  1. Re: Person of Steel, Significant Other of Tissue paper Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. Not everyone is seeing it, and if they're not stating it's intentional (and as you noted WB/DC won't go for that in any way, shape, or form) perhaps it is all 'in the eye of the beholder'. It's turned into an ever more awful show in recent seasons anyway. I'd suspect it'll be pulled due to low ratings in 1-2 seasons. There's a limit they can manage with 'freak of the week' and the 'main storyline' has gotten just plain terrible.
  2. Re: Superman: Character to critique Pretty good... couple things I noted. 1) I feel his physical and energy damage reduction should be 75% resistant. He can handle nuclear blasts at point blank range, after all. 2) I flat out love the Power Pool... it's the only way I can see to simulate some of the more outrageous power feats commonly busted out by the Man of Steel (like putting cotton balls in Lois' ears while moving through and catching a bullet en route through a boat). Nice examples in there too. 3) Dex may be a little high, but as you didn't give him as many levels as I'd expect it's certainly reasonable. Shouldn't he have more than a 6 SPD? Ah well, guess that's what the power pool is for, after all (crazy super tricks). Nice job.
  3. Re: PRIMUS and Teenage Boys PRIMUS grabs the youth, takes him to one of their many shadow ops HQs, and implants him with cerebral cybernetic modifications effectively lobotomizing his free will. Then they implant him with triggered nanotech viral weapons, set to a mnemonic trigger which will activate the bioweaponry when he comes into contact with a sufficiently large number of VIPER higher ups. They modify his memory to prevent any recollection of these events, then stand back wringing their hands and bemoaning how unfair fate is that this splendid youth would risk his life... Just a thought
  4. Re: Person of Steel, Significant Other of Tissue paper This exactly sums up my opinion of the show... your latent telepathic abilities have come into their own!
  5. Re: Is anyone running Galactic Champions? Hmmm... well Mon-El carried a white dwarf star across stellar distances on one occasion I can recall. I'm pretty sure he's powerful enough to make the cut to GC. There's several others who are potent, but whose defenses might be the problem... Sun Boy and Element Lad spring to mind. And others whose defenses are potent but might struggle with the offensive 'oomph'... like Brainiac-5 whose force field has held off cosmic level attacks (such as the Time Trapper). Superboy is a good one (if he exists), same with his cousin Kara (if she's alive - LSH continuity is like a Shrodinger's Cat situation). Wildfire pre-reboot was likely potent enough to be considered a GC character, and I'd think the White Witch would be up there as well, and certainly Projectra/Sensor Girl could be. You'd have to be selective, cutting out a lot of the 'flavor' characters that I love... Bouncing Boy, Triplicate Girl/Duo Damsel, even Invisible Kid are not even close to the might required. A 'faithful' LSH campaign isn't really workable in a GC setting, but you could definitely build a team out of their membership if the others were window dressing for the PCs.
  6. Re: Characer: Koloss I definitely do not approve of the 'newfangled' way to generate this. Doesn't generate the right feel at all. Still doin' it the 'old school way' here... always on + Growth or DI.

  8. Re: Person of Steel, Significant Other of Tissue paper ...oh yeah, and the blue-green radiation trails caused by Superman's FTL semen racing around the earth, unkillable save by kryptonite or magic.
  9. Re: Person of Steel, Significant Other of Tissue paper Yeah, the 'Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex' essay is a funny read... and I am NOT going to point out again who wrote it. One of my favorite parts of that one (if I remember correctly, it's been some years) is where he discusses mating with Supergirl, to 'keep the Kryptonian race going' or something like that. Then points out that Kara is his cousin (or was then, and is now again), and 'only a cad would suggest such a thing!'. That was hysterical... definitely tongue in cheek there.
  10. Re: Alternate Marverlverses Honestly, I'd expect nothing less from Hyperion
  11. Re: Scorpia: Pageant Mom or Compete Physco? I'm gonna go with answer 2 here... she's a psycho hosebeast. Then again, I had her executed by the U.S. government in my Champions 4th Ed campaign after she brutally murdered her 3rd federal agent (Foresight, from Allies). Of course, Professor Muerte then cloned her, but that's another story...
  12. Re: Finding Invisible Woman 'Special Sense Group' powers are good for this as well. Things like N-Ray Vision, Spatial Awareness with wierd 'sfx' (Air Elementalists who sense the displacement of atmosphere, Dark Mystics who sense 'life force', that kind of stuff). Ego Damage shield and plenty of Mental Defense on the big, stupid looking brick type (he's dumb, but has 'Iron Will') is another fun trick to bust out once in a campaign or so on the team Mentalist. Usually good for a chuckle by the player too, if they've got a sense of humor about it (and assuming the GM doesn't go crazy with this trick).
  13. Re: Slade, time management, and you.... Hmmm... well, I'm going to go with the VPP "Writer's Fiat/Writer Loves Me" on this one. And definitely concur with 'whether Slade has ever been able to do this in the past or will be able to in the future is irrelevant'. Unless he's just been saving his XP for all those issues and is now ready to do a character 'reboot' for the new series he'll be taking part in...
  14. Re: Would you allow <blank> in your game? Ditto on this. Guess either we're both weird or you're not weird at all (least in regard to this).
  15. Re: Immunity and invulnerability When you do, don't forget the 75% resistant physical and energy damage reduction on top of the defenses listed, probably with a "not vs. magic, kryptonite, red sun based attacks" or something of that nature. He can shrug off nuclear blasts, after all.
  16. Re: Demigod of Everything Well, in MY case... I'm the demigod of everything by virtue of my plan to conquer, corrupt or destroy all that exists. Including things like spruce trees, fireflies, tubas, and carrots.
  17. Re: O.m.a.c. Hmmm... Psych Lim. (common, total) = 'Must make complicated plans to destroy/defeat/inconvenience superhumans, even when this has been shown to be ridiculously stupid and a terrible idea' Or just maybe... Psych Lim. (common, strong) = 'Cannot escape terrible repetitive scripting, acts only at derivative writer's behest' That'd give Batman an Ego check to have the occasional cool and original storyline. Hmmm... maybe with a couple negative CSLs on that check?
  18. Re: Marvel's Exiles: Hyperion Challenge--build a team to beat him! DC should be happy enough that the vast majority of humanity, when hearing "alien with superhuman physical abilities who flies and shoots eye beams" instantly thinks "Superman". When their product essentially holds the status of Iconic Archetype, they're going to have to deal with the fact that knock-offs and parodies will emerge using their product (Superman) as a point of reference. Would they like to sue about it? Probably, DC likes money and protects their intellectual property just like any corporation. Is it remotely possible they would win? Likely not imho, though I'm not a lawyer either. OTOH, the depiction of Hyperion in Marvel comics causes tons of comic fanboys to think of the Man of Steel (albeit in the Marvel-verse)... hence potentially indirectly promoting DCs product. Same with all the other "Superman-wannabes" like Nefaria, Supreme, Mr. Majestic (though Wildstorm is owned by DC), Gladiator, etc. etc. etc. Hmmm... I just noticed that some of my favorite Marvel characters are Supes knockoffs. (/Rhetorical) How many titles does the Man of Steel have? How long has the Last Son of Krypton been selling comics? (/Rhetorical off) I'd say DC will largely take a position of indifference so long as the copywritten details of the character remain unused... things like "S" shield, names, etc. Though they undoubtedly have their Legion of Super Lawyers perusing the materials on a semi-recurring basis.
  19. Re: PBEM Submissions: NorCal Heroes! Submissions are now closed. Thanks to all who applied. Thanks again for everyone's interest! Final roster of the NorCal Heroes is as follows: Snowbolt (Ice Elementalist) Beetle Bot (Nanotech Metamorph) Topos (Mystic Master) Kronos (Temporal Speedster) Sun Knight (Flying Brick) Battalion (Battlesuit wearing High-Tech Hero) Black Widow (Martial Artist w/ BFHGs)
  20. Re: O.m.a.c. Yup, super lame. To DC's latest crop of writers on this series... "Kiss the rings BIATCH!"
  21. Re: Deathstroke Yeah, I'm betting that marketing his role in Villains United is why they're retconning his power level up so much. I feel bad for the Titans next time they run into him if he's operating on "all cylinders" as depicted lately... he'd crush them worse than he ever did before (at least it was a fight back then).
  22. Re: Deathstroke I also would note that Deathstroke's VPP of weaponry seems largely to have a (-1/2) "only real weapons" limitation. He mostly uses guns, knives, sword, staff (ok built in blaster there... maybe not), bombs, and his martial arts/acrobatics. I think this reflects that despite his "90% brain utilization" he's pretty specialized as a mercenary/combatant. Deathstroke isn't a scientist, nor a detective, nor any other "supersmart archetype" - which makes him very very dangerous for some heroes and not much of a threat for others. Also, each time he "returns from death" he loses memory and goes nuts, which probably cuts down on those "extraneous" skills. I can see him beating up Batman, he's faster, stronger, and very specialized for hand to hand combat. If Bats has time to plan it out, Deathstroke should be worried, "smarter" or not... he'll be facing the equivalent of "radar guided shark repellent" from the Bats VPP. Wonder Woman or Superman? He'll likely give up and hire a good attorney. Like the time he was on trial after the Terra incident, that was clever ("how can you prove this man is the one you fought? He had his face covered and his voice could easily be disguised? How can you prove you are Nightwing/Robin, please remove your mask?"). I can see Deathstroke being a threat, but I think lately he's in a continuously upward spiraling power retcon mode.
  23. Re: Deathstroke This whole exchange struck me as pure cheese... clearly the Black Canary's sonic scream can wreck cars but can't cut through a plastic bag. Bah! Cutting the Flash with a sword was pretty comical as well, guess he can't back up when someone is moving as slow as molasses (from his perspective)... Why was GL standing around contemplating his belly button lint instead of just encasing him in a solid green energy block again? Whatever. Oh well, seemed like a writer's "Deathstroke the Terminator is sooo l33t!" issue to me, but YMMV. He's one tough bad guy, but that was a "let's feature the baddie's super powers" type of issue. If he was to overpower even this (rather light weight - noted the conspicuous absence of any of the team bricks, any of whom would pretty much wipe the floor with Slade - more likely he'd just give up as he's smart and shows willingness to cut his losses rather than fight impossible odds) version of the JLA, he should've had a better plan than that. Ra's Al Ghul with Batman's plans he's not. EDIT: didn't mean to be snarky, this was directed at the writer of the comic, not the poster on this thread. I too have kept up with Deathstroke for a long time (since the Teen Titans era anyway), and this is a major power up... no doubt about it.
