  1. If it's any consolation, Lemming, I like the pic.
  2. Re: What would your character do? In character eh? APEX: My second wife... well, it had been a few years since my first's death (it would have to be). She'd have to understand he has to be brought to justice. That her brother in law just took the life of a man who may have a family of his own. However tempted I would be for his betrayal of my wife's trust in him, I'd just bring him to justice , no more force than I have to. LONE STAR: "Uhm, Darhlin...Ah'm afraid your brother in law shot a man in a bank robbery today. Now, Ah know Ah shouldn't have gotten mad, but AH beat the tar out of that boy, and Ah'd do it again ifn' Ah had to. He's in custody now, and ...Ah'm a sleeping on the couch, ain't I?" RECLUSE: Oh crap, more people hurt because of my ignorance. Great, just great. WHy'd I get married in the first place if I'm just going to make the woman I love miserable AND deprive some family of it's father? I suck. I quit. Oh, wait, Grandmother Spider won't let me. This whole THING Sucks. (Mope, Angst, etc, then try to redeem self) SLAMMER: Married....whoooah. Well, considering the girl he married is likely a mentalist... hey, if she says he wouldn't do it, I'd check for a frame up. I'd make excuses to the press after checking iwth my agent for the best line... but secretly I'd be blaming myself. Damn it, why do I always have to think with my ####? SURGE: I get angry, angry at myself, angry at my wife (and feeling guilty for that anger) angry at the idiot bro in law (Who's going to get his hair standing up funny), but since I can't really direct that anger at folks I love... I'm going to look for whoever he was pulling the heist for. I'm going to bust their whole #$#$ing cartel or organization. WILDCARD: Who told my wife I was a super hero? You mean she didn't buy the "It's a fetish" excuse? Dang. FIrst, I wouldn't have gone easy on him in the first place. Being nearly killed puts the whole 'soft on crime thing' in perspective. Mind you, I might have just knocked him out and mailed him to Bangkok in the first place, but no no no... letting criminals go leads to the drowning and the hurting and the bullets and the hey hey hey... we're the monkeys.
  3. Actually, it's probably closer to number 10... but heck with it. Your character is on another patrol, where he ends up facing an incredibly dangerous villain with some form of cutting attack (be it laser, or mono sword, or what have you). During the last phase of the battle, you manage to take the bad guy out, but at the same time, the villain lashes out and chops your character's hand off. Your character looks down in shock, rather than seeing a bleeding stump, he/she sees circuits and metal sparking with electricity where there should be cappilaries, muscle, and tendons. What would your character (Who may even doubt that he/she IS his/her self now) do? (Of course, if your character is a cyborg or robot normally, this might just be another day .. )
  4. Wouldn't happen, there IS no Malachite in my universe, or in the universes I play in *Smirk* Saved by NPC deletion. However, replacing that with Teleois (sp)... Let me think.... not sure, but likely. Apex: No worries, his powers are magically endowed, and I doubt the clone would have those. It's not IN the genes. Potion of Goo: Give it to some scientist, maybe it can help cure cancer one day. Baby: Find him a good home, would raise it himself, but he lost his wife, and he needs to focus on his daughter. Full Grown: See what, if anything, Dreamweaver could do about it... he owes me. Lonestar: Potion of Goo: He'd be sort of unsure, but might be talked into just getting rid of it after checking with scientists in the team. Or he would have them freeze it. Baby: He might end up raising the boy himself, if he couldn't find a good home for him. He'd keep a close eye to make sure the lad grew up to use his powers properly. Fullgrown: Use his oratory and persuasion to inspire the Clone to join him on the path of truth, justice, and the Texan way Recluse: Grandmother Spider gave him his powers, so...again, I doubt the clone would be getting them. Still, this would wig him out. Potion of Goo: Nix it. Baby Recluse: Uhm, find him a good home. Fullgrown: Well, no powers, but would probably arrange for the guy to get a good start a few hundred miles away (Who needs the complications of a duplicate) Slammer: Potion of Goo: 50 seconds in the microwave should solve the problem... (Unless the radiation has a 'comic book' effect on it and it becomes "Slamzilla" or something) Baby: Panic attack. Would seek guidance. Fullgrown: He'd really be offended by this, but if it was fully sentient, he couldn't just pull the plug. He'd either become a rival, enemy , or a friend, who knows? Surge: "Powers" come from his powered armor. Potion of Goo: Give it to Jessica to analyze. Probably hold it in status. Baby: Beat head against wall, B*tch for a few hours how dad never had to deal with this stuff, and then find the kid a good home. Full grown him: Beat head against wall, B*tch for a few hours how dad never had to deal with this stuff, and then try to help the guy deal with his new life while making a BS story trying to explain why ANYONE would want to clone a comic book artist. Wildcard: Powers come from training and card like gadgets. Potion of Goo: Tastes... minty. Baby: Ah, the cute little tyke. Off to the Adoption agency so you can grow bitter and confused. Full grown Wildcard: Dude, my face in my secret ID is copyrighted in the etertainment industry of Atlantic City. You're going to the West Coast, and becoming an Accountant.
  5. Oh heck with it, I'll defend the poor guy. I do think he's better than Seeker, but that's me. Nighthawk stole his name from another character. Very hard to come up with an original name in the super hero genre, what, are we going to accuse Defender of ripping off Marvel's non-team? Nighthawk is a Batman-clone-wannabe. I made this accusation myself, that he was TOO Batman, but the fact he joined the Champions and interacts a lot more willingly with them (even wanting to lead them) shows he has a difference in style and direction. He's only stuck as a clone if you insist on RPing him as one. Nighthawk wears a duck on his head. Depends on who is drawing him. In some pics, it looks too pointed to be a proper bill. Nighthawk was trashed by Mechanon on the cover of Champions, and by a gang of schoolchildren in USPD. Okay, most heroes might get trashed by Mechanon, and ...for all we know, he might have been able to pull of the block or dodge of the century there. The kids, well, he doesn't get 'trashed', he just is drawing back as he doesn't want to hurt them. They're being mind controlled fer cryin out loud. I think we may have Seeker 5E. Nah, Seeker would have been UNconcious under the pile of schoolchildren on a cover, the billboard with his smile behind him, and, of course, having no Resistant Defenses, might have a #2 sharpy stabbed in him by one of the tykes.
  6. Indeed, I agree, that sounded like one heck of a game. Nicely handled by both your players and their GM there Doctor
  7. How to say this? Cable is a John Wayne wanna be without the Duke's charisma. Cable is style without substance. He's got so many twists and turns to his origin he ends up being nothing more than an abstract parody of the genre we're expected to take seriously. Cable tries to be cool, but at best he's 'kewl' in a cheesey way. YMMV, of course.
  8. Why Nighthawk? Why not? As Agent X said, It is very hard not to duplicate names that have appeared in the comics before at sometime or another. Knighthawk, while cool, really brings to mind shining power armor with wings to my mind. Speaking just for myself, Nighthawk has gone from being one of my least favorite Champions, to one I find myself falling back on and enjoying immensely as an NPC contact for my players. He's begun to develop his own style.
  9. With the exception of one character, out of the few times I get to play as a PC, I tend to be solo. That one character would likely be pretty shocked, but that doesn't change the priority, make sure the innocents are safe and/or get to safety. Which means he'll probably get captured, but at least he might foil their plans.
  10. I don't get to play much as a PC, so it's hard to say. Out of the characters I have 1 One would do it if deputized etc and asked to by the courts. He'd be real troubled, but he'd do it. 2 Another it would depend on how 'real' you made it for him. If he knew the victims, or saw the faces of those who lost loved ones, he'd do it. 3. Most of the others would decline. As for the teams I GM for. One of them could banish them to another dimension, so hey, there's a solution right there that's outside the box
  11. Another thing that works, both to further 'realism' and make it so the players don't feel they're helpless to stop the 'revolving door' is to handle the State responsibly, and occaisonally a 'killer villain' gets death row and ends up successfully executed. Like you said, the GM has to act responsibly as well, and while it's okay to play the system as in need of help, it's unfair (both to the real system AND the players) to portray that system as eternally incompetent.
  12. Dark Seraph: "Bow, bow before the might and majesty of the chosen disciple of Krim! Your moon shall bleed, the world will cry out around you in agony most dire, and I am the left hand of Power that shall make it so!" Vincent Dimitrios, Sorcerer Supreme and Mystic Master: "Who needs a hug?"
  13. Q: So, how did you get that punk boyfriend of your daughter to appear rabid in the first place? A: Giants roam the Earth, and the people quake in fear
  14. Mutant For Hire had this great concept for heroing in Vegas. I repost it here.
  15. HHmm that is the flip side, the GM has to remember not to make it so the players feel they're characters are FORCED to kill.
  16. Actually, I like that. Or maybe have it known as C.H.A.I.N. (Make the letters mean something) officially, but unofficially the group would go by "The Chain Gang".

    Need a Name

I think "Nightfall" is just fine, but if you're looking for other Underworld Rivers for a name.. "Lethe" might be a good one. It encourages a 'fresh start'
  18. Buffing up Nighthawk Have Nighthawk buy the Weapon Element so he can use any club with his martial arts (not just his own.) I'd take Watchdog's suggestion, and alter that multipower so not all of them would be Ultras. I'd add a few slots for yet more versitility, for example, another AE attack. While I wouldn't have him get up on guns and things (Sorry, that ruins it for me) I would allow some 'super skills' for him, things like "Vanishing Teleport" or 'super stealth' (Invisiblity, Stealth roll required). Give him a few over all skill levels to show his intensity. Buy him the Perk version of Reputation with criminal scum: He's the one Champion Criminals do NOT want to be left alone in the room with and this would reflect that. (EDIT): Contacts and Favors would also eventually come up I think. Let's also buy up his CON, just a bit.
  19. I pretty much explain to them that every super hero has an automatic 0 pt Psych limititation, Reluctant to Kill. I let them know I don't consider that in keeping with the version of the genre I am running, and if they expect kudos, much less exp for it, they're nuts. There maybe exceptions, but it is rare. Darn rare, and even then they'll be consequences. Fortunately, my players are friends and agree with me on that point.
  20. Re: "Suicide Squad" Champions Universe style "The Expendables" eh? Well, it certainly is a classic. It beats the "Super Dirty Dozen"
  21. Yeah, good concept. Anyone know if they will be making a comeback for 5th Ed though?
  22. Q: Do you think this painting could really be the lost Picaso work, Moon Over Madrid? A: I will reach down your throat, destroying your yap box, and yank your entrails out of your mouth so that the neighborhood dogs might play chew tug with them!

    Need a Name

I believe "Watchfire" was once a term for fires used to help guard...and it sounds cool. Though it might fit a flaming character better.

    Need a Name

http://www.worldwidewords.org/weirdwords/index.htm Try looking here, maybe something will help. Ironically, I almost suggest Blackguard. Yes, it's actual meaning is nasty, but the irony of it might appeal and fit your concept.
