  1. Too General/Nebulous or Specific Part 2 Dave, Next batch on the General theme. Body Double Bogatyr Breeze Block Bronze Age Buddha Bully Bunyip Busy Bee Cabracan Campeon Cape Caper Carpathia Cathedral Cat Lord CEO Cerval (Asian Cat) Chairman China Boy Churchill Cimmerian Cinnamon Girl Clean Getaway Cleaner, The (Intelligence term for someone who cleans up a mess ie dead bodies cf La Femme Nikita and Assassin) Cold Blood Cold Storage Collaborator Combat Thought Complicity Composite Slayer Consequences Bogatyr is Russian in origin (I believe) Bronze Age is included as various other ages are in the List like Old Age and Middle Age. If you want to fail the one you may wish to yank the others. Bunyip is Australian. Carpathia is another name for the Transylvanian/Romanian area. Cerval is an Asian cat, admittadly not as big as a lion or tiger. But possibly a good name for characters operatin in South East Asia. Interesting fact. Ceval Coffee is the most expensive coffee in the world. The Cat easts the coffee husks and after the coffee beans are passed through its system, the beans are collected for making coffee. Consequences partner Truth has been included in the list
  2. We had villains from all over. The Overlord does stand out. The Kingpin of London who was battled by two martial artists, White Tiger and Crimebuster. Eventually killed by Crimebuster when th hero stole the villain's rocket boots as the villain's skyscraper headquarters blew up.
  3. Scourge from the Deep had the Underwater rules but villains who truely sucked. A lot worse than the ones in European Enemies But for utility, An Eye for an Eye. And I am grateful to Winterhawk for the quick comeback on this.
  4. Now that I have my original copy again, I have two copies of Strike Force. Trouble is, I'm in Britain and postage to the States can be a pain. I post 1 Kg of Cadburys Milk Chocolate to the starving masses of Milwaukee so I know what I talk of.
  5. I didn't think it was that bad. European Enemies that is. I found Villany Unbound to be more of a letdown. But there is a Dark Champions one with very few usable things in it. And I can't remember the name. It is the one with the three agent like people on the front. Reddish sort of cover.
  6. Well the Flame had his wife as a DNPC. She left him after he went off to fight the Destroyer in space. She came back when she found out that he was the Flame. She became pregnant but lost the child. After that she turned quite bitter, left him and conspired to get him imprisoned. Eventually she became one of the leaders of the criminal group VILE. And a good time was not had by all.
  7. This is used a lot in tournament play at things like GenCon. And it applies not only to Champions but to all versions of Dungeons and Dragons and Cthulhu. It adds zest to the role playing. With our lot it all depended on who was in charge. We did a table to see who was most liked out of the team a while back. And people had to respond in character. That was interesting. And rigged in a few cases.
  8. Too General/Nebulous or Specific Part 1 Dave, I'll post more on the German bit when I do a list of completely new names. Here are the first batch of names which are perhaps too nebulous, too specific or too general. Included are reasons for inclusion, references or non-inclusion. 101 (after George Orwell's book 1984. Rm 101 contains your worst nightmare) Alcibiadies (Athenian Greek General) Andarra Anti-Drugs Crusader Anti-Pope Anti Vigilante Apt Pupil Aqus Arab Arabia Arabian Arak Arch Foe Armed Robbery Attorney General Backstabber Bad Guy Bad Man Badge Barramundi Belle of the Ball Bells, The Big Boss Big Business Big Chief Bigot Black Belt Black Hat (trad. The bad guy) Black Rod (British Parliamentary official) Blonde, The Alcibiadies was a Greek general who fought against Sparta. See The History of the Peliponnesian War by Thucydidies (spelling may be a little off). The leader of Athens at the time Pericles is mentioned more often and is the subject of a play by Shakespeare. Alcibiadies was exiled from Athens. Bizarrely you had Alcibiadies down as an Asian Shangri La beforehand. The Anti Drugs Crusader was a vigilante who went after drug dealers and faked psychosis, so that people thought he was a driveling gun toting loon. He killed criminals to mask his vendetta against a Mafia family in the UK. The Anti-Vigilante was a specially trained policeman sent out after a rash of costumed vigilantes hit London, such as the Anti Drugs Crusader. Arch Foe, Bad Guy, Bad Man, Big Boss and Big Chief could be claimed as names by anybody in addition to the normal name and might fail the filters as a result. I can confirm that Black Rod is a Parliamentary official.
  9. It would be just a case of hitting him for some of the heroes however... The Demoness can read souls. She would see that his soul was in anguish and that he was a decent enough person. She tells the Magician who travels back through time and observes what has brought him to this. He cannot interfere with what has already occurred however. Then he and some of the others teleport in and surprise the villains holding the family hostage disarming booby traps if need be, as the Magician is one of the team gadgeteers. Then they grab the villains and present all in front of the brick with fire powers.
  10. One of my favourite ones was Rainbow Archer. Liked the origin and what she could do. To play, I had the Flame my first character, founder member and namer of our hero team, The Protectors. Because I built him from the ground up.
  11. Cobra murdered by hero In the campaign I was in, the obra was murdered by a hero. Part of the origin of the hero Avenger was that his parents wee killed by Cobra. So he sought revenge. Eventually he got one on one with the Cobra. Cobra tried using the ego destruction gadget from the gadget book only to have it turned on him. Left as a vegetable, the Avenger had the Cobra completely at his mercy. And then killed him. He was photographed doing it by his reporter DNPC. So he went on the run. This caused major ructions within the team with some heroes supporting him and other seeking to bring him down. He had never killed some one and always said 'But I'm just a normal man'. He was an icon to others. That changed with what he did. But some of the heroes who had a very loose grasp of morals as far as the police were concerned covertly hid news of him from the others who were bent on tracking him down. He was eventually put on trial having given himself up and jailed for manslaughter.
  12. Villains Unlimited from Palladium has some great villain pics and ideas. Gramarcy Island as well. Same company. Century Station. Ditto Skraypers. Same company again. Nice pics in all and interesting ideas for villains great and small. The Nebula in the Skraypers is much more nasty than the one in CKC.
  13. Oh so that's who Hermit is. Made me wonder for a moment. I'll let you lot fight this one out. And then take out the winner.
  14. Question Dave, We have on the list names corresponding to Allied aircraft of World War 2 and later. What about the names of enemy planes from WW2 or the company names, like Messerchmitt ?
  15. We incorporated real world stuff where it affected our campaigns based in London. One of the characters went over to help the Chechens against the Russians for example.
  16. I can think of several ways but The Magnetic Mistress might waggle her fingers and let all the metal break contact so no way could the bomb detonate. The Voidwalker would subject the miscreant to the Terror of the Void. Once unconscious, the bomb would then be hurled into space poss via T-Port As for what the Demoness would do, well it all depends on how evil he was and how many people he had harmed killed. If she felt he was irredeemably evil, she would teleport him straight to hell with the backpack as well. If she felt he was savable, she would turn him or the backpack desolid and then teleport the backpack away.
  17. I agree with some of the things others have said here. As to the Germans, here is a specific item that we used in our campaign, the Spear of Destiny. This was the spear used against Christ while on the cross. Supposedly Himmler was very interested in getting hold of it. The Germans have legends of it cf Parsifial and Kingslor. But you could also look at the Godlike RPG which deals with supers during the war.
  18. In reply to my fellow countryman, Col Orange, I did have a pic done up for Dungeons and Dragons 3rd edition featuring Vanessa Upton who has graced the cover of Bizarre a couple of times. And in the Union Jack bikini in which she graced the cover of Front magazine, she could me a pretty good Britannia. Since getting hold opf Strike Force. I usually look at the pic of the character first and then decide how much COM to give the female characters, heroes or villains. And if theyare supposed to be Drop Dead Gorgeous, then people know about it.
  19. We were all newbies once We all had to start somewhere. Champions is just a little bit easier to do for fledgling players and GMs. Start off with simple combats to let people see how the system works and then start building in more complex elements. That's when the players start getting wise to Surveillance and Stealth and the Per Rolls to notice who is causing the problems. Our first fights introduced main stays of the campaign like The Warlock and Cyclops (BOO HISS !), The Flame, Mindstorm and the Ranger (HURRAY !!) But they were simple affairs. Even if the Warlock did indeed escape injury by having the helicoptor slammed on top of him, and we did wreck the OverKill device.
  20. High Presence Loreli in Strike orce started at 50 Com and got to 70 Com. She had powers built around Unconscious Psychic/Pheremone powers. Some of these just upped her appearance or made men really think twice before attacking her. And she had a High Presence which kicked in when she was particularly frightened.
  21. Hide this !!!! If King Kong or Godzilla see this, they'll want to spend their XPs on it !
  22. What Hercules can do. And something else Marvel Comics once had Hercules strapped in a harness to pull the island of Manhatten back into position in New York after a villain stole it. And that is a more recent example. But DC's Spectre (pre Hal Jordon) takes the cake for power. Giant size smacking a planet on top of the sorceror Wotan.
  23. Dave, Here are the last of the silly names. And there are more than 60 but it does end the list. Now there is the one that are too general etc. So your postcount will increase again. But in your defense, there is only so much that can be done at once and you have your eyesight to think of. Right Hand Man Right Sort Robert E Glee (Southern US Clown) Rocky Mountain Rolling Clones, The Roman Tick Rome E O Sadistic Saracan Safety First Safety Last San Juan Hill Satan Claws Screaming Beagle Seven Caesar Shadow Pimp Sheik Hashud Sheik of Araby Sheriff Grip Sherlock Gnomes Shikago Sick Puppy Silver Dream Machine Sitcom Slap Happy Slave to the Rhythm Slippery When Wet Slow Knight Soft Touch Sour Kraut (after the cabbage dish) Spice Girl Sports Knight Star Spangled Batter (Patriotic Baseball Player) Sudden Explosion Sundown Kid, The (partner of Butch Cavity) Suicidalien Suite Supercar Superdooper Superfluous Man Superhero Lite Super Radiation Man Super Vampire Sweet Heart Swiss Army Knife Man Tails (of Top Hat and Tails) Tar Baby Tattered Terrorist Taxidermist Telepathic Robot Ten Gallon Hat Tickler, The Tiepin, The Tony Contralto (Gang Boss) Top Hat (of Top Hat and Tails) Torch Singer Torture Garden Tough Love Torso, The Treacherous Turk Triskaidekaphobia Lass Troy Ounce Tutti Frutti Unfriendly Fire Underground Stallion Underwater Yoddler Unnecessary Violence Unusual Punishment Vibro Monkey Walrus, The Warped Mentality Water Torture Whiner Whirl Conundrum Whole Tooth Wild Western Woody Alien Wrongdoer Yankee Doodle Yankee Doodle Dandy Yankee Doodle Pansy (Dandy's partner) Yowie
  24. We were travelling towards the villain's base and ran into the iceberg because we were talking. And I was never allowed to forget this incident. Player doing Wolverine kills a villain in a shopping centre filled with people. Basically the player overdid the Killing attack. Then turns to the horrified crowd and say 'Yes I am a Mutie'
  25. Organized ? I disagree with a couple of points people have been making. Europeans would wear masks for the same reason everyone else does. Protecting Secret Identity and family unless you have Public ID. In our campaign the Voidwalker and the Unicron were aliens and thus had Public ID. But the rest of the team had cowls and masks. Like the Flame, The Avenger, Avenger 2, Arachneida, Dr Density etc. Very few had open faces. The Magician did. But he had Public ID and everyone knew him as the Magician. Mindstorm did as well but she was an egoist. The team was also Government backed but was set up by the team and Pappademetriou Industries. Working with the Government could be, shall we say fraught ?
