Re: Why I prefer HERO System over Pathfinder/OGL/D&D for fantasy It's an approach they kept for a lot of later modules too. I was just thumbing through 2006's "Red Hand of Doom" and the Overview section contains on how to place the location in the Forgotten Realms, Eberron, and Greyhawk settings.

Re: Time Frame for Appearance of Superhumans I like them all, really. I really enjoy a well-put together timeline. I also like the idea of the PCs being among the first superheroes to debut. As a GM, it depends on the kind of world I think suits the players and my interests best at the time. Just to mention another setting, the Omlevex setting had supers appearing at least before the American Revolution, and operating openly during the American Civil War. The idea was that such conflicts pretty well diminished the supers populations, keeping the numbers down over the years.

Re: Champions 1st edition Their two-issue takeoff on Jim Steranko's History of Comics is a personal favorite. I love the detail that went into it.

Re: World War Two Campaign I've got the complete set of Seven Soldiers Archives and I enjoy them very much. I'd put several of those stories on par with the GA JSA stuff. I have a hunch the move towards integrated team stories (the same thing happened with the JSA later) was down to economics than anything else. Namely, the cost of paper. Don't have any quotes at hand though.

Re: World War Two Campaign The Kid and Stripesy should fall under some kind of generic "Two-Fisted American" template. They'd have a few "Teamwork" knacks. So would Crimson Avenger and Wing. Vigilante might have a few rope tricks;he also packs a gun. Shining Knight would be tougher, because of the armor, sword, and horse. In many ways, they are all the same type of character.

Re: Speak with the dead Fair point. The killer could just be a servant of someone bigger, though, and finding out who ordered the hit could require some detective work.
