  1. You could always raise the cost of characteristics. Maybe give more characteristic-related perks to make up for it? (1 CV for every 2 DEX instead of every 3, Power Defense from CON, Mental Defense from EGO or INT, etc)
  2. Nerf Gun: 1d6 EB, Does No BODY (-0), Does No STUN (-3/4), OAF (-1), 6 Charges (-3/4) - 5 AP, 1 CP
  3. I still don't understand why people complain so much of certain types of damage (falling is the favorite), yet have no problem with their characters taking gunshots and explosions without a flinch. Do your PCs jump off buildings or into stars so frequently that the damage MUST kill them?
  4. Yeah, it only nullifies two of the powers that are the only hope of a normal PC against a powerful mentalist - Flash and Darkness.
  5. Kill FTL. Use Extra Dimensional Movement or Flight Megascale, depending on how subjective you want the travel time to be. Combine Shrinking, Growth and Density Increase in one generic 'Change Form' power that would be bought piecemeal, Change Environment-style. Kill Swinging and Gliding. Limitations on Flight, both. Base Shapeshift on whether the sense is Discriminatory or not, instead of Targeting or not. Change Instant Change to be a Shapeshift variant.
  6. Don't forget Requires Skill Roll, Side Effect (hand is blown off)
  7. Actually, you misunderstand. Mister Steve Long sends no replies to USPD posts: Either it appears on the next update and you are King of the Dance or it doesn't and you sulk with the underdogs in underdogland or whatever.
  8. Personally, I think we're past the Iron Age, or at least past the 'disaster area' of the 90s (Death of Superman, Hal Jordan goes nuts, Aunt May dies, Aunt May isn't dead, Little May dies, Mary Jane dies, everyone dies, etc). DC comics seem more epic and iconic these days (Return to the 'base' JLA members, churning Elseworlds like a machine), and Marvel is busy playing with their Ultimate Aglhblhgalhga to get younger people to read the comics or something. Oh, yeah, and the -movies-. Dunno how the movies figure in. Spawn, The Great Boogie Man Of The Modern Age of Comics, faded into... well, fadehood. So what is the current Comics Age? Ice Age? No idea.
  9. So the player would have his very own pet Nega-Beam?
  10. What, making monsters jump out of a person's head whenever they are tense is not a good enough power to get in the USPD? Nyah.
  11. Detect Person's Life with Discriminatory and Analysis?
  12. Check the 'Throwing' thread for my take on it.
  13. Maybe the problem is that a throw in Hero system is instant. A more realistic approach would be to give the object a certain flight speed, and every segment it moves that speed and reduces it a bit for friction. And, of course, account for gravity. Here's a system I'm making up as I type: - Character throws object. Object's speed is 1" for each 5 STR over that required to lift the object. It is assumed that the character is throwing it at the angle required to hit the target hex, unless they miss the attack roll. - In every segment, at DEX 0, the object flies its speed, then reduces it by 2" (1" if it's aerodynamic, 3" or 4" if it's particularly clumsy or non-dense) - This proceeds until the object hits the hex, or reaches speed 0 (in which case it just falls on its current hex: gravity got the best of it)
  14. Another option would be to use something akin to Skill Levels for certain characteristic-specific bonuses. Characteristic Levels or the like. so for N points you'd double lifting capacity, for X points you'd get extra CON for recovery from CON stun and so on.
  15. All superhero comics would have been banned and we'd have to play the Archie and Peanuts RPGs?
  16. 4d6 Kicking Into Overdrive (When hit with enough magick; -1/2) Well, what did you expect with a description like that?
  17. Personally I'd make that free action more expensive, say 20 or 30 points, since it could be used at any time it's needed.
  18. Telekinesis, Explosive, Only towards center.
  19. Coeus Titan of intelligence. Father of Leto. Thea The wife of her brother Hyperion, Theia gave birth to Helios (sun), Eos (dawn), and Selene (moon). She is the goddess from whom light emanates and considered especially beautiful. Epimetheus Epimetheus was a stupid Titan, whose name means "afterthought". He was the son of Iapetus. In some accounts he is delegated, along with his brother Prometheus by Zeus to create mankind. He also accepted the gift of Pandora from Zeus, which lead to the introduction of evil into the world. Atlas Atlas was the son of Iapetus. Unlike his brothers Prometheus and Epimetheus, Atlas fought with the other Titans supporting Cronus against Zeus. Due to Cronus's advance age Atlas lead the Titan's in battle. As a result he was singled out by Zeus for a special punishment and made to hold up the world on his back. Best I could find on Crius was an entry that state him and Mnemosyne are 'Titans of memory'. So they had a backup.
  20. I still prefer handling comeliness as a special effect (possibly DF) and Skill Levels to relevant skills. And ugliness as DF + PER bonuses (that 'self-conscious' stuff really looks like a D&D rule)
  21. You forgot point costs. And Charges, in some cases. Pants: +2 PSL (Offsets PRE penalties when naked: 3p) + LS: Intense Cold (2p), Only for moderately cold situations (-1) - OIF (-1/2) - 4 Points
  22. Depends on the power, really. If it's beneficial to the character, using Trigger, No Conscious Control (a limitation that really needs more levels) or similar would work. If it's damaging, Susceptibility or Accidental Change. And remember, in Hero, a weak but complex power costs more than a powerful but off-the-wall power.
  23. I still think Duplication should be a subset of Summon.
  24. *shrug* You'd have to do buy three defenses to be half-resistant to all fire effects as well, so why not for Invulnerability? Still, here's another solution: DC Reduction - reduces 1 DC/level from all powers that affect you. The cost is around 15-20 points per level, and is of course intended to be used with Only Against Limited SFX limitations. Of course this puts Active Points over the edge. Which is why the book doesn't reccomend you use AP caps.
