  1. Re: Continuous Attack Faster than Character's Speed? I, too, though uncontrolled meant the damage happened every segment. Maybe it used to in fourth? Anyway, since that doesn't appear to be an option, I think the speed only for a certain attack is the best way to go. I don't know how much I'd give as a limitation for that, though. It could be really powerful if that is the characters main attack...
  2. Re: What do you think... Wow. Great thread. Given the theme is exploring the consequences of using their powers, I would still do the time travel fix, but only after a couple of nasty sessions where the world basically turns on their characters. Have heroes come after them like THEY are the villians. Have contacts and even some friends want nothing to do with them anymore. And definitely, definitely, have the time travel fix cost them something. Something serious. Maybe the loss of some of their loved ones. Maybe everybody, EVERYBODY, forgets who they are. No contacts, no friends, no identity, nothing (except, as someone stated, that one supervillian who remembers, and is gonna make them pay/make sure it never happens again, love it!!!), and of course, they remember, so maybe turn some of those hunteds/watched/dnpc's into pysch lims. Don't know, but this sounds like a great campaign. Makes me wanna run some Champions!
  3. Re: What Fantasy/Sci-Fi book have you just finished? Please rate it... I'm rereading the Garrett, P.I. books by Glenn Cook, which are hard-boiled detective stories in a fantasy world. Very fun. If you can find the books used somewhere, I highly recommend them. The first book is called Sweet Silver Blues...
  4. Re: Help with a concept I would definitely build it as armor, and just have the sfx of a force field. If you want to explore the option where his "force field" goes down slowly over time if he gets tired, I would put the armor on in layers, with each layer costing more and more end to use. Finally, I would only have the armor activate if the body of the attack required it. He could be hurt, knocked down, but I don't know if he EVER bled... Also, didn't his forcefield provide him with some power defense??? I seem to remember he and Spectre tangling, and Golden Boy living, though its been a long time, and my memory might be faulty... (I suppose it might also be mental defense, depending on how Spectre's gaze was built. I think we did it as an avld that did body vs. power defense...)
  5. Re: Calling Marvel fanatics My I'm just an obsessed fan boy, but I'm reading x-men again after not having read them for years thanks to whedon, and I've enjoyed it, for the most part....
  6. Re: Best way to Build Cap's Shield? Cap isn't just human. He's a human on supersoldier serum. He's an altered human, so that puts all his stats into the hands of whoever is making him...
  7. Re: Best way to Build Cap's Shield? I'll have to check in my retired character file back home to look for specifics about how the shield was built, but here is what I remember now. The shield was independent. But just the shield, some basic defensive components, and a little extra HA. A couple of levels with block, some inherent defenses for getting the shield in the way, thats it. Everything else had to be learned. Sure, anyone can throw the shield, but can they throw it effectively? Same with missile deflection. I paid absolutely NO points for the shield, but I paid plenty for what I could do with it. If I lost the shield, I lost only the independent effects of the shield, and the ability to use the other points until I found a suitable replacement.
  8. Re: What's the most ridiculous PC you've ever been subjected to? Well, I was playing in a Vampire game where one of players gave this to the GM as his background. "I live on a mountain in Australlia. I never leave." So the GM basically ignored him, until the player whined enough that the gm had him staked, and shipped to NYC where the campaign was happening.
  9. Re: 5er question on AVLD So its cheaper than an NND vs. FF, but more effective? SIGN ME UP!!!!
  10. Re: Willing Targets of Mental Powers Personally, I don't care if the book doesn't allow it. If it makes sense to me, and is appropriate to the story, I'm gonna do it. There are all kinds of examples of voluntarily lowering stats in the game. You can lower your speed so you don't drown, you don't have to punch someone at full strength, etc. And yes, if someone had some kind of body control abilities, or has been role-played as having great bodily control, (Beatrix Kiddo, for example, or a martial arts ancient master) than I would allow them to turn off their body, slowly, and kill themselves. I might require some kind of training, or an ego roll, or something, so this sort of thing to work, but I'd generally let it happen...

    Sin City

Re: Sin City Rocked!!! Gotta see it again!!!!
  12. Re: Challenge Build: Unleashed I'd buy it as kind of a reverse OIHID. Just buy the things he can't do with the collar on, not when wearing collar -1/4. I'd also buy some psych. lims, some with collar on, some with off. No muss, no fuss. Keep it simple. I hate using multiform.
  13. Re: What are you working on? I'm working on a Matrix campaign, but not using Hero. :-( I'm using d20 besm. Please don't lynch me...
  14. Re: acid wash is the new flamewar Bad llama/troll! No biscuit!!!
  15. Re: A Modern League of Extroardinary Gentlemen Huh. Kind of a more modern Nero Wolfe, or whatever the name of the guy who was always getting beaten up for him. Archie? Archie Goodwin? Something like that. Neat...
  16. Re: Is Punisher the problem? Well, that depends on what genre we are talking. In most comics, death is very/very rare, and rarely lasting... But point taken, sorry if I made an assumption about you. And yes, being gamers, no matter which way you decide, they are likely to whine a little. I'm the worst whiner, though I tend to hide my whining in anger...
  17. Re: Is Punisher the problem? Yes, these are the decisions that I don't envy GM's for. But I think a great many of these decisions can more easily made if we include the "fun factor" into our calculations. Is it gonna be cool is the hero gets wasted from behind cause you rolled a lucky hit? Not hardly. Nobody is happy with this outcome. Not you as the GM, not the player(s), no one. So we set the dice aside, and go for the more "fun" outcome. Sometimes a PC's death makes a good story. So, if the dice roll that way, well, let the dice fall where they may. Sometimes more than one persons fun has to be considered. But fun is the bottom line. Gaming is supposed to be fun, so make sure its fun, no matter what rules you follow...
  18. Re: Is Punisher the problem? This is a great thought. I just want to point out that it doesn't have to be either/or. A GM could use both interpretations. The general "effect" of a power/item can be measured in active points, while the "control" can be measured by comparing the active points to the real points of a power/item. If you pay no points for something, you have no control over how useful it is. As for the person who wants to build a gun NCC (only when my GM wants me to have it), sure go ahead. But don't expect the gun to work whenever you want it to, NCC means just that, its a gun without a trigger. It will fire whenever the GM, or "someone" wants it to. Or maybe it has a trigger, and the "person" makes a decision each and everytime you fire it, meaning that sometimes, when you really want it, its may not work for you. Let the buyer beware.
  19. Re: Please Suggest Names for a Hulk Tribute Character I think the best so far have been Amok, Sunder, and Tantrum. Rep to all!
  20. Re: Can I get a list please? Come on! What fun are lists, or warning signs? Don'tcha just wanna stumble into the pain???
  21. Re: What was you most powerful Attack vs. Supervillian??? See, all our campaigns have a max 30d6 cap on just about everything. Its happened a couple of times. The one I particularly remember is my (what we called) Vertigo campaign character, Damnation, putting her forcefield around a chunk of wall, and using her strength, and flight to do a fully pushed move through on the big demi-god we were fighting. Really took the fight out of him, but didn't put him down. A couple of hits from my comrades, Trinity and Ascension, did the trick...
