  1. As it happens, I just posted a photo on FB, so here she is! Unseen but a few degrees to the left is my collection of superhero chess pieces; I may inflict some of those on the board as we progress to the finals.
  2. I think I would prefer that, relatively low-point, straightforward pre-builds (w. plenty of personality and complications). A Teen Titans/Avengers Academy type team. As discussed before, Hero products often tend to show all the gizmos under the hood before it finally gets to the fun part: example characters. Reversing the formula by introducing a colorful pick up and play team, with recurring villains, dependants and NPC advisors/foils might appeal to a) new players b ) returning players who want to refamiliarize themselves with the sytem, and c) veterans who might use characters/locations as material in their own games (and there could always be designer notes .pdfs or somesuch with fully fleshed out builds for the grognards). I always thought a computer game with young supers starting out in a garage but gradually obtaining prestige, connections, vehicles, equipment, and building a base would be completely addictive (Freedom Force took steps in this direction but something more like X-Com would be better). Just a layperson's .02!
  3. If anybody got 100% of these, a) I am in awe and b ) you really need to wipe your brain's hard drive and fill it with something useful!
  4. I hope everyone enjoyed the day. I'm afraid my mother passed away unexpectedly many years ago but I cherish her memory. I also got a new puppy today - Winky the smartest terrier/chihuahua/dalmation mix (?) on the planet!
  5. That's still a fun image with the not-Indy, not-Bond, not-Rambo, not-Swamp Thing and all the others. I played Toon back in the day and it's honestly hard to think of Hero being used for that style of play but anything's possible. Re: Ms. Blue/Yellow, the artist seems to have given her a prominent 'power belt' that could be her focus (or it could just be decorative).
  6. I've been busy getting my butt kicked in the arena league a few menus down, but I do love this thread and hope it continues. Doesn't even have to be teams, just interesting characters from old supplements.
  7. I think I once proposed going the other way - a group who honestly believe plants are superior to mammals and are working on a (very gradual) plan to eliminate the human race and give our planet back to its rightful owners. The classic Dr. Who story Seeds of Doom gives an example of this kind of wack-job! Possible name: the Harvesters.
  8. Kinda lost by this thread, though it does seem a lot would depend on circumstances. Does Hero consider 6e OOP? You can get both volumes as .pdfs for $30 in the store right now.
  9. Same here, especially BigdDamnHero's Interesting list - and I actually have most of them in my library! But I will try to add Hudson City and Ultimate Mentalist. Lucha Libre is Mexican pro wrestling, correct? It seems to get a lot of good buzz, tho I have no idea why!
  10. Of course, he needs an arch-enemy, the Marshal, still trying to overthrow les Etats-Unis!
  11. I was wondering if we'd see the other squishy 'Thing'! I always liked Man Thing better, but the DC character did have his own show once: "I know the evil that men do. . .do not bring your evil here. . do not incur the wrath of . .. Swamp Thing!
  12. I actually just bought that on clearance sale! Looks interesting. Did we skip Rose's pick? I didn't see it, just wondering.
  13. I look forward to facing off against Brain Fart in the arena. . .
  14. No, I picked! I PMed Lady Pariah, who said she had several choices lined up. . .
  15. Too many options for the Final Round, I went with another dude who pushes the boundaries of what it means to be a superhero: Ghost Rider (Johnny Blaze) Yep, him and Lobo can form their own little biker gang together. Wonder if I should finally get around to watching the Nick Cage movie?
  16. Cool! I've actually been reading his very first issues in an archive edition; in one he does actually make a 'web-a-chute'. I'm trying to remember, when did Peter actually learn photography (it was early on)?
  17. Well, we are back on track again. For my team of mostly morally bankrupt ne'er-do-wells, there was only one choice. Like Lobo, neither heaven nor hell want him. The very embodiment of nihilism, nations and armies quake at the mere mention of his name. I give you. . . Groo, the Wanderer! He has been with multiple publishers, including Pacific, Dark Horse and Marvel/Epic. Apparently, his first appearance was technically with Eclipse, four measly pages in one, count 'em, one issue. I appeal to our wise and judicious commisioner to extend leniency and give him at least partial credit for the 'no-Eclipse' bonus. Bazza up next!
  18. Marvel has him again, now that Disney bought out both them and the Star Wars franchise. I find that whole thing weird. I would guess that half or more of Yoda's comic appearances were with Dark Horse, tho, so he would seem to qualify as an indie.
  19. Yeah, who knew there were so many? I wonder if they were at least provided with some kind of Kryptonite-ey debilitating weakness. One FISS per team, people, or this League will start to get lame.
  20. Lol, Superman's little Seinfeldesque comment: "This could take a while. . ." Also, we have the possibility of the most epic match-up of all time: Dr. Doom vs Squirrel Girl!!
