  1. Re: Past VIPER supervillians While there are no Viper attachments, Silver Age Sentinels and the supplement/source book Omlevex have silver age villains that would work. In SaS I'd recomend Alice the Queen of Hearts, Heartbreaker, and Torque. There powerful enough for a contest without outclassing the teen heroes. Omlevex has all silver age baddies of varying power. barring those I'd just adapt an existing character like say Ogre and change his name to something unrecognizable.
  2. Re: Tenative feelers for The Second Semi-Annual Great Champions Challenge Modding Con Good luck and thanks for the heads up.

    DinoMite

Re: DinoMite 1.) To create a disturbance so violent that the authorities have to respond thus getting them out of the way while his agents comb the pc's base for superhuman dna. 2.) Vulnerability to modern chemicals when ingested, revert to animal int when overly stimulated or limited resistance to current disease or pollutants. 3.) Dinomite wants to warn authorities, if intelligent enough to do so, and positioned himself to be captured as a living fossil and wil+l suddenly begin talking when the time is right. The pcs, or someone, run into Telleios' recovery team shortly after dinomite's capture. The Dino is sick due to the aformentioned genetic flaw, thus sick and unable to speak until its useful for the gm to have it do so, and is discovered-braught to a university medical center or the pc.
  7. Re: Tenative feelers for The Second Semi-Annual Great Champions Challenge Modding Con Here ya go
  8. Re: My Champions page Its a great start on a site, very easy to navigate and it has a nice look what with the original art and your font choices. have you got it in the Hero Links section?
  9. Re: New Campaign World History Two things came to mind. 1.) Super humans are hard to bottle up if they don't want to be. What about a private super team of payed "volounteers" ala Chenault's Flying Tigers who would be active before the US enters ww2. Maybe a group of expatriate supers from conquered countries. If nothing else it might make a nice backstory element for a WW2 hero. 2.) Assuming the Nazis experimented with super humanity as they did with all other things, what about some secret history about the US, USSR and others making a grab for their scientists and metas? Perhaps there was a crash program to develop super talents during the Cold War, or maybe some Nazi war criminals are allowed to set up shop in South America in exchange for aid against the Reds. 3.) A few supers on either side of the Civil Rights movement might alter things drastically. If he'd survived, Martin Luther King jr. might be a well respected elder statesman by now. 4.) What happens with HUAC if there are such things as telepaths to uncover the lies? I'd think they'd have to be controlled or destroyed. I can see a sort of t-path underground forming and god help us all if the Soviet under Stalin have some.
  10. Re: Dundracon Miniatures Stiff competition but even amongst the rest your figure stands out pretty well. Good Luck.
  11. Re: Defending America, Apple Pie and Mom! (Help needed with campaign idea) Here are some sources from comics. The atomic jets remind me of DC's Challengers of the Unknown, which was kind of the Fantastic Four sans super powers. They both fought the Reds. The new Freedom Force comic tie in has a very Silver Age mood with commie enemies. Alan Moore's 1963, particularly U.S.A. the Ultimate Super Agent has some good cold war supers. Maybe your super pilots are the only people who can survive the hard rads the plane's reactors are giving off. If not, an idea you might pursue is the space race. I'm thinking the US and USSR might have an even more cut throat competition going on in an attempt to get to the moon and find an alien monolith or something. If you end up doing a 50s campaign, I hope you post some details here as Its the era I'm running mine in and I could use some ideas. Here are some pics of my favorite Super Commie, Rocket Red bod, Avalance head, Steel Hands and hammer and a scikle from an unidentified orc arm from Mageknight.
  12. Re: Where do superpowers come from? I've always thought from the specificity of powers that they must have been enginered. There just didn't seem any proper way for fire or Lasers to launch from someones otherwise normal hands. Hows this? Something alien, maybe extraterrestrial or from another dimention whith different physics, comes to earth. There is an accident, maybe there saucer is shot down, rivals attack, whatever. The aliens are killed and there bodies are torn appart. Alien medical technology has created medical nanites that just stay inactive in the body until injury or infection requres them to get on the job of repairing their host. These nanites were released during the accident and have been absorbed into the human populace. Detecting the differences in human vs alien physionamy and mistaking them as damage in need of repair, they have gone about their job and are thus mistakenly rewriting our dna and bodies into human, alien hybrids. The aliens are perhaps psionic, telekinetic , what-have-you, and now so are we. Perhaps the mentality of the aliens is also different and so the "powers" work oddly when used by human minds. As an example, Telekinesis is an alien power, some humans can't do it at range, they just lift things with their muscles and the TK kicks in making it look like they are super strong rather than psychokinetic.
  13. Re: This week on "Champions"... The Profe$$ionals , 1:00 pm, (Season Finale) The Mafia's super mercenaries land at the Bay of Pigs only to meet Cuban forces backed by the Soviet Super Team. Rayveness is attacked by one of the abused tigers during her niteclub act. With his bodyguards in Cuba, the east coast mob makes it's move against Mr. Siegal. Episode may be delayed due to early pizza delivery.
  14. Re: "Ya better talk Oculon, or you'll get the spike!" (A Super law question) People being declared dead then reviving has been covered in law for some time, unless she reincarnated or occupied another's body, she would still be culpable. re the former question, there was one inmate who survived multiple attempts by the state to electrocute him. in the end they just switched methods but his family sued the state for damages due to "cruel and unusual punishment" due to the many times they ran current through him.
  15. Re: Nudity and Sex in comics books I don't see it as being any different from any other media. Sexuality is part of life and it will naturally come up in a story sometimes. When there is say an obligatory shower scene or a rape placed in the story only to justify the character's acts of sadism against the perp, I object. What makes you ask?
  16. Re: Tenative feelers for The Second Semi-Annual Great Champions Challenge Modding Con It would depend on how long it ran, I'd probably need a month. A month would be to my preference. Atleast there should be a painted miniature and Mod category. Beyond that... I'm always happy to look at mods of any kind so if someone wanted to enter a action figure mod I have no problem. If there were several I'd prefer it had it's own category. Mods Un-modded painted minis Mods, I alter almost everyything, If people wanted to enter both I'd have no problem. The open possibilties appeals to me but I only have the Full line of Champs and Star Hero. I might not recognize a really great Fanasy Hero piece.
  17. Re: Clix mod challenge really nice work, any chance we might get the recipes?
  18. Re: Storage and transport of minis I like Plano boxes, the 30 something space ones particularly with rubberised drawer liners, available in supermarkets, homestores and 99 cent stores, cut to fit and act as shock absorbers. Of course almost all my minis are plastic and more resistant to impact damage. http://www.hempeldesigngroup.com/lego/storage/Plano3700.html
  19. Re: Props and your PCs I practically run a multi media event at this point. Lighting: I have a set of track lights, each of which has a seperate dimmer switch. Two of the three have normal lights and the last will be set up with colored light bulbs. Red is used for events that take place on a ship in combat or sometimes a base under siege, after a serious hit I'll lower the normal banks and put the up on full to get an emergency lighting. Green or blacklight usually denote something more specific such as green for a leaking reactor or blacklight for an alien world. Sometimes a specific villain will get a color but it is rare. Blue and orange, I ran a vampire hunt where I slowly eased down the normal lights and upped the orange to denote the ebbing of the day and increasing vulnerability of the pcs. I reversed it for the slow creep of dawn at the finale. If you are interested in experimenting with lighting for mood this is a very good beginning. For sound I rent a console video game cartridge. Most of these have a screen with volume controls for sound effects, music and dialogue. Originally I used the a Star Wars fighter game to get good space battle music and sound effects but there is no end to the game genres out there. After setting up the game and sound settings, I set up a tapeplayer and record an hour or so. At this point my librairy of sounds and music covers all the major genres from car chases, (Project Gotham Racing), to Golden Age super heroes, (any of the Medal of Honor games) to Giant Japanese monsters, (War of the Monsters, great Silver age atomic menace music and often used by me for Champions in all eras). Add to that an increasing army of scale props and custom heroclix minis. If those are the props you want, check out the new Digital Hero.
  20. Re: First Post, First Character Really nice work and welcome to the forum. This guy would fit perfectly into Vibora Bay.
  21. Re: The New Legion of Super-Heroes In agreement here, I was struck by how good a Teen/Champs 3K campaign it would make. I'm not new to the Legion but the 60s vintage youth genereation vs older establishment seems perfect. My only concern was that the more potential supers in the organization the harder it is to keep powers and roles seperate but its a trade off with knowing that anyone who wants to can drop out, in character or otherwise, and not neccesarily derail the whole campaign.
  22. Re: Millenium Post: Myrmidon Interesting character, he's got a great deal of versatility both power and roleplaying wise. I particularly like the blend of real world and 4 color aspects. Having the NSA on your bad side is a pretty good justification for paranoia. A very complete write up. Two questions: As pertains to my own world, I have a villain group/ mercenary company made up of prominent power armor and gadgeteers from the CU. They stay cohesive by shared problems ie need for maintenance, upkeep, restock of fuel and ammo and being mutually sought after by the authorities. One of the hanging questions has always been how they get the presumably specific and traceable technology to themselves without the authorities getting wise, any insight from how your character handled it? There was a powersuit mini you posted a little while back, was that Myrmidon?
  23. Re: Champions miniatures I'm with Blue on the painting. Have you given any thought to a DH article on the finer technique of layering?
  24. Re: Champions miniatures Dynamite pieces Bill. They all look great but the reworked Scorpia really caught my eye. Looking forward to your new mini article in Digital Hero as well.
  25. Re: UNITY 2010: A New Champions Campaign It sounds good Bill with lots of room to grow and lots of potential plotlines. My questions, were I a player, would most likely be answered by the timeline but I was wondering which countries are and aren't around in 2010. What is the current state of say Cuba or Taiwan? What is the policy for use of UNTIL vehicles and or technology and what is available? Across the globe, where does Until's reach extend and what are the Rogue States/Non member states of 2010? Your position on Extraterrestrials, extra-dimentionals, alternate Earths and all the other high wierdness one sees in 4 colour? Did you ever read Wildcards 4 "Aces Abroad", Gurps Supers "IST" or the comic UN Force? All have good material for you and I think Surbrook has some of the IST translated to 5th on his site.
