  1. Re: The Voynich Manuscript Great, so it might turn out to be an alchemical reading primer. "Well, from what we have deciphered, it appears to be a repetitive tract on transmuting eggs and ham into a green color."
  2. Re: VPP, Extra Capacity? I've been a proponent and supporter of decoupling Pool and Control costs for a long time now, but having your Control higher than your Pool is most certainly a Stop Sign, "don't let a player have this if he's gonna abuse it" sort of thing. It is however, internally consistent with the structure and design considerations currently in play and as such requires very little actual systemic change.
  3. Re: Super Shield Well, the canon write-up of a normal shield from FH is a Multipower has one slot for the DCV levels and one with a HA for the bash attack, just saying.
  4. Re: .50 cal Longarm Ya know, I never thought I'd find a situation where I'd seriously consider that monster as a viable weapon, but fighting against the Zentradi with WW2 tech level weapons? Yeah... I can maybe see it.
  5. Re: Tike's Toybox of Doom! Or for that matter, just a Jack in the Box that's REALLY scary but I'll admit to a fondness for occasionally throwing Brick sized handfulls of dice on a PRE attack, just because it makes me feel all fuzzy inside.
  6. Re: .50 cal Longarm Speaking of .600 Nitro Express rounds... Time to repost the most overmuscled revolver, eveah! the Pfeifer Zeliska
  7. Re: Super Shield and to clarify... shifting MP's is a 0 phase action, so if you're not performing a defensive action that requires a Phase, you can shift the MP back to the first slot. Ergo, if the DCV component is no longer tied to a half phase maneuver, you'd gain the shield bonus even while doing other things, like full moving, or moving and attacking. So in that sense, it'd be acting as a passive defence, even still in the MP.
  8. Re: Super Shield To clarify what my comrades above have been saying, the Bolded bit could be replaced for the same cost with a simple "+4 with DCV", which would make the first slot function just the same except it would allow allow an ongoing passive defence use of the shield. Other than that it's a fine write up. I'd still be inclined to add a slot that's built on Armor to represent the classic 'Cower behind the shield in the face of unblockable/undodgeable/undeflectable damage' move (AoE attacks, or Explosions, for instance)
  9. Re: .50 cal Longarm Check out the KS-23, especially the K model
  10. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? "Science Fiction/Double Feature" -Original Movie Soundtrack, Rocky Horror Picture Show "Michael Rennie was ill the day the earth stood still But he told us where we stand And Flash Gordon was there in silver underwear Claude Raines was the invisible man Then something went wrong for Fay Wray and King Kong They got caught in a celluloid jam Then at a deadly pace it came from outer space And this is how the message ran: Science Fiction - Double Feature Dr. X will build a creature See androids fighting Brad and Janet Ann Francis stars in Forbidden Planet Oh-oh at the late night, double feature, picture show."

  12. Re: Spear of Destiny Yeah, I dig these kinda items too. One of my old FH story arcs was foreshadowed/introduced when our heroes scored a magic sword from a long lost tomb. It was deemed to look pretty cool, needed the runes translated, and wasn't all that terribly awesome a find from most of their points of view. IIRC, it was a Bastard sword with a couple extra OCV levels and an obvious PRE boost. It was given to our norse warrior priestess, mostly because she was very heavy in PRE already, and frankly most of the other players already had pretty decent weapons. over the next two years they gradually began to realize that the damn sword had some really vast effects, just REALLY subtle ones. More like PRE superskills than straight up whiz bang effects. Eventually they got the runes decrypted and learned the sword was called Kingmaker. It's been a while since I thought about it, but IIRC I had around +3 overall levels UBO with a RSR Oratory as one of the swords powers. made a GINORMOUS difference during the Heroic Last Stand against the Massed Forces of Darkness
  13. Re: Limited SPD I had a weird idea earlier while doing my usual free association ADD thing (Reading Tuala Morn and UMA while watching the Pamela Anderson roast), and I think this thread spawned it. I was thinking a resetting triggered SPD Aid (or Succor... haven't fiddled with a build yet), say triggered from a successful Block. Add on a Limit that in addition to the normal fade rate, it drops 10 points off the total for every phase taken above the base SPD. Makes for a sort of interesting "charging up" build. Like spinning up a top
  14. Re: A Thread for Random Musings I was idly perusing recipes for Glogg, and stumbled across this beautiful quote...

  16. Re: A Thread for Random Videos Apparently I've repped you too recently...
  17. Re: Lingering Teleport heh... You could always see if your GM would go for a custom Teleporting Martial Arts with lots of maneuvers with the Full Move element, like Passing Strike and Flying Dodge
  18. Re: Limited SPD Now, can it bring moonbeams home in a jar?
  19. Re: Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow Yeah, seen it a couple of time m'self. It's pretty cool to suddenly spot a zeppelin overhead.
  20. Re: REH Archive Reminder! sweeeeeeeeeeet!
  21. Re: I killed a fellow PC last night... Or embrace the potential and make your new character a tragic hero and embrace your role as the GM's punching bag.
  22. Re: Traveller HERO: end is approaching You guys should totally do your own High Frontier setting. It's not like you haven't already worked out all the hard stuff.
  23. Re: I killed a fellow PC last night... I had a character named Nightwind once upon a time that wasn't Vulnerable to Mind Control, but rather Susceptible. Essentially if his real personality was removed from the driver's seat, then the demon sharing his body would start to take over. Cumulative Transform. Heals back like body. The good news? The mind control probably isn't in effect anymore. The Bad news? The demon probably enjoys the idea and will do it anyway, before pursuing whatever agenda it has. That was a pretty dark game, roughly similar to Hellblazer and Grendel.
