a weapon from his arsenal belt. Changer swallowed hard. “Join the The Good Guys…it’ll be a hoot.†He formed his hands into gigantic spiked maces. The heroes emerged from their cover and rushed towards Mechanon. The robot’s shoulder plate slid forward and a missle rack sprung up. “Detonation should eliminate 99.8% of organic life in a 500 meter radius. Most efficient." There was a bright flash and a roaring in Changer’s ears. “Join The Good Guys…it’ll be the last thing you ever do.†Changer awoke surprised to be alive. Mechanon’s missle had destroyed his teammates. It was only his metamorphic form that had saved him, and the explosion seemed to have robbed him of that. It was when he was remembering his fallen comrades that he realized that he could change into them and use their powers, even take on some of their personality traits. The explosion must have mixed some of their DNA with his and when he reconstitued himself, incorporated it into himself. Dedicating himself to their memory, he continues to fight evil to this day as The Good Guy, the one man superteam! So I figure our hero took the superteam's name as his new codename, so anyone have a team name that could also be a codename. And how about some real names for Changer (our metamorph), Runner (speedster), Smasher (Brick), Blazer (Fire EB), and Fighter (Weaponsmaster)? (BTW, the rest of the team was made from the runner-ups from the first poll)
  8. I think he's ok, its just the cowl that looks goofy...something I whipped up in a couple minutes.
  9. The Mob's edge would be its low profile against the brightly colored VIPER. A smart boss would give VIPER enough rope to hang themselves with then drop a dime to the local hero team. The masks smash the operation, and the Mob moves in to retake the criminal enterprise. Drugs are one thing I could see VIPER and The Mob forming an uneasy alliance over. VIPER would have the smuggling resources and money laundering operations and the Mob would run the day-to-day street operations. After all, who would want to score off of a guy in a green and gold uniform
  10. Winterhawk: Think that there's a problem he can't solve...and figure out women. Hellion: Very few things he won't do, especially to get rid of his wretched existence.
  11. I run the Mob in my campaign just opposite of Hermit. They have a strict 'no freaks' rule for their mechanics. Its bad enough when normal underlings are after your job, much less ones that you can't whack when they get to be a problem. If a special situation ie. a mask takes interest in their operations, they might hire a superhuman 'independent contractor' to handle the problem. The nice thing about groups like VIPER is that cops and heroes have a tendancy to go after 'freaks in spandex with ray guns' rather than the garden variety mobster. My Mob lays low, collects their money and stays out of costumed affairs. "It's the Chicago way." The Russian Mob, with their repuatation for intelligence, brutality and criminal creativity, I handle differently. They're the guys who buy energy weapons from ARGENT and hire former Soviet 'heroes' (whom the former Republic can no longer afford to pay) to take care of the dirty work.
  12. Thanks everyone, especially Shelly...as an old boss of mine once told me, "You are a human Swiss army knife."
  13. Since the interest in my live campaign is waning (Don't ask), I've been contemplating trying to run a PBEM campaign and was wondering if anyone has participated in any good ones. I am curious how things like character interaction take place, die rolls (if they are even used), etc. Thanks in advance for your comments.
  14. After 5th Edition came out, I created a new campaign. The 4th Edition campaign we were playing became 'Earth 4'. After some initial setup with some attacks by agents with insignia similar to an old PC ("Really, I just liked the design..."), the were transported to 'Earth 4 minus', a world were their old characters had taken over.
  15. Since a lot of modern medical terms orginate from greek and latin sources: Team Name: Caduceus (The twin serpent symbol of the medical profession) Brick: Atlas FF Guy: Hadrian (for Hadrian's Wall) Healing Guy: Panacea (Cure All) Additional members are then easy to add.
  16. Dr. Wade Hayes invented a gun that could generate an intense cold ray. Creating a costumed identity for himself (as was the style at the time), he used his Freeze Gun and his wits to fight the Axis as Dr. Winter. His innovations in thermodynamic technology allowed him to amass a small fortune, and offer his offspring a confortable living. Inspired by his heroic grandfather, Wade Hayes III, the current CEO of CryoDyne Technologies, using cutting edge thermodynamic technology, continues the noble legacy of Dr. Winter. Hellion is probably a little too Iron Age to be transformed into a Golden Age character (although the Spectre had similar origins).
  17. Dr. Wanda Hayes, using her vast intellect and skill in thermodynamics, creates a suit of cold generating powered armor and uses it to aid humanity as the heroic Snowangel , Avenging Arctic Aviatrix! Danielle 'Red' O'Bannon, a small time grifter, is cursed by a gypsy to 'live forever'. She discovers that when she 'dies', she is sent to Hell to be tormented for a short while, only to return fully regenerated, to repeat the process. Seeking redemption from her fate, she fights evil as the She-Devil.
  18. Evil Winterhawk: Instead of using his vast intellect and scientific accumen to help makind, he would be cold and clinical, only concerned with science and not above using live subjects in his experiments. I see him more of a 'mad' scientist and less of the powered armor adventurer he is... Evil Hellion: Rather than being horrified by his hellish rebirth, he embraces it, becoming an infernal agent, possibly working for DEMON... ...and they would both have beards, as all evil dopplegangers do
  19. I have several long boxes full of almost the entire run...including Magnus #0 and Harbinger #0. Need anything?
  20. The Foxbattalion! "All hail Foxbat!" And everything they do should be shouted in unison...use the drill scene in Stripes as a reference.
  21. 1st: Fortress Sumter Ironsides Constitution 2nd: Helps when your gf is into Egyptology... Baseka Soul of Warrior Thaparthal Iron Man Ururath Strong Fortress Utshepit Bronze Hand Nekhti Mighty
  22. Happy to help if I can... lanceskijr@yahoo.com
  23. A species of spitting cobra is called a Ringhals or Rinkhals...doesn't exactly roll of the tounge, but if he's a younger hero, I can see him going by Ringo or Rink.
  24. Very Cool Cover, Blue...always been a sucker for Silver/Bronze Age cover art.
  25. I'd agree with you Blue, good pic, but she looks a bit demure for a bad guy. Maybe she's Liberty Belle, and Liberator is the darker version of the outfit?
