  1. Re: Speedster Name Needed Well, someone already suggested it, but I'd go with Ballistic. That is the name of my current speedster/brick, and I like it very much...
  2. Re: I smell something fishy Well, I guess that makes my point slightly less valid. Its only built around a detect in this addition, in others, it was a talent. My point was there is already something in place for what he is looking to do, he doesn't need to design another way to do danger sense, IMHO.
  3. Re: Terminal Velocity There are always more balancing factors, of course. But am I truly the only person out there that has a problem with a character having a 30d attack of anykind? Maybe its appropriate for their world and campaign, but from the other post by the same person suggests, this character also wants a power that automatically reflects each and every melee attack back at the person throwing it. Munchkin, anyone???
  4. Re: On balance...when no one else follows it. Go ahead and join the dark side. Its already effecting your enjoyment to a point. Just go ahead, take the extra points, as long as what you do is still in character concept...
  5. Re: Terminal Velocity That is exactly what I was talking about, thank you, Blue. Unless we are talking a Superman-level campaign, this kind of damage shouldn't be allowed in an attack....
  6. Re: I smell something fishy Personally, I think a detect is too cheesy in this instance. The power you are looking for is Danger Sense, you are just defining its special effects. Is someone who spots light reflecting off a scope just really perceptive, or does he have danger sense? Just define the danger sense as incredible powers of perception/deduction. Also, yes, concealment and a high perception would also compliment this power nicely. Don't forget about the special effects aspect of things. No one should just have "danger sense", everyone should have to explain what their danger sense is...
  7. Re: Terminal Velocity And here we get into the arguement of not how a power is made, but SHOULD it be made...
  8. Re: OIF, Bulky: Giant Robot I don't know, I think you get to choose what your character looks like, set at character creation, pay for any benefits. It seems Kitty has paid for Shrinking. I don't think having your character look like a cat is actually worth points. There would be some situations where it would be odder to see a cat then a person. And you've got the whole 4 legged thing, kind of balances out, I'd say.
  9. Re: OIF, Bulky: Giant Robot If it were my campaign, and I had a PC who looked like a cat, and he wanted a focus/vehicle/whatever that made him bigger and he looked vaguely humanoid, I'd make him buy something to represent that change. Its too great a change. Whamme himself has said that its not that big, I guessing around human size. This might allow him, in certain situation to pass as human. Hence, shapeshift.
  10. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER What kind of drunken babble is this???
  11. Re: OIF, Bulky: Giant Robot Calling something a bulky focus that is actually power armor doesn't really work for me, though I really don't have a better suggestion. I'm just having a hard time with it. Are you just trying to simulate the dcv change when the character gets bigger? Just buy growth, through a focus. Or, better yet, it sounds more like a vehicle to me. If its just a focus, wouldn't you have to also buy shapeshift? If the character looks like a cat normally, and you buy a robot with a humanoid form, doesn't that take away from the DF (which I assume you bought?)
  12. Hey, um, I kinda feel like an idiot for asking this question, but it really isn't clear in the 5er book, so I will. What does detecting the fringe on someones invisibility do for you? Does it completely negate the invisibility?
  13. Re: Takes Time Hoody hoo! I'm a standard normal now, no longer incompetent!!! Go me! Sometimes I get over excited...
  14. Re: Teleporting focus to owner Thats perfect. I still haven't read every nook and cranny of my 5er. Most of it, actually...
  15. Re: Teleporting focus to owner I think I would build it OIHID, with an additional 1/2 limitation "Power focus is treated like OAF in combat". or You could say the the OAF is not a universal focus, making it mostly useless to others, and the once per day time focus and energy thing is really him just creating a new focus. A little cheesy, I grant you. or You could give the villians base a transporter, teleport UAA, bulky, fragile, megascale, indirect, and give the teleporter and focus a mind link, so they could always find each other...
  16. Re: Combat!! Interesting thought, I guess, but how would you handle killing attacks and a stun multiple?
  17. Re: Modelling killing attacks That was a short thread...
  18. Re: Game-Time Pop-Quiz for GM's Hmmm, I thought velecity damage classes weren't halved, so my answers are: Maritial 3d6 +1 Haymaker 3.5d6 Move-by 3d6+1 (No martial manuver listed) Move through 4.5d6 (ouch!) With the extra credit being none, half, full.
  19. Re: Initiative... In a campaign I'm playing in, we've completely eliminated speed. There are 3 phases every turn, where everyone gets to act, then a post-12. In addition, initiative is decided at the beginning of the fight, rollling 1d6/5 pts. of dex. If you want to set up a combat sheet ahead of time, ask all the players to pre-roll some initiatives the session before...
  20. Re: Area of Effect Stretching? I asked steve a question on the answers board, and he said that with doesn't pass through intervening space advantage that the "limb" is at no point subject to attack. Is this power really stretching at this point?
