  1. Re: Latest info regarding Tunguska Hawt Babes and Ape Men, my friend. Hawt Babes and Ape Men.
  2. Re: Teleportation, huge noncombat, Increased END, Extra Time Just Megascale the second teleport in the MP.
  3. Re: More comfortable in fire than out Isn't it even cheaper if you also buy Cannot Pass Through Solid Objects (-1/2)? That comes to 32 points, just 2 points more expensive than 75% Resistant ED Damage Reduction, Only vs. Fire.
  4. Re: More comfortable in fire than out Why not just get Personal Immunity on his attacks? Would that work?
  5. Re: Help Requested with Machine Guy BTW, do you think "Only Machine-Manipulation Powers" is worth a -1/4 or -1/2 Limitation on the VPP control cost?
  6. Re: Help Requested with Machine Guy To be honest, the character started out conceptually as a power armor guy. I like the idea of power armor, but "a guy in a high-tech suit" is just BORING. So I tried to make it more interesting and so lo and behold Deus-X (thanks for the name!) was born. Plus, I like the idea of an improvised battle suit made on the spot with hubcaps for shoulder guards, part of a laptop serving as a faceplate and part of a lamp sticking out of one side. (Whereas his actual "prepared" suit would be more polished but still with a steamtech look about it, with magical runes and glyphs (are runes and glyphs the same thing?) covering it to channel the spirits.
  7. Re: More comfortable in fire than out Doe speople with True Faith include religious fanatics and/or devil worshippers? If so I would make it -1/4. DEMON will kick his ass.
  8. Re: Help Requested with Machine Guy Deus-X... I like that. Thanks!
  9. Re: Vampire Hero I wouldn't give him a Vulnerability to Fire, just less defense against it. Vampires can be hurt by fire, but they don't go up like Roman Candles.
  10. Re: C.l.o.w.n. Couldn't they just be reimagined and de-goofified??
  11. Re: Suggestions needed: Animal super villains William Blake reference? Tiger burning bright?
  12. Re: C.l.o.w.n. Why is CLOWN considered considered so passe and Silver-Agey? Lots of comedy-theme villains worked in the Bronze and Iron Ages -- Arcade, Joker, the Riddler. Hell the CU has Foxbat (a character I loathe), and he's stretching the goofy envelope.
  13. Re: Latest info regarding Tunguska The Tunguska "meterorite" was actually an escape craft ferrying a group of Hawwt Alien Swimsuit Contestants from their doomed world. The great impact of the vehicle punched through the Earth's crust, depositing them in the primeval world of the Hollow Earth. There, our hawwt alien damsels are being menaced by the Ape Men, who want them to do things it's best not to think about it. Can the intrepid players rescue the hawwt alien babes from a fate worse than death, and possibly find love at the same time? Only time will tell.

  15. Here's the character I've been working on. The provisional background is that the character was working in some as of yet undefined way in some huge experimental computer complex conducting research on advanced computer intelligence, in the course of which all the megacomputers and gizamos and whatnot in the complex were connected. Some freak comic-booky accident occured that resulted in the machine network gaining sentience, and, indeed, a soul, or group of souls. However, just as the network was awakening, the accident destroyed the complex, releasing the anguished spirits of the dead machines, who are now haunting my guy. But in a nice way. The character has control over "machine spirits," which means in effect cyberkinetic powers and the ability to supernaturally mold them into new forms. Most of his powers have been bought with a Focus limitation -- and this is something I'd actually like help with, as I'm not sure of Focus does it. His ability to rework machines is not infinite -- he could, if given a car, make a flamethrower, or with an electric generator make an electric blaster, but some of the initial product must be in the final version. He has a suit he has been absorbing material from various machines into. However, given no suit with him, he could animate for instance a nearby automobile to wrap itself around his body and create an improvised one, probably with less PD and ED than the typical one. I just bought the stuff with OIF, though perhaps Restrainable would be better. I haven't done Disads yet. Name suggestions would also be appreciated! Here he is. I've broken the sample powers in the VPP into three classes, two of chich require the OIF/Restrainable limitation and one of which doesn't. The Regeneration with OIF indicates that if he is badly wounded, nearby machines (his suit or any machines nearby), will perform emergency repairs on his body, replacing damaged organs with temporary cybernetic surrogates and so forth. Sadly I think he'd go down fast in a fight given his low DCV. 16. Re: Pet Powers I have a tendency to take historical personnages or characters in fiction and try to super-ize them. I've been trying to do this with Mary Shelley's Frankenstein for a while now but can't seem to get it right, since I can't decide what he's been doing in the intervening 200 years or what his powers would be other than mild Brickiness. I was going to give him electrical powers but then reread the book and realized the whole "created by electricity" bit isn't in there at all but is a Hollywood invention. I also reworked The Thing (the horror movie one) into a superhero I really, really liked.
  17. Re: Tac-nukes vs. Nuclear Warheads This is not the place to discuss it, but the fact is that twice as many journalists were murdered in Russia under Yeltsin as under Putin. In fact, before the murder of Politkovskaya last year, the most high-profile journalist in Russia to be murdered was the editor of Forbes Russia, Paul Klebnikov. However, not much was made of this because Klebnikov was very, very pro-Putin, so it could not be spun as an act of the "Putin regime." Personally I think Politkovskaya was killed as a provocation, though I have no evidence for this other than that it hurt Putin significantly and he had nothing to gain from it. (It was also suspiciously timed for right when he was heading a major international event.) She wrote for a quasi-tabloid in Russia that is read mostly by extreme liberals and has no influence on Russian politics. It would be like Bush killing Noam Chomsky. There is also the evidence of the so-called "Nevzlin plan," Nevzlin being a Yukos guy wanted for murder now living in Israel, that circulated on the Russian Internet a couple of years ago, which called specifically to kill Politkovskaya, by name, in order to attack Putin. But that was a document on the Internet, so who knows. OK, I said I wasn;t going to go on about this but I did. The buck stops here.

  19. Re: MPAs and Martial Arts Oh crap.
  20. Re: Tac-nukes vs. Nuclear Warheads Guys, speaking as a long-time resident of Russia, I can say that Putin is a hugely, hugely popular president who could easily become president-for-life if he wanted to. The fact that he's not doing so should tell you something. "Putin's Russia" is a meme spun by interested--and easily identifiable--parties in an attempt to influence Western opinion in their favor. Please, please, don't fall for it. Don't be suckers. EDIT -- speaking of which, I got a call from my dad a couple of weeks ago about how he had just seen Kasparov on Larry King or something, and Kasparov had claimed that he had no popularity in Russia because he wasn't given media access. I received this call at the exact same time as I was listening to Kasparov being interviewed on Russian radio. *sigh* (It amazes me that no one ever calls Kasparov on this obvious lie, since anybody who bothers can go to youtube and see him being interviewed on Russian TV,)
  21. Re: What Fantasy/Sci-Fi book have you just finished? Please rate it... Sunshine was very good.
  22. Re: MPAs and Martial Arts Thanks. But then why do the dragons in the Bestiary seem to be designed to do just that? IIRC they have something like this: 60-MP-Dragon Attacks 4u Claws: 1 1/2d6 HKA 4u Bite: 2d6 HKA Armor-Piercing 8m Tail Bash: 8d6 HTH Attack
  23. Re: MPAs and Martial Arts So how do the lions and so forth in the Bestiary use both their claws and bite simultaneously, as I assume they do? (Because that's what real lions do.) There must be some mechanism.
  24. Re: MPAs and Martial Arts Actually it is an animal-based (dinosaur-based) character. The first KA is his bite, the second is his foreclaws and the last is his "Terrible Claw." I had them all stuck in a multipower, so in theory he could either attack with the claws and bite simultaneously or just attack with the TC (30-Point MP, the first two are cheap enough to come up to 30 pts. together and the third costs 30 pts.)
  25. Re: MPAs and Martial Arts Great, thanks! PS. If have natural weapons (claws), do I have to buy WE: Claws?
