  1. I am planning on running a Turakian Age campaign (my first fanstasy campaign in 20 years!), and in designing a Drakine I came across the following: 1) Does Racial Package Damage Resistance add to worn armor, or does the 'No layering armor' rule from Fantasy Hero apply? 2) Does taking a Weapons Element: Shields with a MA package negate the OCV penalty using a shield as a weapon? Thanks in advance for your reply.
  2. Re: Best/Worst Galactic Champions Bulletproof!...because he and I have the same last name! At least we did in the playtest copy.
  3. Re: Need help with names! GunBunny - good name, I'd go with it, especially for a female character. I have a similar character, male, who paints himself up like a clown for added creepiness. He's called Gunplay. Glider-Guy - If you want to stick with the Green Goblin motiff (pumpkin bombs, etc), how about Halloween? Tenticles Guy - One I ripped off from Rifts, Daddy Long Legs.
  4. Re: Superhero Images Thanks for the compliment. Yes I did them, but not freehand. They are from templates I found on the web.
  5. Re: Superhero Images Actually, I took Reality Storm from the recent Silver Age Sentinels/Champions crossover suppliment. My campaign has a yahoo group: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/heroicchicago/ Please feel free to join if you have a yahoo profile.
  6. Re: Character Transformations Wow, no I haven't. Thanks for the tip. The player has met his 'brother' from SF. Like to see if mine is close.
  7. Re: Superhero Images Here's the 'ad' for the crossover event I ran this past weekend. Four hero teams from two dimensions. I couldn't think of a better name for the crossover, so I ripped off 'Reality Storm'.
  8. Re: Character Transformations I've done this a number of times. This cool thing is my players come to me and say "I've got all this XP saved, what do you think?". We sit down and mull it over and actually play out the 'radiation accident'. Some examples from the top of my head: I've had a 'Martial Artist' who relied primarily on high DEX and Regeneration actually get trained in Resplendent Dragon Kung Fu by a Chinese Dragon, who also tattooed him with his ideogram, granting him Wire-Fu abilities. I've had a Mystic EBer discover he was the son of Marduuk, the God of Cities and become the embodiment of the City of Chicago. This was done almost six months ago, so I predate The Mystic World on this concept. When it comes out, you'll understand what I mean. I thought of it first DOJ, and I have the character to prove it!
  9. Re: Villains, Vandals, and Vermin: Who should be in it? I agree on Power Crusher, Wyvern, Dr. Yin Wu and Shamrock, although I'd like to see Shamrock portrayed as something besides an IRA terrorist, which I always thought was a bit cliched. I'd also like to see the return of the Conquorers or another superhuman ascendency group. Moreover, I'd like to see some second tier villains, which I think the current CU is lacking. Old favorites like Oculon and Lazer are now uber-competant. How about a Champs version of Marvel's Justin Hammer and a few device based villains for hire.
  10. Re: Integrating the CU into an existing campaign When all the 5th edition goodies came out, we started anew and my players came up with new characters. After about a year, I started having some familiar characters show up (evil versions of the PCs, villains from the old campaign that were slightly different ala 5th Edition Grond, etc). This all led to the realization that there was a multiverse and the old campaign was Earth 4, as opposed to the current campaign's Earth 5. Right now I am running a 'Reality Storm' (I couldn't think of a better name) that has the heroes of both dimensions teaming up to save the multiverse. Its really been a blast dragging out some old villains and seeing how the players react to their old characters. Do know if that will help, but something like this give an opportunity to incorporate aspects of the old campaign into the new one. I've been playing the ghost of a NPC from the old campaign, and I've had such a good time with him, I'm going to bring him back in some form in the new campaign.
  11. Re: Looking for NEW words of transformation: (SHAZAM, Thunder! Thunder!...) Only if he were transforming into "The Amazing Renaissance Fair Man".
  12. Re: Cool/Funny One liners From Vandal, intergalactic badman and Lobo ripoff: "I'm going to beat you so bad, generations of your progeny will be born remarkably well behaved!"
  13. Re: Name My Evil Alter Ego *DING DING DING* We have a Winnah! I knew when I heard/read it, I'd know it.
  14. Re: Dean Shomshak's The Mystic World (& Arcnae Adversaries)
  15. Re: what character concepts -HAVE- Gm's allowed that you thought they wouldn't? Wow, a published character, and a fantasy one at that... "I'll take Characters Winterhawk Would Never Let Into His Campaign for a $1000, Alex."
  16. Re: Why does Nighthawk always get depicted getting the crap kicked out of him? Because Seeker doesn't exist in the 5th Edition Universe
  17. Re: Need a new team name. Some cool characters...Noir isn't a bad name. Since the are all youngsters, how about something that rings of delinquency. We had a similar team called RiffRaff. If you can get past the Rocky Horror reference, it sounds kind of cool.
  18. Re: Superhero Images Haven't posted one in awhile. Here's one of the current roster of the team we started in college (hard to believe its been 10+ years!). FORCE 2004 L to R (Back): Starhammer, Anvil (the only character I've ever freehanded), The Mighty Meteor, Winterhawk, Heavyweight. (Front) Magenta, Minutiae, Dr. Tempest, The Lensman (with all respects to Edward Elmer Smith).
  19. Nightmask's "Characters that didn't make the cut" thread got me thinking...my gaming group has some interesting slang that has developed over the years, mainly from characters or people from its history. Does anyone else have a similar argot with their own groups? If you do, please share some. Some examples of our gamespeak: "Succeptability to Cheeze Whiz" - A lame Disad, from an actual submitted character. "EC-High Stats" - a lame/Munchkinish power build, from an actual submitted character. "Barry-Dice" (pronounced like paradise) - a long stretch of good die rolls, based off a player making the most consecutive 'doubles' re-rolls I've ever seen or heard of in a DC Heroes game, named Barry natch.
  20. Re: GMs, which character concepts did not make the cut in your game? I feel your pain..."EC-High Stats" has become part of our group jargon for a lame power concept.
  21. Re: Configurable Flash Yes, actually. Its the character concept. The character I'm building is a parody of a character of a player we used to game with (and now use as our 'Example Munchkin'). I wanted to have one slot in a MP that could act as a Flash against all senses. Lesson learned: If your not a munchkin, don't try your hand at it. It makes your brain hurt.
  22. I'm building a character with configurable weaponry. I want to give him a flash that he can change the affected Sense Group to reflect different configurations (strobe light, white sound, radar jammer, etc) and I want to avoid a VPP. I was thinking either Variable SFX or an interpretation of the Multiple Combat Effects/Varying Combat Effects Adders mentioned for CE on pp. 251-52 on the USPD. Is this how you'd do it? If not, any suggestions?
  23. Re: Archetype teams Let's see... You forgot the travelling show of all Bricks from Allies, I forgot what they were called. I have an all powered armor strike team that works for ARGENT. Hard Science: Erg, Angstrom, Watt, Kelvin & Tesla. One of the more unusual teams I have are all Patriots per Champions random character generator. The work for DOSPA. Team SPIRIT (Superhuman/Paranormal Interdiction Rescue & Investigation Team): American Dreamer (Mentalist), Lady Eagle (EB), Flagstone (Brick), Red Rocket (Speedster), Burst (PA), Rattler (MA), Yankee Rose (Weaponmaster), Everyman (Metamorph), Twilight (Mystic).
