You guys rock. Together, we've converted a one-shot pun into a theme! Rep all around!!

The DESILU, an acronym for Dimensional Environmental Suit - Integrated Logistics Utility, represents the pinnacle of multidimensional exploration and survival technology. This state-of-the-art suit is designed to ensure the utmost safety and efficiency for its users in a variety of hostile and unpredictable environments.
COPA: The DESILU is meticulously sealed against a vast array of diseases and poisons, featuring a sophisticated filtration system. This system, the Critical Oxygen Provision and Assimilation system is capable of identifying and neutralizing biological, chemical, and particulate threats, ensuring the wearer's safety in environments rife with airborne or contact hazards. Equipped with a cutting-edge dual-feed oxygen system, the DESILU provides a continuous and reliable air supply. Proton Labs, in cooperation with Burger King, provide pelletized Whoppers™, onion rings, and a variety of fizzy drinks.
FRED: The suit's exterior boasts a highly durable, yet flexible armored casing, the Fortified Resilient Exoskeletal Defense system. This armor is designed to withstand extreme physical impacts, thermal fluctuations, invective, sarcasm, fashion advice, bad grammar, and corrosive elements, offering unparalleled protection without sacrificing mobility. Comes in a variety of sporty colors and even that hue-shifting paint you’ve heard so much about.
LUCI: At the heart of the DESILU is the Logical Universal Computing Integration its advanced on-board computer. This system houses an extensive dimensional wiki, encompassing a wealth of information on various dimensions' characteristics, flora, fauna, and physics. It also includes comprehensive biological and physics databases, allowing for on-the-spot analysis and decision-making. The LUCI comes equipped with a high-precision calculator, rangefinder, and substantial data storage capabilities. These tools are essential for navigation, research, and tactical assessments in complex environments. As a precaution, the computer is not an AI. We do learn from our lessons here at Proton Labs.
MERTZ: A full spectrum sensor suite, the Multimodal Electromagnetic Radiation Transmission and Zone (detection) package integrates an inertial compass for navigation in environments where traditional compasses fail. This device offers accurate directional guidance irrespective of external magnetic fields, gravitational anomalies, or dimensional distortions. Can also be used as an external drink holder.
RICKY: The suit is integrated with a strength-enhancing feedback system; the Robotic Intensification Compression Kinesthetic Yielder. This feature amplifies the wearer's physical capabilities, allowing for the handling of heavy equipment, the execution of demanding physical tasks, and enhanced endurance. A lot of the suits provide +8 STR and +8 CON, but our example system provides +3 STR and +3 CON, known among Proton Labs personnel as “Little RICKY.”
ETHEL: Perhaps the most remarkable feature of the DESILU is its full-featured Reality Stabilizer, the Environmental Threat/Hazard Emergency Limiter. This technology maintains a stable environmental bubble around the wearer, counteracting the destabilizing effects of interdimensional travel and exposure to exotic physics. It ensures the wearer's safety amidst the unpredictability of cross-dimensional exploration. The last round of test subjects did not turn into rabbits as was expected.
In summary, the DESILU is not just a suit but a portable fortress, a mobile research lab, and a lifeline for those brave enough to venture into the unknown realms of multidimensional space. It stands as a testament to human ingenuity and the relentless pursuit of knowledge and exploration.

Well, my last campaign was one with all natural powers so this or a similar construct was common.

Regeneration (1 BODY per 6 Hours) (6 Active Points); Limited Power- No strenuous activity while healing Power loses about half of its effectiveness (-1) 3 Real points.

Most supers with this would be good to go from most battles in a day or two, one week max for really serious injuries.

Right, if it could go either way, give it to the player character.  If they probably wouldn't make it, let them just barely pull it off, gripping to the edge of the building with their fingernails.  Use a DEX or appropriate roll to get up safely.  This is HERO games, not chump games like real life where you'll probably fail and die.

If your ground movement can still legitimately be called "running" you're doing better than I am.  I prefer to think of it as a "determined stride" at this point, but "lumbering advance" might be more accurate.

Still swimming well, although the breast stroke wreaks havoc on my knees if I do more than a few laps.  Rather stick to the crawl or backstroke.
No reason not to at least try in an emergency, though.  What's the worst that could happen, your tombstone reads "He died flapping" or something?

Physics doesn't work that way.  Your downward acceleration from gravity will certainly make you fall faster and faster, but the only thing reducing your horizontal momentum from running off the roof is wind resistance.  In most cases involving even superhuman physiques you'll likely hit the ground before your horizontal movement comes to a halt - although capes and patagia and whatnot might change the math some.

Not really worth worrying much in a game, but (for example) the fact that a bomb only slowly diverges from the horizontal vector it shared with the plane it dropped from is pretty much the basis of the science of putting falling ordnance on target.

That would depend on relative heights. If his Running velocity can cover the distance before he falls too far from his basic leap, then he makes it. If not, he slams into the side of the next building somewhere below the spot he was trying for. Maybe he does a move-through on that wall and goes through. The person who bought Leaping always has a better chance of success but Hero is about cinematics not realism.

Or, we don't impose a default that's not official, and assess AVADs and NNDs with care anyway. Those Advantages come with warnings, so even an inexperienced HERO GM should know to approach them warily.

I've never bought the notion that GMs and their players have to be so adversarial that they necessarily get into an "arms race" just because one of them wants an unusual Power build. A good gaming group should have enough trust to compromise on such issues, and IME the issues can almost always be worked out.

Grailknight got a reaction from Hermit in DC Movies- if at first you don't succeed...
Just saw Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and can't understand the negative press. Was it Oscar quality acting and writing? No. Did it have good action, a cohesive plot and characters with understandable motivations? Yes, to all three.

The worst thing I can say about this movie is that it redoes the plotline of the first with Orm in Mera's role and sibling rivalry instead of romantic tension. But it does so many good things to counteract that. It only teases a long fight scene against run of the mill thugs, The things they do fight are credible threats either in numbers or power, the humor is kept in check and doesn't seem forced, and the evil masterplan is over the top only in its timescale.

Best of all, the characters remain consistent in personality and in powers. Black Manta is given a powerup through Faustian bargain, but remains true to his vendetta against Arthur without slipping into melodramatic villainy. Orm has plenty of reasons to hate Arthur from his perspective but does still act for Atlantis" benefit as he sees it and comes to realize that he doesn't really know Arthur. Arthur realizes that he's a flawed king, but he keeps on plugging away as best he can. The rest of the cast is used fairly well and not overly distracting in any way.

Is it the best superhero movie out there? No, but it's a very solid entry in the genre an if DC had more like it, they wouldn't be in such a state. It's easily as good as any GotG movie and very similar with a more serious tone. Solid 7.5 out of 10 from me.

I'm just going to take a moment to provide context regarding Beau. The title of his video is, "Let's talk about Trump, Seal Team Six, and rivals." That is the subject of the video, no false advertising; and he doesn't outline how he's going to link those, although anyone could draw their own conclusions. Provocative? Sure. As L. Marcus points out, he has to intrigue to draw views. Click bait? That's open to interpretation.

The scenario is one actually brought up in the trial, including the use of Seal Team Six. Beau pointed out that what Trump's own legal team is arguing the courts should define as presidential immunity, leads logically to the President being able to do such a thing without penalty unless Congress acts -- which his lawyers stated -- and that the threat of such force would make it practically impossible for Congress to act. And as unclevlad mentioned, Trump's team is already vetting loyalists for high level positions in his administration, who would be expected to not oppose such an order. We know this because his associates have said so, in so many words. (That was the subject of another Beau video.)

Take Seal Team Six out of the equation -- which wasn't even Beau's example -- and the scenario becomes probable if Trump gets what he's demanding. But even if he doesn't, it's a stark reminder and warning of what kind of man he is, what he wants, and what his return as POTUS would mean for America. That's what Beau underscores in the video.

Oh for sure, Seal Team 6 would never obey such an order. But Trump could find people who would.

Trump has done and gotten away with (so far) enough things that we thought nobody could or would try that I don't think this hypothetical can be dismissed as pure hysteria.

The core issue, I think, is that when presented with such an absurd extension of his argument, Trump's lawyer didn't immediately reply, "No that's ridiculous, it could never happen, the President would be in jail so fast it'd make your head spin." His response at the time seemed to be. "...Maybe?"

    It can happen here.

HERO is so good at representing everything and anything in mechanical terms that I think it's easy to slide into thinking that everything *must* have a mechanical representation, paid for with points on a character sheet. I can unfortunately imagine an exchange something like this:

Rubber Band Man's Player: "The Sun Stone could be a source of limitless energy! I need to get it back to my lab to study."

GM: "How do you plan on moving it? Like the name says, it's as hot as the surface of the Sun. It isn
't burning anything right now because it's magnetically levitated. If you take it out of the starship engine, it won't be."

I'm On Fire Guy's Player: "My costume doesn't burn up when use my Damage Shield, so let's make a bag from my costume. We can carry it that way."

GM: <fixes glittering eye on player> "Oh? And did you spend points on your costume being fireproof all the time? If it's not on the character sheet, it doesn't exist."

Now, I think The GM is being a jerk. Players should be rewarded for clever use of resources and capabilities. Sketchpad found the phrase I was looking for before: Using the costume this way is a *power stunt,* which is a thing in HERO but mentioned so briefly that it's easy to forget about it. And even that's been "mechanic-ized" by adding the Power skill, with rules for your chance to fail depending on the Active Points of the stunt effect.

(One way, and not the only one, in which I think earlier editions were better *because* they were looser.)

Yeah, 4d6 HKA is enough to cut through your average tree and it's where I usually cap the DC's in a fantasy game. You could also go to an old school game rule that's not seen much today: types of damage. Trees are probably tougher against bashing than piercing and even weaker against slashing.

Godzilla Minus One.  This movie is entirely in Japanese, with subtitles.  It's also really good--Skull Island good.  As most movies do, it fails a bit when it comes to the physics.  But that's not the point of the movie at all.
