  1. Hello Hero People. In a few days, i will be GMing a initiation game to Hero. The theme is super-heroic with a strong manga influence. i will build the characters myself and then give them to the players. One of my future players wants to play Ichigo “Strawberry” Kurosaki, a character from the manga "Bleach". a tiny problem : i don't know anything of this manga/anime. From what I read on the Net, this guy is something named a "soul reaper" : He has the ability to see ghosts and spirits (detect ghosts, sense, sight group) He has the ability to touch spirits ( Strength, affects desolid) He can create a sword to fight/hurt ghosts (HKA, affects desolid) Could someone, with a good knowledge of this manga tell me more about it, please ? Cheers Daniel
  2. Re: Champs Worldwide: Whaddya want? this should rather be in the picture thread but since i've read CU 5th; i've wanted to make a character sheet for Bastille, the french powered-armored hero(ine) : i already found the picture (just sharing) :"li'l Mecano" by Bruno Bellamy
  3. Re: Anyone else awaiting this? There's a Green Lantern movie coming ???.
  4. Re: Champs Worldwide: Whaddya want? (hello, just back from vacations so "bonne année" everyone !. I volunteer. Personally i would like to see : - more paranormals from third world countries (especially indian supers) - Fleur-de-Lys from Watchers of The Dragon; the only good french super i've seen so far. - more full character art like in CKC instead of portraits. - More Storn art (sorry, a fan-boy is speaking)
  5. Re: Should the 5th CU have a "Euro Guard"? I thought about the same thing when i brought up NATO but something annoys me in the logic of that. As several members of NATO are non-EU; pulling out of the NATO all these supers will certainly cause a lot of opposition from the NATO-but-non-EU countries -which includes the USA, most influent member of the alliance - So i guess that for some reason, several members had to leave the Euroguard project due to various reasons. So, it depends when the Euroguard has been founded; before the Fall of the Berlin Wall, the transfer of Euroguard could be explained by 1989) - the fall of the wall itself (1989) and then, the disolving of USSR, making the Euroguard something less useful to counter the dying communist threat. 19?) the creation of Eurostar (which year ??) 1992) the destruction of Detroit (1992) : this event forces the USA and the Canada to call back their supers home cancelling the Euroguard project de facto. 1992) The Maastricht treaty effectively cancels the custom borders and permits free trade among the members of EU. this new permeability obliges the members states to find a new way to fight super-crime hence the transfer of the former Euroguard from the NATO to the EU
  6. Re: Our spiffy new Teleportation gizmo i did this several times for my NPC villains (or "how to bring frustation to PCs") "uniform of strategic retreat" Teleport (x)" * (some levels of non-combat Teleport) + Megascale (scalable down) + trigger (command word or PC unconscious) + armor-piercing (but it's optional) - IIF, personal use only (uniform) - Charge : one, recoverable i don't have the values in mind, f someone could help me.

  8. Re: Should the 5th CU have a "Euro Guard"? There ! there ! a pretext to display my euro-fanatism, yoohoo !! and, in my young days -1996- i did something like this: after watching too much "Mask" and "Mission:impossible", the idea was to creat a team of 15-20 members (one per country) and for each mission, select the best agents for said mission. and they even have a website : http://www.eurostar.com Sadly, i must that you're right on this. forget all patriot archetypes. likely for points 1) and 2) (france, germany, poland); unlikely for point 3) UK is mainly seen as a loose cannon within EU; Tony Blair is the first real pro-european prime minister of UK. so, it would stay apart even more than the others. However, the fight against terrorism has seldom been a problem within UE. Tensions are mainly commercial and political. Europol is the proof of this. Euroguard is fine; they don't have a lot of imagination in Brussels. (you cannot imagine the strife about the naming of the common currency -euro- anything was meaning something bad in at least another language) Legally : the EU has (theorically) not a military vocation so the very first choice would probably be NATO (currently lead by the dutch Jaap de Hoop Scheffer) but only as a footstart. the participation of non-european countries (you, US guys!) would probably lead to a independent structure after. Since 1999, there is Europol http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europol or http://www.europol.eu.int/ this structure in the real world has only a role of support to the national law enforcement organisations but in the CU, it can easily be transformed in something more efficient - they did it for the UN after all- against Eurostar as a terrorist team, there's also a director of coordination for anti-terrorism -for NATO, Europol and the national polices - currently it's the dutch Gijs de Vries. finally, Europol has a partnership with UN. So, in the CU, it would mean a partnership with UNTIL as well. If i count on 20 supers from all Europe in the team. i would divide in at least 4 teams of 5 supers with possibilities of shifting according to missions. 1) close to the institutions since Eurostar will mainly target them. Europol HQ are in The Hague (Netherlands) 2) not in countries with national super teams (simply because it's better not to concentrate all the supers in one place and let some places undefended) 3) close of densely populated areas (since the villains are likely to attack there). 4) within the borders of EU (so, not in Switzerland) my own suggestions : - Euroguard Atlantic : based in Dublin (Ireland). has the charge of western Europe (UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Portugal and maybe Iceland if this country is part of the program -Iceland is not a member of EU-) Pratically England will certainly let aside due to its important population of supers. - Euroguard Baltic : based in Stockholm (Danmark). has the charge of Scandinavia (Danmark, Sweden, Finland) and baltian countries (Estonia, Latvia, lettonia) maybe Norway if it's part of the program. - Euroguard Egean: formerly based in Rome but likely to move to ljubjana after the enlargement in charge of Italy, Greece, Slovenia, Austria, Czech republic, Hungaria, Slovaquia) - Euroguard North : based in the Hague (to be close of the institutions) in charge of Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg.
  9. Hi. A player of mine is working on a character based on J'onn J'onzz. The problem : I play in the Champions Universe and i don't find something satisfying for the race/civilization he is from. I would like to take a official race within the CU. I thought about a Varanyi or Gadroon mutant but, at first sight, their civilizations are too different from DC's martians - I will buy "Terran Empire" later this week so i didn't read it yet - Someone has good ideas for this character ? D.
  10. Re: gods among men... I would say regular supers on 350 pts. You probably don't need sources but i suggest you to read "Lord of Light" form R. Zelazny if you didnt' read it yet. it's this with a technological variant.
  11. Re: Goodbye Washington DC Hi. I've got a strong interest on this as well. My PCs are currently investigating on something that could lead to that. (i hope they won't screw up my scenario this time) I suggest to define your chronology of the reactions : a) The "Ka-Boom" Day: What happened the very day the bomb explodes. - IMHO, 9/11 is probably a -sad- reference : national and global angst; disarray, disbelief, the whole world watching the TV etc... i don't think it would very different with a nuke. (except in matter of scale). "The day after tomorrow" : the very next day after the bomb. the first national and international reactions. c) "The week after tomorrow" : the first measures and decisions (national and international) after. IMHO d) "The month after tomorrow" : medium term strategies, measures, decisions. the first effects on economy begin to point. the first effects on global politics are showing as well e) "the year after tomorrow" : long term startegies, consequences and so. almost all the decisive consequences (economy, global and national politics...) of the bomb are known and have occured.
  12. Re: Asterix the Gaul An Astérix campaign should be possible with 2-3 adjustments to the system : 1 - ALL damages are "STUN-only"; no one ever died in any book of Asterix. Even a menhir falling on your head only makes you "stunned" or eventually nuts for a time. 2 - magic potion enhances your strength and gives you additional dices of HtH damage (stun only again and increased knockback). I've got a french version of Dragon Magazine with Asterix adapted for ADD. i will try to re-read it to get an idea. PS : What are the english names for the various villagers ? i only know Getafix by his original name ("Panoramix").
  13. Re: how to build this sword Nothing complicated : HKA w/ a focus (OAF) Stretching: 2" - 0 END - only to make attacks - no noncombat stretching - OAF Here it is, Anyway, another question : isn't there the same kind of weapon in one of the Final Fantasy games ?
  14. Case 1 : The base character, permanently desolidified (desolid, 0END, Persistent, Permanent), can duplicate himself to a solid character. The base character can also "call back" the duplicate at will (ranged recombination) Question : is it necessary (and possible) to take "affects physical world" on duplication for a character to recombinate while desolid ? Case 2 : same question but replace "duplication" by "Summon" : is ti necessary to take "affects physical world" on "summon" for a character to summon something while desolid ? regards
  15. Re: Variable Adders? like this i would get through succor Succor [the power] : standard effect (3, 6, 9 etc...) + 0 END +1/2 + Persistent: +1/2 + Can add adders: +1 - only to add adders : -1/4 - self only : -1/2 the number of dices or the amount of standard is function of the value of the adder you want to get : for 6 pts adders : 30 Act. pts; 17 real for 10 pts adders : 51 Act. pts; 29 real etc ...
  16. Re: [HELP] Need various things for a scenario Thanks for your suggestions to all but actually my main problem was not to find stuff. my problem was that i didn't have the time (due to work overload and other things) to search all this. this is why i wondered if someone had already some of this info. D.
  17. Good morning Hero people. I gonna GM soon (this week-end) a scenario and i'm still in need of 2 or 3 things - pictures of ugly/rough men faces (i laready tried the "FBI' most wanted") - the inner map of a cargo ship. - a inner map of the Pentagon could someone give me some URLs for that ? regards.
  18. Re: Archer ideas? Hi one of my players has an archer (i didn't see him for months so he's not a regular of my team). character concepts, names, or portraits : - Concept : magical japanese archer. - name : Kyudoka - picture : see in Fred, the picture of an super-archer by Storn; the player litterally fell with. (don't remember the page, it's near the description of "damage resistance" IIRC) Background resume (rather Dark Champions rated): the PC is a former american student who happened to date the daughter of a powerful yakusa oyabun(unknowingly of her father of course). regularly, the girl secretly met her lover by night, discretly sneaking out of the family house. Alas, a gang war started between the Yakusa and the italian mob. And one night, while the two lovers were playing hooky; the Italian mob kidnapped the girl and tried to bribe the Oyabun with her life. Things went awry. a gunfight ensues. the girl was killed. The father took the PC for responsible (not with some reason after all) and had his men seize him, beat him to death and thrown from a bridge. The PC barely survived and was offered revenge by a strange japanese old man in traditional garb. Powers : the PC can summon a bow and arrows at will by calling them (i.e. replace OAF by Gestures (two hands), Incantations (to call arrow) and STR minimum. Arrows : the classic (basically all RKA) Kobushi ("the trooper") : the basic arrow (0 END) Akisame ("The autumn rain") : Autofire Kyuudousha, ("the pathfinder" or "the guide") : no range modifier Tekkoudan ("the armor-piercing") : guess ? Taifuu ("the typhoon") : explosion Uragirimono ("the traitor") : Indirect Shunmin ("the spring sleep") : EB, NND (no need to sleep) Kumo-Ya ("the spider arrow") : Swinging and entangle (the basic web arrow) Incidents in play : none : he hurt another -invisible- PC with his explosion but nothing serious lessons learned for running or GMing these kinds of characters : See the "sniper syndrome" thread

    Team Archetpes

Re: Team Archetpes Another one is the "wrecked crew" : the wrecked crew is simply out of their place/home/timeline/ etc ... and simply try to "fit" in their new world. the example of this in my mind are the time-displaced Legion of Super-Heroes and Guardians of the Galaxy.
  21. Hi Hero People Here is the thing : a character has plain and simple duplication (4 duplicates all identical ). The player wants to buy additional SPD with the limitation that only ONE duplicate at a time can use the added phases. but at any phase, the player can choose which duplicate will use it. Example Mr Multiple (SPD 4) can have up to 4 duplicates. He has 4 additional SPD (for a total of 8) thus all duplicates can act on phases 3 6 9 12 but only one of them (to choose at this moment) can act on phases 2 5 8 11 Your opinion Hero Dom ? Second question from the same player : if you had duplication with the limitation that only one duplicate can act at a time no matter what. How much would you charge for that ?
  22. Actually, this happened during a Vampire game where i was a player. After the fourth comment from this player the following scene happened : GM (impersonating a brujah) - We were great and glorious back in Carthage and ... Player - Oh yeah, Carthage (insert here comments, rants about Troilus/Brujah li'l blood-sucking thing, etc...) ... Other player, also a brujah (sinister) - Dude,You've got five minutes to gather your stuff and move away from here. And if you dare to open your mouth again; you will leave this room with your teeth in a bucket ... Player - Errr ... you're speaking in character ? other player - Guess ? We never saw this player again in the club. I don't miss him a lot to be frank. Funny you said that. the "other player" i told about above is french but grew up in Florida -true, i swear-
