  1. Re: Answers & Questions Q: We're down to 15 seconds, which wire do I cut? A: Because Carrot Top turned the position down.
  2. Re: Answers & Questions Q: Spotlight's powers are blinding everyone, what should we do? A: Fine, just make him stand down wind.
  3. Re: Teen Villain for review: Bungee He probably can't, but such situations are what make the Focus limitation worth the point savings. I guess most of the time when he squeezes under a door he then reaches back through for his glasses when he gets to the otherside, like some Looney Toons character. It's supposed to be the withdrawal effects of his addiction. In FRED, the alcoholism dependance they presented as an example used "Suffers Incompetence" and they suggested you could do much the same with other addictions. I was originally going to make it "Suffers Weakness", but wasn't sure if that fit the desired effect of the disad. (do cannabis addicts get physically weaker in the throws of withdraw? Haven't heard of anything like that, though I'll admit my knowledge on such subjects is somewhat limited.) Extra EGO and PRE, Only while stoned (-1/4 or -1/2 maybe?). Consider it done. And the mental defense is a good idea as well, I'll just have to lose the Vulnerability I already gave him and up his bonus some. Thanks. P.S. the mutagenic pot idea sounds like a winner, I'll use that when I write the Background portion of his flavor text.
  4. Re: Teen Villain for review: Bungee E-mail me and I'll send you the rtf. The board, unfortunately, won't accept it as an attachment.
  5. Re: Answers & Questions Q: So, how many of you are Britons? A: Forget it man, the damned thing will just self-destruct before we get any real use out of it.
  6. The atached text file contains the write up for Bungee sans flavor text, which I'm still working on. Suggestions for his background would be greatly appreciated.
  7. Re: Suggestions? Telepathic PCs just captured VIPER agent Forgive me if this has already been said, but- assuming this is just a standard bottom-rung VIPER thug- what's the point? Organizations like VIPER give out information on a need to know basis, and for the most part the only thing the rank and file foot soldiers need to know is which end of their blaster rifle to point at the enemy and how to contact Dewy, Chedum, and Howe after they're arrested.
  8. Re: Answers & Questions Q: What could possibly be more mind numbing than the second "Simple Life?" A: "You're ambushes would be more successful if you bathed more often."
  9. Re: Stretching Power: Need Suggestions Thanks to everyone who replied. I now have a construct I think fits the effect: This'll Bowl You Over: Does Double Knockback (+3/4) on 20 STR (15 Active Points); Only While Performing A Move Through (-1) cost: 7 points plus +20 PD; Only To Protect Against Damage From Move Throughs The Character Performs (-1), Linked (to Naked Advantage; -1/4) cost: 9 points plus +2 DCV; Linked (To Naked Advantage; -1/2) cost: 7 points. Total cost: 23 points Note: the DCV bonus represents the fact that the character rolls up into such a compact ball it's harder to hit him. I'll post the complete character in another thread later if anyone is interested.
  10. The Effect: Character rolls himself into a ball and knocks people over like bowling pins. What power(s) and modifiers should I use for this?
  11. Re: Answers & Questions Q: What did Captian Picard say after his android second officer fell down a shaft on Sigma Prime? A: That's what you get for tailgating behind the Batmobile.
  12. Re: Behind Bars Since D-Man has already more than adequately covered the legal issues, I'll focus on other aspects of the heroes' private jail: 1) Escapes: There's no such thing as a completely escapeproof prison. Period. A prisoner who's determined to escape literally has all the time in the world to find a weakness in your containment and devise a plan to exploit it. Plus, from any villain's perpective, it's one thing to get tried and sent to Stronghold when PRIMUS busts you, That's more or less a matter of course; it's something else entirely to be incarcerated without a trial by viglantes. In such senerios, there's a good chance escapees may immediately come after their jailer(s) for revenge. 2) Logistics: Your containment faulty will require regular maintainance and repairs, plus it's going to be expensive to build in the first place. And since it would be inhumane to just leave your prisoners to rot (if you do that, you probably should have just killed them quick and clean in the first place), You have to provide them with food, water, and sanitation at a bare minimum. All of this is going to cost money and require you to devote time and personnel you would have otherwise had for fighting crime.
  13. Re: Answers & Questions Q: What's the Flash doing running around the equator at superspeed? A: "Oh crap..." KABOOM!!!!!!!
  14. Re: Transform...Anything to Anything For creating useful stuff like weapons, I would require either or both of the following: an appropriate skill roll a modifier to the required effect on the Transform dice based on the Active Cost the item created would logically have. Plus anything created in such manner would not be permient; for example, a gun made with the Transform would disintegrate the instant it used up it's full load of ammunition.
  15. Re: Answers & Questions Q: Where can I find a marahon of really bad horror movies? A: Hey! Careful where you point that thing, you idiot!
  16. Re: Vigilante Cops and IA I'm with RDU on the cop-by-day-masked-vigilante-by-night senerio being most plausable. The only thing I'd add is the need for the V-cop to aquire some "cold iron" so his vigilante activaties don't get traced back to his service sidearm; that would be most inconvenient, to say the least.
  17. Re: Gadgets and Gear: Review Just got mine a week ago and have been looking it over. For $26.99, it's not too shabby, though not quite on par with the USPD. Still, the new rules for Charges and Crew-Serviced Weaponry made it worth picking up.
  18. Re: Base Building Bananza When ever I build a Base, I like to install sneaky little devices like these: Pop-Up Taser Turrets: EB 5d6, NND (defense is full body rED or Power Defense; +1), (50 Active Points); IIF Immobile (-1 1/4), Limited Range (10"; -1/4), 15 Charges (-0). Cost: 20 points plus +3 OCV (15 Active Points); IIF Immobile (-1 1/4), Does Not Work Against Characters With Danger Sense (-1/4). Cost: 6 points. Total Cost: 26 points The perfect surprise for uninvited guests who think you only have light security/defenses.
  19. Re: Campaigning for Supervillain PCs... Haven't tried this yet, but the following would be my rules for running such a campaign: #1: No murderous psychopaths as PCs. This is a roleplaying game not GTA: Vice City. #2: Keep the first few capers relatively simple and easy to run. Start with the classic bank hiest and move on to bigger challenges from there. Nobody is going to be ready for the world domination game right out of the box. #3: Remember that crime does pay (sort of). Find that happy medium between making the heros and the authorities incompetent push-overs and turning this into a neverending hose-the-PCs-fest. If the PCs should logically be able to pull most of the capers off successfully, let them.
  20. Re: Silliest Disadvantage Ever I Once had a player submit a female PC with Distinctive Features: Always Smells Like Peppermint. That in and of itself wasn't so bad, just that she tried to take way more points for it than I would ever reasonably allow for stuff like that. IIRC, she wrote it up as Not Concealable, Extreme Reaction: Causes People To Want To Eat/Lick Her. I kid you not. As a compromise, I made her change it to Concealable with Difficultly, Noticed And Recognized.
  21. Re: Character Background Help Maybe all those years of doing birthday party entertainment for little spoiled brats finally made him snap?
  22. Re: Hero Character Portfolio -- What Do *You* Want To See? A nice idea, but I already do all my character sheets in Quark XPress.
  23. Another shooting star, a red one. This time you and your teammates arrive at the the landing site just in time to see the new arrival emerge from the impact crator. The red alien appears to be female, and a very beautiful one at that (think COM 30). She looks all of you over and then starts aggressively flirting with one of the party, who immediately acts like they're under the influence of either some kind of hypnotism or superhuman pheromones. What do you do?
