  1. Re: Recommendations and Reviews of Superhero products both old and new The one I have is just called "Magic". It's a good book.
  2. Re: What elements should a great superhero setting contain? Whatever I need to capture and enhance the mood I'm trying to create.
  3. Re: Conspiracy Theory: Who was really behind the destruction of Detroit? Not really. Just because something is in the official books doesn't mean you can't come up with your own take. Let the speculation continue.
  4. Re: New Kickstarter for Sentinels of the Multiverse expansion The Kickstarter ended yesterday with 926% funding. Very impressive.

  7. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread Got a good deal on the flight home to visit family and friends over the holidays. I thought I was out of luck because I waited too long, but no. Decided to stop by a local Best Buy to view the post-Black Friday carnage. Bought the 5th season of Doctor Who and the old Flash live-action series on DVD as the sale prices for both were substantial.

  9. Re: The cranky thread Dear tourists, Welcome to our fair city. There's a lot to see and do here, and I hope you enjoy yourselves. It can be a little confusing getting around, though. It's understandable that sometimes when you come across an escalator, elevator, or stairwell that you might not be sure if that's the way you need to go. The place to make that decision, however, is *not* directly in front of said means of access. Please, if you aren't sure, kindly step aside and let those of us who know where they're going get by. Because some of us are getting to the point where we're just going to go through you, and none of us really want this. Thank you, A Local
  10. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Men In Suits, a documentary about suit actors (think the guy in the Godzilla outfit) that I helped Kickstart. Very informative overall, and I have to admit to enjoying seeing my name in the end credits.
  11. Re: The cranky thread Mine will be a couple of turkey subs from Subway. Business as usual. Also, my condolences as well, Puma.
  12. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread Breakthrough on some projects at work. The rest of the year may not be a strain after all.
  13. Re: The cranky thread No matter how much I try to clean up my place, it doesn't seem to make a difference.
  14. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares Babar Streisand Or, if you like, Babar Mecha-Streisand
  15. Re: The Good and Bad about Marvel and DC I know several people who think he's the only sensible character in the book. Once the work gets out there, you can't really control how its perceived. I still do. Not the be-all and end-all of comics for me, but it still holds up as a read.
  16. Re: Cool characters from goofy concepts IMO, it would be the former. As much as I like them, the "monster of the week" or "wacky transformation" years of the '50s and '60s are pretty goofy.
  17. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares Romney, Spaceknight Paul Ryan's Express The hit musical Barack of Ages Biden of Shadows (They scan.)
  18. Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread That's wonderful. My congrats to all involved.
  19. Re: Cool characters from goofy concepts I see the point, but I'd wager that Bats was considered cool from the outset, given his pulp roots and his overall popularity and influence. He's certainly gone through goofy periods, though.
  20. Re: Cool characters from goofy concepts Not lately. Good call, though I can't imagine them ever being called "cool".
  21. Re: In Progress From Blackwyrm Games: Mythic America That's very much reflected in the staging, where the incomplete sets lend a stark and creepy vibe that works really well. But at least some of the crew are versed in what actually happened, even though it's true that they couldn't fill in details of the setting since they weren't there. But the crew seem to know enough about it that the Melkotians could have reproduced the order of events. Kirk knows enough about it to provide each of the crew with the name of their Clanton-gang analogue. Spock knows enough about it to understand that what happens to Chekov is a game-changer. But they deliberately threw out another major detail - probably to heighten dramatic tension - and that's annoying to me when dealing with historical stuff. Even illusionary historical stuff. Mind you, it's far from the worst offender. I once saw a made for TV movie that reduced the gunfight to about a five second shootout and actually added to the body count.
