  1.   That post may have sounded like “poor pitiful me” but I’m alive when experts thought I’d be well into my next reincarnation by now.   John Wayne only had one lung, and just like my hero the Duke I’m gonna tell Death to F-off until I’m good and ready.  If all else fails I’m gonna grow gills and breathe like a fish.
This is only about how much these tests suck and how someday I’ll have my swift and righteous revenge on those who conspire against me.  Mine enemies should start quaking in their boots and wetting themselves now and avoid the rush.

  2.    While today isn’t too bad, tomorrow is going to suck rocks.  I have to go in for my bi-annual lung capacity tests.  This is where a sadist in a smock walks me around an indoor track monitoring my blood oxygen levels until I want to pass out.  Then they take you into a room with a little booth and a face mask and see how you do at different levels of air.

The last one showed me at at only 48% lung capacity and it’s expected this one will show it’s even lower now.   Does anyone want to start a pool to guess the new number?

I may have to make plans to return to my home world.  This one bites.

    Agree with LL.

Furthermore, the film is complete, ie there a a climax and a coda (ceremony) to it. If it were the only film produced in that non-existent series, the subtitle: “episode 4 a new hope” would be contextless.

There’s nothing wrong with the original trilogy.  Star Wars, Empire & Jedi.  All the others just got worse and worse.

Dug out my copy of Son of the Golden Turkey Awards to see if there are any gems we have missed.

Empire of the Ants (which I have seen) starring Joan Collins

Santa Claus Conquers the Martians which again has to be seen to be believed. The Martians are green which is all you really need to know.

Any Ed Wood film such as Glen or Glenda

The Conqueror with John Wayne as Genghis Khan. This one has a sa note as many people who worked on the film developed and died of cancer.

Monster from Green Hell. Giant wasps terrorise the jungle

You have to enjoy some of these on a different level.

Santa Claus & the Martians has a 10 year old Pia Zadora as one of the little Martian children.  The Conqueror has one of the best bloopers of all time when John Wayne is caught on film wearing his wristwatch.

And Ed Wood’s films have to be seen to be truly believed.  The Johnny Depp movie only touches the surface.

Supers fiction, by and large, is light on normal NPCs.  Urban fantasy tends to be somewhat better.  But note that you don't have to rely necessarily on NPCs from those stories;  the PCs' attitudes and backgrounds can often be sanitized (to scale them back if needed) and reused.

I don’t know if I agree with that. I believe that the hero is made more 3-dimensional by having other characters to bounce off of.   What would Spider-Man be without Aunt May or J. Jonah Jameson?  How about Batman without Alfred or Jim Gordon?  Both those characters have huge casts of backround characters.   The Fantastic Four have Alicia Masters and Wyatt Wingfoot to name but a few.   Even a loner like The Punisher is made more interesting by having Microchip and others, as in the arc that brought us Joan the Mouse, Slacker Dave and Mr. Bumpo.

Without characters like these to spice things up the story becomes bland gruel indeed.

  6.       I just steal ‘em.   Do you need an editor for a big city newspaper?  There’s the history’s for Perry White and J.J.J. on their comic company’s websites.  Not realistic enough?  Look up Ben Bradley on Wikipedia, he was the editor of the Washington Post during Watergate.
Do you need a soldier or a cop?  Comics, movies, TV and history are full of them.   I like to use obscure stuff and go whole hog.  I saw a bad movie that starred Tommy Lee Jones as the Commander of a squadron of Apache helicopters.  (Fire Birds)  Soon after my Star Wars campaign had a new Commander for its B-wing squadron.

Check out the episode of Big Bang Theory where Wolowitz is the DM for their D&D game.  The actor is a very good mimic and breaks out celebrity voices for all the NPC’s.   You don’t have to go that far, but I find that casting a real person in the role gives me an immediate grasp of what they sound, look and behave like.

            Good luck.

They say that Prudence, Faith, Charity, Hope, and Temperance, are virtues...except when they get together as Friday is 'Ladies Night'.

That’s strange, because if you add Crystal and Champagne you get the list of dancers at the local “Gentlemen’s Club”.

Sorry to burst your friend's bubble, but that is what is called writers fiat.  It happens like that because the writers wanted it like that.

But if he wants to really emulate it, then +5 DCV, cost endurance.  The SFX is he appears between two opponents and they foolishly try to shoot him, he aborts to dodge and activates the Mini Bamf.  This places the DCV at +10.

Of course now you have to roll for each agent to see if they hit the other (if he says they should hit each other automatically, tell him there are NO absolutes in Hero, and if he insists, then when Dark Bamfer does it to the PCs, they get the same treatment [yeah other players will not let this fly])

We can get close to comics, but EVEN TSRs Marvel SHG didn't have this stated.

“Writers fiat” it’s also sometimes called “Holding the stupid ball”.  That’s the trope where a giant ball of stupidity seems to pass from one character to another like in the game Wonder Ball.  From character to character because without them acting in a clueless or out of character manner the whole plot falls apart.

🎼The Wonder Ball goes round and round-To pass it quickly, you are bound-If you’re the one who holds it last-The game for you has quickly passed-And...You...Are...Out!🎶

    Good evening all!

I am running a Champions 4th Ed game (I know it very well - so I keep using it even though there have been some good updates).

My question / request: Does anyone have a build that simulates Nightcrawler that they can share?

I have a player who wants to clone Nightcrawler - and we are stuck on how to buy some of the powers he envisions.  For example, he wants to be able to teleport in-between two NPCs, then as they try to shoot him, he Bamf's away and they shoot each other.

To me, this is simply taking a half phase move in between two NPC's, then when the NPC's go on their phase he uses his remaining half phase to teleport away.  The player suggested something with Mind Control that "confuses" the NPC's - which seems too complicated (not to mention the discussion about why used an EGO based attack, etc).

Other things powers being discussed are AoE attacks to simulate him being able to hit many opponents quickly.

Hoping that someone's build might help us come to terms.

    Thanks!

    B E   A   H E R O ! ! !

To me this requires that both the henchmen in question be dumb enough to turn and fire blindly into each other.   What may be easier is if NC ‘ports next to or behind one henchman, grabs control of the weapon and shoots the other one.
