  1. Re: Escaped Amorphoid This sounds like the origin story for one of my characters, not a WWYCD... Held by scientists (VIPER) who were studying him, and he watched and learned patterns and escaped... That would be Meeb: And in his Secret ID (Which didn't last long)... Glurb Burble.
  2. My computer that is. My machine hasn't got the power to run the thing at minimum specs. So I guess I just hope the console (360) version is decent, and works. *sigh* Edited. Wok for Work. *sigh again, for a different reason *
  3. Re: Mutants and Masterminds: Why did you stay/come back? My wife has the worst luck with dice. And we proved it. Over a 3 month period of playing twice each week we charted what she rolled for 3 dice roll under (i.e. attacks and skill rolls), and damage rolls. She used the same dice for each, and halfway through she switched dice. - lots of data, variable dice, same dice for roll high and roll low. Her average roll on 3d6 - 12.8 Her average single die roll for damage - 2.9 The GM let her buy a couple extra levels and a couple extra dice. Since going electronic she hasn't had that problem.
  4. Re: Champions: Why did you stay/return? I detested the Damage Save.
  5. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? I Don't Need Another Thrill - Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers.
  6. Re: Planets of SF Author Hats Mathesonworld - seemingly like earth, but people struggle against great odds, unusual situations and quite often lose. However the deaths are remembered as legends, or as bravery fighting that which is greater than you. People may die in these struggles but it is a "good death". Wilsonworld - a libertarians dream. Anyone can do what they want, with minimal laws and taxation, but the people don't turn towards chaos. Men of action fight things beyond nature, and there are a number of groups of people that are amazingly talented with ancient weapons. There is a legend of a strange figure that appears when needed to heal and help those in need, and disappears again for centuries. Given I reference a few specifics, but the themes are all over each writer's work.
  7. Re: Champion's Universe or your own I remember the Doom adventure.
  8. Re: Champion's Universe or your own I create my own worlds, but do use many elements of the CU - Viper, Destroyer, and others. I also use elements from SAS, Gurps Supers, the Freedom City Universe, and other superhero RPGS. All mixed together with my own creations and out comes my world.
  9. Re: Fastest man alive If no one else quoted this, I was going to.
  10. Re: Transgendered Superperson This wouldn't really fit Black Cat - she is a martial artists, so nothing to change her. If something did (the external attack), she'd just change herself back (complete physiological control). Terminal Velocity would freak out, but settle down - he'd try and find a way to change back all the time though. He would never be comfortable that way. He likely wouldn't give up his powers though. Sift would just change herself back (minor cosmic pool - she is a Godling). Meeb, well nothing would happen with him - what is the opposite gender for someone who reproduces by mitosis anyway. I tend to play character who have control of their own body, so that kind of thing is something the character could just reverse. If the GM wouldn't let me use powers that are designed to keep this sort of thing from happening (or could cure it) in the cases of Black Cat or Sift, I'd leave the game.
  11. Re: Poll: What do you play Glad to be of service. Which thing I said prompted that - the background for my Legacy game where I merged background from two defunct old campaigns (mine and Pariah's), or the merging I did with Black Cat's History... or even my Transworld Fantasy game I ran? Man I run a lot of multidimensional stuff. Look like I may be gaming in another campaign soon - one of our players hasn't been able to make the game due to real life reasons, but now it looks as if he will be soon joining us, and I will be playing in a Star Hero (with low powered superpowers) game. Based somewhat on Farscape (a favorite show of both mine and the GMs). So I can't wait for that - I've always wanted to do a Star Hero thing.

  13. Re: Sixth Edition Showcase #4: Deflection, Reflection, And Range
  14. Re: Sixth Edition Showcase #4: Deflection, Reflection, And Range I don't especially like this one - Block (and now ranged Block) is just an OCV vs OCV way to avoid damage (as Dodge is a DCV vs OCV way to avoid damage). In 5ER the only SFX thing to block is about not blocking a Move Through done by a vehicle. I've seen a block defined as a dodge with expert timing, because that is just the SFX - someone is just relying on ability to attack for timing. So I find it funny that Missle D was adjusted, at least partially, because of the SFX inherent in the power, then the new ranged block does exactly the same thing - defines ranged Block and limits it mechanically by SFX. One of the SFX for block in UMA (or Ninja Hero) was just "taking it on the chin". Using ranged block, you can't pull the same stunt. That is just off to me. I'll likely end up using the new Deflect and Reflect, but a ranged block can be defined any way the player likes it.
  15. Re: Secrets of Gamma World Is 5th the really annoying one that was tied to d20 future? The one that didn't capture the tone and feel of all the previous editions of gamma world? Put out by S&S IIRC. 'Cuz that one really sucked. And the idea that pure strain humans not really being humans (being genetic enhancements) goes all the way back to 2nd ed and some of the cannon articles in Dragon/Ares. Cyborgs were allowable as playable PCs in 3rd, in one of the rules supplements/modules (Epsilon Cyborg if I am not mistaken), I seem to recall rules for Android PCs in that one..
  16. Re: WWYCD: HE is not himself.
  17. Re: WWYCD: HE is not himself. Replace Zl'f with Black Cat, and the date to 1989, and you have my response exactly. And if a GM came to me with the idea of getting my input on whether or not I wanted to have this plot run (rather than just dropping it on me) I would tell him absolutely not.
  18. Re: An Opportunity For Self-Improvement
  19. Re: Microtransaction (Cryptic Bucks) Info Up A big turn off for me - they said mostly cosmetic, and I would be find with that... but if there are any, and I mean any, in game effects that can be purchased with microtransactions you immediately have the "guy with the deep pockets gets the more powerful X" - one of the reasons I stopped playing CCGs and related games. I have never played MMOs, and I don't generally like to play online with people, so I have been on the fence about CO. This news pushes me further to the "nope" side of the fence. I will wait and see however - It all depends on how it works on the 360 - my computer doesn't have the minimum specs to run it on PC.
  20. Re: Top 5 Favorite 5E Supplements Fantasy Hero Post Apoc Hero Ultimate Martial Artist Algernon Files Gestalt
  21. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Gimme Gimme Gimme (A man after midnight) - Sinergy (from the Metal Tribute to Abba).
  22. Re: Poll: What do you play I run a Fantasy Hero game very sporadically (a 5 or 8 session adventure every year or so). We rotate through 3 different Champs games all the time, and the Wife runs me a solo game that is sort of Champs - She is an inter-dimensional agent (Yeah, that's Black Cat), but the game doesn't really use any superhero tropes. The closest comics I can think of would be Grimjack, and that is a fair distance.
  23. Re: Sixth Edition Showcase #2: New Combat Maneuvers; Objects As Weapons I like the new combat maneuvers, and I am hoepful about the new multiple attack stuff. Most of the maneuvers that are listed, we have been using houseruled versions of for years - built them as "0 point" martial arts maneuvers and made them everyman stuff.
  24. Re: Sixth Edition Showcase #1: ACV And AVAD Good call. I missed that - too set in my ways I guess. And (to Archermoo) as to why it could be a problem (and very easily could not be as well)... AVLD uses defenses. NND does not (life support, hard ear covering, being grounded are all classic NND things). Merging the two seems odd, because they each seem to operate under a different paragidm. However If in AVAD you move something to a "rare" defense and that defense can be defined not as a X PD/ED/MD ect but as a status (if you will) then there shouldn't be a problem. ACV looks wonderful - I've been doing things like that for years anyway. To be honest this is exactly the kind of thing I am looking forward to in 6th - I am keeping figureds and ECs, but I assume there will be lots of new powers and advantages that will be great for me to steal. And that will improve my game, so even if I am not playing 6th, it could be worth the money to get. So Steve, thanks for the preview - it moved up the chance of my buying 6th right away.
