  1. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... I'm trying my hand as a player in a Pathfinder game. We're all playing wizards and witchs in a version of the Academae. My own PC is a half orc named Pakak who's been sent there as part of a cruel bet by two of the upper crust (Think "Trading places" but without someone to switch with) but he's determined to learn enough so he can better his lot in life. of course, being a half orc, he's going to catch ### for it. My first pathfinder campaign as a player, and I've already made friends with some NPCS

  3. Re: Fictional cities I prefer fictional cities too. Less hassles if I get something "wrong" It also allows me to touch it up to fit the players characters more easily. If one of them is a dark and shadowy vigilante type, I know I'll want to develop a gritty 'bad part of town' complete with a dive they can go check out etc. If one is a 'Very Rich' CEO in his secret ID, then I can adjust some areas to reflect how much influence he and his company have in the town. Mystic types usually cause me to lay down a few ley lines and induldge in Masonic buildings from the city founding.

  12. Re: BOOK OF THE EMPRESS Kickstarter This lowly Battalioneer wishes to report that total conquest is close to fruition ahead of schedule. With just One Hundred and Forty Six more of your Dollar units*, we will have achieved victory and pleased the Empress. All hail V'han! * as of this post anyway...

  15. Re: Star Trek Online F2P and the Champiosn Online Launcher. Thanks. I have a friend who loves Star trek, and might want to give this a peek
  16. Re: Destroy Your Geek Cred!! I've only read one or two books of the Dresden files, found them good. The Codex has been more my preference though
  17. Re: Order of the Stick to twist the Crow's words around... "Bad day to be a good guy"
  18. Re: Destroy Your Geek Cred!! For what its worth, either way I was impressed at Gen Con when you went down the list. Very humbling for me, but mostly in a good way
  19. Re: Destroy Your Geek Cred!! I consider the Hobbit far superior to the Lord of the Rings Trilogy under the "Brevity is the soul of wit" clause; "child book" or not. Mind you, I'm talking the books here. I liked the LotR movies far more than their print counterparts despite the changes made (or perhaps because of them?). I never really cared for the Dragon Riders of Pern, couldn't get into them. I've never read the Amber series. I keep meaning to, but something comes up. I have no interest in watching Fight Club. If it weren't for the rest of society moving along whether I like it or not, I would have been perfectly content with VHS tapes as opposed to the over protected over regulated and often over commercial ridden DVDs. Grog like fire, fire good for Grog's father, Fire good for Grog. While at Gencon, I learned with some embarrasment that there are a LOT of sci fi writers who I have not read. I love superheroes, but have yet to find a superhero MMORPG that really catches me....they always put in something that takes me out of the moment. While I've seen many examples of utterly lovely women of East Asian descent, in general I just do NOT understand what all the fuss is about. For that matter, most Asian cultures are mild curiousities to me at most. I'm not even into manga/anime. More power to you that feel differently, but that's one area where I'm lacking as a geek I guess. I found X-Files kind of dull after just a few episodes. The 'new' Battlestar Galactica was so bitterly cynical, it had me thinking Mechanon was right. Babylon 5 WAS good, but the first season was rather drab, where as Deep Space 9 was good from start to finish IMO; accusasions of rips offs aside. more to come later perhaps
  20. Re: Order of the Stick Oooo.... Doombabies!

  22. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat Bruce Wayne/Batman : "I will finally read that copy of How to Win Friends and Influence People that Dick gave me so many holidays ago."
  23. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Batman: Year One was quite good! I never read the comic story arc so I can't compare, but I thought it was pretty darn decent with occaisional bouts of awesome. It's really Gordon's story, but as well told as it is, I don't think any Batman fan would mind. I thought the lines in Bruce's face made him look older /more gaunt than I liked, but then , if this is a typical comic to animation translation, the show itself is probably just being true to the original style. No Kevin Conroy, much sadness. There's also a Catwoman short...wow. My five year old nephew will not be seeing this. A bit too risque in a scene or two for young minds (Dirty minds are fine). Suffice to say I enjoyed that too
