I can't recall a story in which Conan ever raped a woman. I do recall a few in which he had the opportunity, but didn't; and more in which he went out of his way to protect a woman.

Conan is a classic anti-hero. He's definitely out for himself. He'll steal from those with wealth, betray those who are treacherous, and kill in a fight without hesitation or remorse. But he always kept his word, and any agreement he made. He never hurt weak or helpless people. The king he took his throne from was a generally-hated fool who grew jealous of Conan's popularity with his troops, and tried to have him imprisoned. As a king Conan was a fair and even-handed ruler who took his responsibility to his subjects seriously.

As robber-barons go, Conan was better than most.

    Update --

As noted, ARL, the Blood, the Circle, the Wanderers, and the Cult of the Beast are complete. I have made a few edits, but I feel they are done. The Families has grown a bit. It is a 4k words and most of that is a list of notable Families members, each with a short description. I have found a number of character sheets to add to the Families section. A few actual Families members and then a scattering of agents of the Reapers. The file I am working from lists a lot of people, but there is nothing there to work with. After the Families it will be Yooso. For those who own Ninja Hero 4e it is pretty much the same guys, just updated to 6e. In fact, if Dirt (Tsuchi in NH4e) is anything to go by, its the same character sheets, just updated to 6e. We'll see. The Hell Raisers had a lot of members. Like... a dozen or more. And multiple leaders (including Dark Seraph). I decided to present the team as it first appeared (which is also how the team appears in the GURPS Supers adventure School of Hard Knocks). I hope to be done around the end of March.

It can but you need a larger sandbox. My current game is multiple realties invaded earth to steal its energy, earth itself used it to fight back and created supers. Different countries/continents have different realties. A “governing” body coordinates efforts and the PCs can go anywhere.

however my players are in reactive mode rather then proactive mode. So I’m about to force the issue

Like I said too that this is also based on two things.

    1) How many books do you have? In this case if you only stick to the BBB then Viper creating villains (and Heroes) isn’t so bad. If I remember from the Enemies books, Death Commando was created by KRONOS and Orb by UNTIL everyone else by VIPER. So if you bought Classic Enemies then you’re back to mainly VIPER creating villains.

    2) Because a villain is in a book, does that mean that its in the campaign? I equate this to D&D. Forgotten Realms gladly includes any monster mentioned in the monster manuals however you don’t have to for your particular game. And you can believe that back in the day, I thought that it did and I couldn’t change anything because it was official! I’ve bought down that psyche disadvantage since then. 😁

Here’s a thought if one plays up the semi-independent nature of the nests then having VIPER creating a bunch of villains I don’t think is so bad.  Nest A created Crusader because they wanted an agent in the ranks of the FBI while Nest B is more in science and created Powerhouse while Nest C ran across the info to blackmail Bluejay.

5th is very player friendly and easy to get into. But as a DM for 5th it’s the opposite. And Wotc doesn’t make it easy for DMs. And the CR system doesn’t always work.

but hero system math, once you the parameters it holds up every time once you learn it. So when I set say 40 active points and DCV at 8 I know exactly what the average is( outside killing attack roulette) and can balance encounters so much easier and know what my players handle

I was introduced to hero back in the 1990s in college But stopped playing around 2000 and picked D&D back up mid2000s after a couple years wargaming.

But picked hero back up recently and running a game. I still like D&D including different editions and types like pathfinder or various OSR types(nd other RPGs) . but yeah I think hero is getting to be my go to system. The fact I can do anything with it and the math is easier balancing then say the CR system helps slot in making it my preferred go to system

Sadly, the answer has to be no. I only came to realize it a few months ago while answering "What are the Top 10 Tabletop Roleplaying Games of All Time (that you have personally played)?" on RPG.net. I instinctively started asking myself who would rank first, HERO or GURPS but when I went through the though process, the real question was if it would even finish second (it did) or would it slip to third.

No doubt I still love HERO but nowadays, if I want to play fantasy, modern action, supernatural horror, post-apocalypse, science-fiction, etc, I will probably consider one, two or half a dozen games before HERO. In the past many years, it was my go-to only when it comes to super but If I was to start a game now, I am not even sure I would choose it.

It also pains me to say that the last book published by HERO that I enjoyed and found "professionally" done was Golden Age Champions, must have been 5 years ago now.

If DOJ doesn't pick up their game, or sell the property to someone who will do the system justice, I am afraid the next time I answer a similar question in a few years, it may slip to third or maybe not even make the top 3.

Session one is in the books. I decided I was tired of dnd and got my brother and our friends interested in a champions game.( they too were tiring of dnd and everyone had played champions 20 years ago ).

Had session zero last month, let them rework the kinks out of their characters in that test session.

A decade ago I had an idea- there was this old game called Torg which last couple years got rereleased as Torg Eternity and reading both made me realize that it would make an awesome Champions game- why wouldn’t earth tap into its own possibility energy and create superheroes to fight back against reality raiders?
Cast ( forgot to write down their real names, they haven’t come up with super names )

undead brick, tough as nails and can take a hit.
Alien battle suit wearer with blaster and stealth field
Teleporting darkness welder, blasts of darkness and strength drains
Regenerating knife and gun assassin. Not much defense, but rapidly heals.

There are two other characters joining next session. A mentality and a martial artist.

Our hero’s start as regular people, on a ferry off the coast of Manhattan in NYC. Milling around, enjoying drinks and the sightseeing. It’s opening day so Mets vs Nats playing on the tv over the bar.

When suddenly the sky splits open and a terrible storm splits the sky, and a bridge made of wood and vines 1/4 mile streaks down from the hole in the sky and slams into the stadium, the feed cutting off and the aftershock rocking the boat even that far away….. and then the tv shuts off and the engine on the boat dies. Cell phones and other electronics don’t work.

The party and other civilians mill around and think about using the life boats to get to shore. But notice that the ferry is starting to rust and life boats are beginning to rot. At this point the party notices flyers peeling off the bridge and flying across the city. Including right towards the ferry!

As they get closer times slows to a stop, each hero finds themselves surrounded by their own private storm- like a hurricane and a tornado and thunderstorm all rolled into one. Seeing all the things that could be for a brief moment. When the storms subside, our hero’s are transformed and reborn.
Just in time to see 5 flyers, looking like prehistoric terradactyls with lizard men like riders with spears flying in looking for blood.

Fight ensues, with the party using their new found powers to defend themselves and civilians from the invaders spears and creatures sonic screams. Wasn’t without cost, however, 2 civilians killed and one body take away by the lone flyer for unknown reason.

After calming the civilians and some creative ideas with powers they get the ferry to the shore. After some debate and looking around, noticing the the grass is growing wildly and vines growing up and down buildings, they decided to keep the people on the ferry while they look around. One of party notices one of the buildings shimmer and change into a crystalline struck. At first the party ignores it, until the alien battle suit wielder gets a message, first in language unknown, until it rotates into one it’s knows- the structure is sending out a warning that it’s the last outpost of a fallen reality, and brings a warning to anyone who listens. Intrigued the party now decides to explore the crystal structure. A couple skill rolls pulls up some more information about the invaders and the bridge. And pulls up a crystal camera that lets them look around seeing a) lizard creatures in Central Park burying humans in graves with something placed on their chests. B.) hospital to the NE in the city looks like there is a fight and activity and c) looking east Philly still looks like it still has lights and free of invaders and d) Holland tunnel is still clear, where as other bridges and tunnels are either occupied or destroyed.

After leaving the crystal structure, it fades away and reverts back to a vine covered building.

At this point the party is deciding what to do next knowing they have information no one else has.

It's been a common complaint among Champions players for years that the official villain team, Eurostar, is moribund, because its goal of uniting Europe has in some ways already been accomplished (albeit with some rocky patches). It occurred to me a while ago that the team's leader, Fiacho, being convinced of the inherent superiority of European culture, and looking at the chaotic state of the world, might feel nostalgic for the colonial era, when European empires dominated the globe, bringing "order" and '"civilization."  So I modified Eurostar's goal of uniting Europe, not just economically and politically, but forging it into a military force that can reassert worldwide colonialism, but this time under a single rule rather than competing empires.

It depends on what kind of a "leader" someone is.

Personally I love leaders that actually make their teams mechanically better.  Such as:

    - Combat Skill Levels (or even overall levels!) that were useable on others, requires a teamwork or leadership roll to reflect how everyone fights better when they follow the leader's plan
    - Aid to Dex/OCV/DCV (one at a time or all at once), Selective Area of Effect, reflecting how the skilled leader is coordinating the fight to get the drop on the bad guys

    Agreed. Edition 6+needs...
    1) To be supported with adventures, setting stuff, enemies books/monster books.
    2) To be presented in a fun and intresting way.
    3) To be easy to find the rules needed and the rules be easy to understand.
    4) Needs both digital and physical editions. I kinda find it hard to read a digital copy, but then again I'm 51 years old, going on 52.
