Hey Charlie Brown,  what are you doing with that kite in this tree?

That’s not Charlie Brown, that’s Linus.  Check the hairline and blue blanket.  Linus never did the kite-eating tree thing.  Somebody in the Parks & Rec Dept. made a boo-boo.

That's the only problem with this scenario. The kite-eating tree always victimized Charlie Brown, but that's clearly Linus.

You beat me to the punch Milord,  Good game.🥊

  2.   Superman debuted in the 1930’s.  The Fantastic Four in the ‘60’s.  Origins get updated all the time     WHO CARES! ! !  This is not about write-ups.

The original question I was trying to raise is....

Considering the current world situation, is using a team of Soviet “Bad Guys” to give players a way of working out any frustrations about what’s happening in the news in bad taste?

  3.    Nobody said it would have to be a straight out of the book version.  A lot of them if not all could be updated to the present day and more militaristic viewpoint Russia seems to be going with now.

It was a supplement book from years gone by of a team of heroes for the Soviet Govt.  Some were loyal Communists and good folks some were Commie bastids. Others were just stuck with the situation for one reason or another.
A nice mix of characters and power levels.  I believe it was an Arron Allston creation, but I could be wrong.

    As the tribble said.

Also, it would require a major rewrite to ditch the dated Cold War stuff. The biggest problem is that the Cold War ended thirty years ago, so characters that were young then aren't young now. If it wasn't for that, the sleazier characters could just have reinvented themselves as authoritarian Russian nationalists.

🎼Hey baby, what’s that sound. Everybody look at what’s goin’ down🎶   Putin’s in charge and the Cold War 2.0 is coming down the road.

  5.    I just had a thought and didn’t want it to die of loneliness....

What does anyone currently GM’ing a game think of the idea of running an adventure with Red Doom?  Would that be a useful venting of frustrations or an exercise in bad taste?

We're still working on getting Steve Long together with Eliza Dushku -- one miracle at a time. 😇

Where exactly does that line (for HER to choose) start?  ‘Cause I’ve got a feeling it’s gonna be a bloody long one, and I want to get there early with my camping gear.😈

  8.   I enjoy this game a lot, but that’s never gonna happen.  DC is owned by a MAJOR corporation, and the kind of cash that would be involved to buy the rights for an RPG would probably be a half a million at least.  All this goes for Marvel as well.

Why do you ask though? If you want a game set in the DC universe, just do it. There are a lot of sites and threads that have write-ups for DC’s characters and DC has an official website that will give you all the backround information you could ever use on your PC’s, NPC’s and locations. And any particular questions you have can get answered in places like this.

As long as you’re not making and selling a game for profit all this come under the “Fair Use” exemption of copyright law.

Will Hero Games ever acquire the dc comics license?

The local stores here had Champions adventures but never when I could afford them :(

How about a contest for everybody who isn’t already a Champions contributor on the site.  Submit a nice generic Champions adventure for anywhere from 4-8 players of beginning levels. The senior members will vote on the three best that will be put in the free download section.
The winners get bragging rights as they will be an official writer for Champions  New GM’s have some games to start their campaigns on, thus bringing in more players who might hopefully spend some cash on material down the line.

So in the end all this might put some money in pockets and keep the game alive at the same time.

You know it is funny, I have met several gun enthusiasts from the south and have never met anyone that matches your stereotype.  I remember some people buying ammo and weapons because there were promises to outlaw them but that was not an assumption by the people making the purchases, it was the rhetoric of the campaign which was pretty damn clear.  They tried to implement what they were saying as well if I remember but were stopped by the courts.

I decided I have absolutely no use for arrogant leftists that go around lecturing people on how ist and phobe all the right wingers were when  I saw on twitter the  video a young black kid made in a Seattle or Portland hospital, I forget which exactly.  Kid was maybe 20 and he was talking about the young white BLM Antifa member who, because the young black kid had a red MAGA hat on, approached him called him the N-Word to his face and then stabbed him in the stomach with a kitchen knife.  Luckily this kid survived.  He was pretty calm and reasonable considering what he went through but still did not have complementary things to say about the person that stabbed him.  Of course the cops never made an arrest because you know protesters were making a stand for Die versity.

See leftists can talk this kind of talk all they want but all the most terrible racial slurs and complete stupidity seems to come from their side.

For myself I would have no issue handing out at a bar with some rednecks who believe in Open Carry.  They tend not to ever pull their weapons or do stupid things with them.  It might be the training they got in all those  concealed carry firearms classes.  You know the ones that Alec Baldwin should have taken. That incident suggests to me it is the leftists that have guns I should worry about.

    But whadda I know ....

There are any number of political websites on the web.  Please do not try to turn this into one.   This conversation is about Monetary Systems in a Fantasy Post Apocalyptic World.  If you want to discuss your views about gun control....take it elsewhere.  At least to a more appropriate thread.

So the TV series Law and Order is back with a new season ?

Yes!  I’ve always been a big fan and I’ve enjoyed Jeffrey Donovan’s work since he was in Burn Notice.  The character of the A.D.A. is a bit of a P.C. weenie.  I want another “Hang ‘em High McCoy type.

    Whichever the GM wants.

In Gamma World, I assume that domars are pre-war coins that are denominated in 5, 1, .25, .10, .05, and .01, and are approximately the sizes of our current coin equivalents.  If I were running a game in post-apocalyptic America I'd probably use pre-war American coins.

But that's me.  Everyone's game is their own.

While they may have some value as a perceived basis for re-establishing a monetary system they are useless in and of themselves to back that up. Coins during the Old Western era for instance were made of solid gold, silver or copper.
However, current American coinage have little to no valuable metals in them.  However they are full of good quality base metals with relatively low melting points. Making them useful for soldering as well as in the making of small cast metal objects like jewelry.

Black powder might be sold by weight. How easy it is to make (certain areas might not have the right natural resources to create it) and how many people are making it, would be a factor on how much it is worth compared to Bullets and to how many people have access to Black Powder weapons.

How tough could this stuff be to make....I saw Captain Kirk do it in about in an hour, shoot the Gorn and still have time for commercials.😜🖖

(Just kidding, I know how finicky the procedure can get in real life.)
