  1. I haven't read the "Flare" series, but I have read the Champions books and I agree with the above critcisms. Avoid.
  2. A Fantasy Hero GM of mine once introduced something from an old story/Twilight Zone episode. Each of the PCs encountered a mysterious stranger carrying a box with a red button on top. Press the button, and you gain fantastic wealth, but someone you don't know dies. One player went for it; a down-on-her-luck royal antsy to get back her wealth/status/etc. To the surprise of some, she did indeed come upon a great deal of money. To the surprise of no one, the stranger moved on, after declaring his intent to strike other bargains "with someone you don't know". In game terms, that meant the GM made a roll (probably Luck, but I don't know) every game month until the player's number came up. We told the player later that every time we used the quality gear she (indirectly) bought for us, we were paying tribute to the character. I don't think she bought it.
  3. Pity. They'd probably be more popular if they were. Nobody I know has ever used the group. All that I know about them I've learned from this thread.
  4. I don't have guilty pleasures. I'll try to come up with something potentially embarassing, though.
  5. Looking for new computers was a lot of fun last time; now it's just a drag. Looking for a new car has never been enjoyable, and nothing has changed.
  6. A question about its availability came up in the 5E PDFs thread over in the Online Store Forum. Perhaps it was withdrawn for a time, but is available again now.
  7. As a player, I'm fine with both. As a GM, I preferred fictional worlds that I created myself, which was both easier and harder in some ways. Harder because I had to come up with most of the detail myself; easier because of what NuSoard mentions above.
  8. I don't suggest biting into it, chewing it slowly or actually swallowing it either.
  9. Bill Nelson - Rosewood Vol. 2 The Black Keys - El Camino Baroness - Yellow & Greem
  10. Mission:Impossible season 1. Peter Graves hasn't joined the cast yet, and despite the fact that he isn't listed as a regular, Martin Landau is emerging as the star. Pretty good stuff overall.
  11. I thought my car was leaking brake fluid, so I took it in to get checked. Turns out it's only leaking oil. I say "only" because the mechanic didn't even offer to fix it, which I take to be the universal symbol for "just buy another car, already". On the plus side, I discovered my current car battery had been working fine for a good nine years.
  12. Roy Scheider must save his high-tech submarine from harsh Congressional cutbacks in: seaQuester DSV
  13. Still slow for me too. Last time I was on, it was taking more than 10 minutes for a post to land. Using a computer at the library right now just to see, and it is much better here, so probably my system more than anything.
  14. "Childlike Faith in Childhood's End" by Van der Graaf Generator. "Carbona Not Glue" by The Ramones. "Cowboy Song" by Thin Lizzy.
  15. I don't think so. If it's not a new option with the "Edit" function, then definitely not.
  16. A justification for higher INT might be a link to the magic itself, whether some kind of INT roll is needed to cast or to just "know" the powers. Might also be a key towards learning new spells as well. A high EGO can be justified by the need to resist the corrupting forces of Things Humans Were Not Meant To Know.

  19. Hmmm. In the Champions Universe I could see such a group being secretly led by agents of the Death Dragon, to cut down on potential opponents.
  20. Is that book 5ed? Yes.
  21. Like QM, I'm never happy to see Nightwing get jobbed, and twice in two months doesn't help.
  22. Re: The Good and Bad about Marvel and DC I was avoiding the comics boards because I didn't want to know. Guess I should have stayed off this board too.
  23. Re: Genocide, 6th edition. Chess themes work for me as long as the leader I'm using sees him or herself as a "master manipulator" type. It's the public use of the name "Genocide" that I always thought was stupid. IHA was a more sensible option.
  24. Re: Genocide As a relative newcomer, thank you for the interesting use of thead necromancy.
