I've just about given up on American society. Corruption and ignorance are its pillars and quite frankly it's mind numbing to be in the middle of it all.

I didn't like Christopher Reeve's portrayal of Clark Kent (though he's still the best ever Superman, imho), but I can't fault Brandon Routh for delivering when asked to imitate it as closely as possible.

I've been reading comics with Carol Danvers in them since her team up with Spider-Man against the Super Skrull in the 1970s, and the only time I recall her not being an arrogant hard case was just after Rogue stole her powers and Prof. X had to rebuild her memories from the ground up. Her movie depiction wasn't warm, or soothing to male viewers' threatened egos, but it seemed pretty spot-on in terms of getting her essence from the comics right.

For the most part the game plays pretty much the same as it did in the older editions.  The biggest change is probably the stun multiplier for KA, which is a good thing.  It used to be that the single most powerful 60 point power was the 4d6 RKA.  With a good roll it could take down just about any character.  The second thing would be the new power damage negation which I also think is a good addition.  It allows you to basically pay to be able to ignore a certain amount of damage classes.

The elimination of figured characteristics is also a good thing.   Sure it cost more but it leads to better characters.  Now there is less reason to buy up certain stats just to save points.  CON is the biggest example of this.  It used to be that everyone bought up CON as high as they could to save points on the figured stats.  STR was not quite as bad but it did lead to most characters being bricks or at least having brick like stats.  It does mean that stats cost more, but you get more points so it works out to be about the same.  The only exception is that purchasing the base stats just to get the figured stats no longer works.  So some characters who exploited the cost savings of the figured stats will be less powerful.

Advantages and limitations have changed a little.  In general there are more options to refine how you purchase things.  For example now the advantage for an area of effect is based on how large an area it covers.  This allows you to get more powerful attacks with a smaller area.  There are more options for having an attack that works against different defenses.  Now if the defense is the same level or rareness it does not cost anything.

Disadvantages have been replaced by complications.  Complications don’t give you any points, but you are required to take a certain amount of complications.   The amount of complications you need is a lot less than the maximum disadvantages used to be.  For example a standard super hero is built on 400 points and has to have 75 points in complications.  I think this allows a GM to actually use the complications more than in the previous editions.  When you had half a page of disadvantages it was hard for the GM to really use them without seeming like he was picking on the character.  To me this is one of the best things about 6th edition.

As I said if you have played Hero system before it will not be that different.  The game plays pretty much like it did in earlier editions.  The biggest difference will be in character creation.  Once the characters are created they actual play will be very similar to older editions.   In short I would highly recommend going to 6th edition.

I don’t agree with some of the design decisions for the rules in 6E.  However, I think the bigger problem with 6E in general (and Champions Complete in particular) is not the rules, but the way those rules are used for the source material provided to gamemasters.  It wouldn’t be hard to write up Shrinker in 6E with the functionality of her 4E character sheet, and that would have been a much better example character for Champions Complete to use.  I just don’t see how any GM uses the 6E Shrinker in an adventure for players new to the system.

How fortunate that, in the real world (you feel Thanos' motivations are unrealistic, right?), people NEVER rally behind a really stupid solution to a very real, scary and complex problems.

Or does that happen on occasion?

Hey, let's build a wall to keep illegal immigrants from slipping in over the Rio Grande!

You know what would REALLY help low income earners?  Trickle down economics!

Hey, let's outlaw alcohol - that will resolve all the abuse problems, and would never boost organized crime!

Laissez-faire - the Invisible Hand of the Free Market will ensure economic equity!

This is a kid-friendly board, I hope, so we will not address some brilliant ideas for solving the problem of teen pregnancy!

And, of course, those promoting really stupid solutions are always 100% honest about their motives, both to themselves and to the outside world, right?

Viewed in light of my comments above, I see another socio-political statement one could intuit.

Or we could assume that the writers wanted to sell  movie tickets, and a "villain" with really noble intentions, and a solid and rational plan to achieve them, isn't the best draw for action movies to become a summer blockbuster.\

What was Shakespeare really trying to say?  "My rent is due and my family wants to eat" is a strong possibility!

Now I disagree with your premise wholeheartedly.   Aside from villains like the Joker who exist only to be monsters, the most memorable and compelling villains are those we can empathize with, because we can feel what drives them and appreciate that any one of us could have gone down their path and ended up like them. There's still something in them that's recognizable and admirable: Dr. Doom's code of honor, Magneto's mutant crusade, Norman Osborn's love for his son. Look how popular the MCU's Loki is.

Besides, Thanos in Infinity War is evil, but he's also the protagonist of the movie.

Guys, look at this objectively. This is a person who obsessively desires and believes he deserves a romantic relationship with the personification of DEATH! This is necrophilia and nihilism mixed with god complex and taken to the Nth degree. The only reason it makes sense to you is because you've grown accustomed to it over decades of the character's history. To any moviegoer without comic exposure (the majority of them), that idea would sound beyond insane. The movie Thanos's motivation at least has a relatable cause and logic, albeit flawed logic.

I'm not sure why it would reduce DCV either, but this feels like "aiming for a specific vulnerable part of the target".  Actually, I prefer the reduced OCV for a "Swing wildly for the fences" haymaker.  less likely to connect with that horribly wild swing, but if it DOES connect...it REALLY connects.

I really don't see how they could have done much better. Government has to wield power to be effective, and governments are made up of people, with everything that entails. They created government with three co-equal branches dividing their powers, and two of them directly accountable to the citizenry. For Donald Trump to actually have become a dictator would require a degree of pervasive corruption among all three branches, and of widespread gullibility plus pettiness among the voting public, that not only the Founders, but none of us until a few years ago, would have thought possible.

But it's worth noting that Trump didn't become a dictator. He came very close, but the system did ultimately stop him. Now America is forewarned. If the next one to try actually succeeds, America will truly deserve the government it gets.

The lake's name comes from Loup, an Algonquian language, and is often said to mean, "Fishing Place at the Boundaries—Neutral Meeting Grounds".  A more fitting translation is "lake divided by islands", according to anthropologist Ives Goddard.

Being better than Trump is a very low bar. America has had dishonest or incompetent Presidents before, but never one so actively, deliberately destructive to its guiding principles and basic institutions. That Trump is still able to maintain this level of both self-serving devotion and blind loyalty says as much about human nature as it does about him.

Well, what effect would this have on the campaign? If it doesn't have a real effect (it's a generic fantasy town, except that the local lord is the PC), then it could just be the SFX of his wealth and nobility perks. If he wants to build it as a base, then he gets whatever he chooses to pay for. If he wants followers based there that help him adventure (men at arms, a wizard that can scry) he can buy them as followers, but he shouldn't have to pay for the local guards if they stay in town while he's off slaying dragons or whatever.

And, of course, if the town is constantly being attacked by dragons, then it's a DNPC.

I only allow haymaker for melee weapons or fists, but I allow a variant that lets you take all the same penalties but then get a +4 bonus to called shot attacks.  A super-careful aim rather than a super-strong attack.

Bows have an absolute limit on how much you can "draw" them and how much power you can get out of them.  No amount of extra effort will make them suddenly hit harder than proper use.  If you can make a bow hit harder by drawing it more, then you've not been using it correctly before.

Even the first shot should be pretty effective in reducing your chances of serious consequences if you do contract Covid-19 before the second, so you can start unloading worry now.

For the most part I see no reason not to use all the maneuvers.   About the only one I can see not allowing would be suppression fire.  Since normally there are no autofire weapons in a fantasy setting it makes it hard to perform this maneuver.  The magic rules we normally use do require attacks spells be cast each time they are used so hosing down an area with an autofire spell is not possible.

The rules are pretty clear that you can perform a haymaker with any attack.  I see no reason to change this.  Penalizing a player for choosing a different combat style does not really seem fair.  I would encourage the players to reflavor haymaker and other maneuvers.  An archer might say they are taking careful aim.  A wizard might say they are spending extra time to gather their power.  As long as the character is taking the extra time and the penalty to DCV they are good.
